Where do people my age (30's) buy outfits for weddings?

I need an outfit for my brother in laws wedding. Everyone there will either be dressed in something from Coast ( all the "younger people" - Dh's cousins etc) or Debenhams (MIL, aunts etc).

Normally for weddings etc I get something from Jigsaw, French Connection or similar but I'm coming up absolutely blank.

Everything seems quite short (I'm 5'8 - legs ok beneath the knee but I'd rather skirts didn't bare my knees too far!) or too old/mumsy.
Maxi dresses make me feel like I'm wearing a sack.

Does anyone have any suggestions - somewhere I haven't looked maybe?! I'm a size 12, 32FF with a bit of a tummy. I'm also ridiculously fair skinned!!Possibly an impossible task.

I tend to go for Oasis, Warehouse or (if I'm feeling flush) Ted Baker.

MortifiedAdams · 02/05/2013 21:18

Try ASOS. What sort of colour / style flatter you?

OwlMother · 02/05/2013 21:21

I've looked at Ted Baker, they're all a bit short - or long and pleated which isn't too great on me.
Normally slightly prom style, fitted on top, flared skirt. I'm a very fair red head so that tends to lead me away from very pale colours, or reds/pinks.

Well I love Hobbs and lk Bennett. I have lk Bennett Lydia dress in navy and I wear it with some fab funky shoes and it's gorgeous! Whistles have some beautiful dresses too.

(The Predictable) Karen Millen
Love, love, love Phase Eight
Reiss (never bought for myself but others I know love it)

NeoMaxiZoomDweebie · 02/05/2013 21:48

I'm 40 and I go to Coast. It's not a "young" shop imo. Not young

Not young

OwlMother · 02/05/2013 21:52

OOh! Went to fold washing and came back to lots of suggestions!

Rosie Julia dress is lovely- quite what I would go for. Slight problem is that I have bought a navy lace dress for my daughter to wear to the wedding and I'm a bit afraid we might look a bit matchy!! It's a shame as there is a lot of navy lace about. If it comes to it I could change hers but she does love it!

I bought this and it's gorgeous

OwlMother · 02/05/2013 21:55

Mortified I think the first too are a bit blingy for me - I love the Joy one, Wish it were a teeny bit longer though!

fromheretomaternity This one is pretty - do the panels across the front not make you appear bulky across the middle?( my constant fear!)

this is nice for a redhead and on sale

MrsLettuce · 02/05/2013 22:03

another green one

OwlMother · 02/05/2013 22:07

NeoMaxi Sorry, didn't make myself clear - I didn't mean coast was too young for me, It's more that the dresses are prettier than I normally go for. IThe second one you linked to is lovely, unfortunately I gravitate towards the navy... Think my daughter's dress might have to be returned!
