aluminium free deodorant that works?

So that's it basically! I use Bionsen which is good but sometimes I work in very hot environments and it doe sent do the job like the others more chemically crap. So... Any ideas? Happy to buy them on the net if necessary.

I've not found one that really works to stop sweat unfortunately but I quite like Tom's peach deodorant stick and am also currently using a Sanex one which has natural mineral alum, apparently. The best thing you can do is wear layers of natural fibres and strip off!

I dont want to stop sweat, they are antiperspirants and not ti good for your health, I want it to stop the odour. I dont sweat much so that is why I am looking for a deodorant that is not an antiperspirant. I have only found the Bionsen one.

I rather like Lush's T'eo - lovely lemony scent that lasts all day.

I used to spend ages looking for deodorants (not antiperspirants) that were alcohol- and aluminium (and CFC) free, and almost always ended up getting a men's stick deodorant. Some of the fragrances are perfectly unisex - CKOne and Issey Miyake were favourites, and I'm pretty sure they were aluminium-free. The last one I bought was from L'Occitane which also fits that description but I've given up wearing deodorant at all so it's just sitting there in my bathroom cabinet

The Sanex one I have is called Sanex 0% and is free from aluminium, parabens, alcohol and some other stuff. I got it in the 99p store too

Pitrok spray is very good indeed, used to use it. But for years now I have been using Weleda Sage Deodorant (in the blue packaging). All their range are quite good but the sage one is brilliant. It comes in a spray. I also sometimes use Biosen roll-on but that isn't as good IMHO.

I use aluminium and alcohol free ones.

I sometimes freshen up with wipes and re apply.

I like the Weleda ones as they are quite strong on the perfume, but they are too pricey for me.
I use Bionsen or an Aus one called Jason. the Jason ones are solid sticks and quite fragranced. I can often get away with not bothering to reapply with these.

but Pitrok is ammonium alum, thats aluminium too, its a different variety but aliminium nevertheless... I got Bionsen again but the stick one which has a stronger fragrance.

Was going to suggest Pitrock - its very good, didn't realise it had aluminium in it.

Just checked - it doesn't have it in it.

I just been to Boots and on the ingredients it says ammonium alum, that is aluminium

This is an old thread, yes, but I am still on the quest! I have just notice that the aerosol deodorants don't name aluminium or Alum on the ingredients, but the roll on ones do! so I don't understand, I always thought that roll on where healthier but the spray ones are actually less harmful to us, but maybe more harmful to the environment??

Anyone has any thoughts about this?

Hi kione.. I bought some liquid foot powder so I could wear brogues without socks. In the interest of research I applied it to my pits yesterday, and it worked quite well.. I've heard that milk of magnesia works as well.

Have you looked at natural deodorants? I use either bicarb of soda (use it like talc but just on my armpits) or I mix bicarb with coconut oil and essential oils to make more of a cream (it's liquid when the weather is hot but a cream when temps are cooler due to the coconut oil). Either of these work well for me as a deodrant whereas shop bought deodorants were useless....

I really like the Tom's of Maine one too. Found the Jason one made me (and DP) stink to high heaven so we had to stop using it!

I've tried them all, the best one is Soapwalla, only available in the UK from Content Beauty, it's £14 but lasts for months

Salt of the Earth is naturally-ocurring Potassium Alum.

Also some aluminium compound are harmful, some are not. The element aluminium is not harmful in itself so alum in ingredients does not mean bad things. There is also the difference between natural and nature-identical - lots of so-called natural brands use the latter - there is no percentage of natural required to qualify for the label. Same with 'organic.'

Bionsen aerosol is best by a country mile!

I have been suffering with horrible spots under my arms which I initially put down to stress as I broke up with my long term partner.

However, I realised it was triggered by using a 48 hour deodorant/anti perspirant.

I hadn't realised that many makes had changed from 24 to 48 hour and I have done tests and the 48 hour ones are what give me these awful lumps and spots.

Now I find that it has triggered off a reaction that on occasion even the 24 hour ones can cause a reaction.

Thankfully I don't sweat much so have not been using anything and the spots have been clearing up.

But I would like the dry feeling that a deodorant/anti perspirant gives so I bought Gold bond medicated powder after reading it can be used to keep you dry!

It is brilliant, doesn't clog pores and I just very lightly dust a tiny amount not each armpit and it keeps me fresh and dry all day.
