Mid-priced facial moisturiser for REALLY dry skin?

I have been spoiled by a free sample of Clarins Hydraquench for cold climates but at £34 that's not an option for me. It was rich, creamy and I woke up with peachy skin. Is there a cheaper one out there that has the same effect?
I've tried:
Ponds
Lancome
Jason aloe vera
Nivea
Boots botanics
Simple
Lidl Q10

and they're too perfumed and thin and in fact don't make a difference at all. I'd love to hear of one that works! Had a look on here for dry skin threads and didn't find any answers. Cheers!

Try La Roche Posay? I've found their products perfect for my dehydrated and sensitive skin. Other posters on other threads in S&B regularly rave about how great they find La RP for their skin types, including very dry. There was a thread on this brand a while ago. I;ll try and find it and link.

I use skin nanny maybe called British nanny now from lush. It's mixed with sun lotion so I find it a bit more creamy and thick. It's slightly more expensive £24 I think but it lasts me for ages as you only need a tiny amount I probably only buy a pot every 4-6months

Nope, never tried Avene. Boots do La RP, and frequently do a 3 for 2 offer.

Definitely La RP. My skin has been HORRENDOUS lately, dry and flaky and I had resorted to using neat almond oil to moisturise which didn't work. I read on here about La RP the other week and thought I'd buy some with my boots points to try. OMG, I'm just gutted it's taken me so long to find out about it! My skin is totally transformed, to the point where I can put my face powder on and go, usually I have to stand in front of the mirror for ages trying to hide the flakes.

I went back today and bought another tube (it's the Cicaplast I'm using) and some face wash and toner as its on 3 for 2 :)

Eucerin. Amazing, especially their night cream.

I love avene range, really soothe my skin when it gets dry and very sensitive when my hayfever gets bad. I use the basic one at £12 a bottle

Aveeno is really good, never tried posay range

MrsMeow, I'm nearly sold on this! did you get advice from Boots on which LRP cream to buy? I had a look at their stock online and there seem to be lots of dry skin ones by that manufacturer.

I use nivea creme, MIL recommended it and she has gorgeous skin. I use it at night and then only need a lighter one in the day so use Johnsons with SPF 15.

Both work very well and are really well priced!

Avene is fab.

I have used Vichy Aqualia Baume Minerale and it did help a lot.
I currently use an Avene Soothing Moisturising Serum, but have used Eucerine night Cream in the past.
All good!
Serum might be a bit lighter.

I've been using Caudalie & very pleased. First winter without dry patches! Have you considered a facial oil? Rosehip oils are pretty popular & easily available

Thanks Iate, no haven't tried an oil but the Clarins salesperson, obviously massively on commission recommended one called Santana or something. Might be worth a go. A friend mentioned apricot kernel. I haven't hear of Caudalie.

I would just sound a word of warning re the La RochePosay Cicaplast. I read about it on the other thread this week, bought it, and am covered in the angriest, most painful allergic rash all over my face that I've ever had. The irony of this from a cream aimed at sensitive skins makes it worse! 15 hours in, 5 x anti-histamine tablets, and my face looks like the top layers of skin have been peeled off.

Patch test, ladies!

Body Shop Vitamin E Cream intense is very rich but non-greasy.

Clarins Santal oil.

Ok Mendi! Won't be buying it online tonight then. Aveeno brought my hands out in a fierce fireball or a rash once. You just never know. I've heard good stuff about that Vit E Cream, Schnitzel but is your skin really dry? Seriously, it's like my skin just sucks up all the moisturiser in an instant and in the morning it's so dry I may as well not have bothered.

Ha! No samples coffee I think she smelt a rat and knew I wans't going to buy then and there. I got samples of their Hydraquency dry night cream (amazing) and anti-ageing day cream.

like Schnitzel i use Body shop vitamin E face cream. In fact I use their toner and facial wash too. It leaves my face so soft

Try Doublebase.(used for eczema)

I find Nivea soft is better than Nivea ...erm... not soft.

Avene Avene Avene. Will solve all your problems. Wonderful stuff.
