(I stare through the window of their shop like a homeless person watching people eat in a restaurant)

Shock
alexsmum · 13/05/2006 18:52

but i have justified it to myself by thinking that it will last him all summer and autumn and then ds2 will get the wear from it too.i looked everywhere for a light coat for him and nothing was as nice as this.

Alexsmum you are crazy paying that for a childs coat!!! Shock but it is cute!!!

Bozza · 13/05/2006 19:02

Got one very similar in Gap sale when DS was 2 for less than £10 - just passed it on to my nephew.

nutcracker · 13/05/2006 19:03

Shock It's a raincoat, and IMO an pretty ordinary boring one.

alexsmum · 13/05/2006 19:06

bozza i had that one for ds!!! i also paid £10 for it.it had a navy blue lining? it was lovely but unfortunately it's so small on him now-there's no way he could wear it.they don't have anything similar this year-just cagoule type things.
i never ever spend this much money on anything..i am Shock at myself but i just loved it so much.

Me too Bozza! DS2 is now wearing it and it was £3!! Grin

Could never justify paying out £50 for a child's coat. Ds1 has one from Tescos which was £3.50 in the sale. Only navy but fine for nursery.

alexsmum · 13/05/2006 19:06

thanks nutty

I did love that coat on DS but would not have even paid Gap full price for it.

ScummyMummy · 13/05/2006 21:26

I bet alex will look lush in it, alexsmum. I remember buying two stripy gap jumpers for my boys at full price when they were about 2, to the consternation of all to whom I admitted this faux pas. V pricey and broke my rule about not dressing the same but they looked MEGACUTE and i still think "Ahhhhh" and smile when I remember how lovely they looked in them. Take lots of photos.

WestCountryLass · 13/05/2006 22:52

Ispent £40+ on a coat from Gymboree for DS thinking it would last ages and his siblings could wear it. I lost it up the zoo a few weeks later Shock

alexsmum · 14/05/2006 12:16

oh no west country lassSad
i'm thinking of attaching some kind of alarm to it!it does look lovely, it really does.it's a proper small boy coat. as ds is so huge for his age it's really tough to find stuff that doesn't make him look like a teenager. i don't care whether other people think i shouldn't have bought it-my money, my choice.

OMG alexmum...Sorry but I think you're mad!!!

LadyTophamHatt · 14/05/2006 12:26

but yes....it is your cash.

wanna lend me a tenner??
Wink

alexsmum · 14/05/2006 12:27

dy'know lth? the cash is coming from a cheque granny sent for his birthday.told us to use it for something practical for him-what could be more preactical?

OP posts:
puff · 14/05/2006 12:33

I think it's lovely - I probably would spend that if I knew I could hand the coat down to a sibling.

franke · 14/05/2006 12:34

I love Petit Bateau. They do fab jeans for kids and the pjs last for ever. I don't mind spending the money, because the clothes last and last.

LadyTophamHatt · 14/05/2006 12:37

True alexmum...very true.

I would have shopped for a cheaper one though and bought other bits too.

But then I'm tight so anything over £10 for kids clothes is shocking for me.
