Lip balms that actually moisturise

I'm looking for a lip product that actually works, everything I've tried sits on my lips and I have a feeling is making my lips drier. Have tried the usual Vaseline, Carmex, eos balms, liz Arden 8hr cream, lanolips, burt bees, Nivea milk and honey.

I have one by Philosophy that stays on for ages. Yellow, with 'Kiss me' on it.

The only problem I have with it is that I keep it in the car and have to let it melt a bit by sitting on it as it solidifies when cold.

I put some on before I got to work and there's still a bit left on.

I use the Body Shop Vitamin E one, and have always found it very good.

Lansinoh nipple cream is the best thing I have used so far. I keep a old lipbalm pot that I re-fill with Lansinoh from the tube, it is great stuff.

Figs and rouge peppermint lip balm is lovely, smells amazing and properly moisturises my lips.

kikid · 22/03/2013 13:49

I 'd stick to Vaseline(bp) for a week to see how goes & nothing else, pure no added bits, & use last thing at night & after breakfast. Do you put anything else on your lips?
I only use vaseline, I have used lipsalve etc over the years & tend to agree they dry the lips more.

KristinaM · 22/03/2013 13:50

Lansinoh is the best thing for sore red noses and lips on snotty toddlers

RCOR · 22/03/2013 13:56

I second the Body Shop Vitamin e in pink twist up tube. Best ever.

I've heard that petroleum jelly is not good as lip balm as the minerals dry out the lips. So I tend to avoid anything with petroleum jelly such as vaseline. Don't know if this is true but found that lips improved when I sourced the Body Shop Vitamin e.

Carmex works for me, not Vaseline as previous poster says.

HappyGirlNow · 22/03/2013 14:40

I never use lip balm or anything like that. They just don't work on my extremely dry and cracked lips. I just put a bit of hand cream over them every now and again and that works much better.

hettie · 22/03/2013 15:58

keihls.... have tried them all (including the ones you have- bar lanolips...) only one that works

AlwaysSleepingBeauty · 23/03/2013 08:33

I love the Nuxe Honey Dream one in the glass pot, I also like that it's matte so it's great for lipstick.

ZacharyQuack · 23/03/2013 11:09

Lucas' Paw Paw Ointment

Chandon · 23/03/2013 11:25

I love Korres lip balm, in a little pot, and I am fussy about my lip balms!

There is a rose tinted one which is fab, but they do a colourless one as well

misslaughalot · 23/03/2013 11:34

Another vote for Palmers cocoa butter lip balm here too (not the gel stuff but the solid cocoa butter in a stick). Works great as a moisturiser and smells yummy too!

auldspinster · 23/03/2013 13:23

Dr Bronner's and Badger Balm are good and don't have petrolatum in them. That said, my favourite is an apple flavoured shrek chapstick that I got in Poundland.

EMUZ · 23/03/2013 17:20

Dermalogica
Blistex - the intensive cream one

BikeRunSki · 23/03/2013 17:22

Burt's Bees

myalias · 23/03/2013 17:24

Burts Bees

Chinateacup · 23/03/2013 21:35

Lansinoh.
Eve Lom.

LadyEdith · 23/03/2013 22:13

Chapstick - lots of great flavours.

RatPants · 23/03/2013 22:15

I'd rate Body Shop above Carmex and most others tbh.

RunningAgain · 23/03/2013 22:23

Carmex tastes disgusting (yes I know you're not meant to eat it!)
Body shop vitamin e
Burts bees
Palmers
