Anyone interested in a 'what we are buying'wearing' thread for those of us who love clothes but have a New Look/Dorothy Perkins/Primark/HM budget?

I love following some blogs and I liked lurking on the AW threads but I can never afford the clothes, shoes and bags that are talked about. I love looking at different styles and then have the challenge of trying to find a cheaper look on the cheaper end of the high street. I'd love to hear what others are finding to give me some ideas.
One of the blogs I follow is doesmybumlook40.blogspot.co.uk, I love Kat's style and whilst she has the odd bit from Primark or H&M there is a lot of Toast, Massimo Dutti, Jigsaw, Whistles and these are just too expensive for me.
So, does anyone fancy sharing tips on good finds on the budget highstreet?

Looking for my Selma Blair jeans online, I've found these in Matalan . Not the right type obviously, and not my normal style but think with nude pumps and a plain top they'd look really good in the spring/summer. I think I'll try to call in at some point and see them.

The other thing to add to my wish list are cheap, ideally patent leather, navy ballet pumps. I had some last year from Matalan and I loved them, navy seemed very hard to find.
I've wrecked them on holiday and know I'll want more for the summer so I'm starting to keep my eye out now. I usually only spend £5-£10 on ballet pumps so looking for cheap ones. The £7 nude ones in Asda at the moment are excellent by the way.

Marking my place :)
I love models own nail varnish I've tried loads expensive and non and I always go back to this :)

Has anyone tried the asda bum&tum jeans at all?

I tend to shop at matalan/asda/primark/new look

Asda had some nice ballet pumps in which I want to stock up on a few pairs for spring.

My next purchase needs to be a pair of black skinny jeans but I've got my leg in plaster for another 4 weeks so its just leggings at the mo as that's all thy fits over my cast

I bought a couple of pairs of patent ballet pumps from Asda last year and they were great. I had them in nude, bright pink and gold - think they were less than £10. I see they've got them in again but not sure what colours.

I've had real trouble with Primark super soft's after 2 washes they have faded really badly- black.
They grow and sag when you wear them and I even tumble dried them in an attempt to keep them from sagging but within half hour they look terrible.
I'm off to Sainsburys! I wonder if they will do a 25% off promotion soon?
Interesting to know about their bras.

H&M, another convert, I don't buy much from there but what I do buy lasts.

Can't you get the Next jumper delivered free to store? I do that all the time as I am too tight to pay delivery

Report
MimikosPanda · 03/02/2013 19:57

I do that too Jemima, I don't have a Next account so I go instore, order and pay for what I want and then go back to collect it later for free.

I love that Next sweater. Good find, issimma.

I was in there on Friday and couldn't see past the racks and racks of drab workwear.

Really Ginger? Excellent, I'll make a bee line for it in the next few days, I've had some really good pumps from there. My best are a pair of gold (muted gold, not brassy gold) ones that were £2 and are so comfy they are like wearing slippers. Thanks so much for the tip, it was so hard finding some last year because all the ones I found were either pricey or had some sort of nautical gold thing glued on the front which I didn't want.

Yes they had lots of them in my local store on Wed. Pretty sure they were patent effect.

My planned clothes for today have changed, the look I'll be going for today will be.... pyjamas and a runny nose. I think I need to declare the house in quarantine. Gah.

I'm in on this thread my dear nan always tells me I have champagne taste and lemonade money Grin but I love reading all the high end shops threads and have a rummage through high street and charity shops for similar items. H&M has a Hermes style scarf at the moment which is lovely and nicer than the original

My only bug bear with the highstreet is the lack of trousers for the long legged!

Today's outfit is black New look trousers, a nude NL cami, an orange faux wrap H&M top and knee high next boots. Smile

You lot are a bad influence - I just ordered that denim shirt from Next. I also stuck a "wild card" onto the order: these harem trousers.

They are not remotely nappy-like, are mega-cheap and look sooo cute on the model. Well, we shall see.....

At work today, so wearing:

Blue bootcut trousers (H&M)
White cotton voile square-neck top (White Stuff via eBay)
Teal chiffon-edge lambswool cardi (Boden sale)
Long silver necklace with little silver and abalone discs (charity shop)
Black heeled brogues (Clarks)

I like those Harems Cointreau - not something I would ever have thought of but you could wear them with layered t-shirts and ballet flats or sandals.
