Anyone interested in a 'what we are buying'wearing' thread for those of us who love clothes but have a New Look/Dorothy Perkins/Primark/HM budget?

I love following some blogs and I liked lurking on the AW threads but I can never afford the clothes, shoes and bags that are talked about. I love looking at different styles and then have the challenge of trying to find a cheaper look on the cheaper end of the high street. I'd love to hear what others are finding to give me some ideas.
One of the blogs I follow is doesmybumlook40.blogspot.co.uk, I love Kat's style and whilst she has the odd bit from Primark or H&M there is a lot of Toast, Massimo Dutti, Jigsaw, Whistles and these are just too expensive for me.
So, does anyone fancy sharing tips on good finds on the budget highstreet?

Issima- what size are you. I have just seen the most gorgeous pair of white stuff flat tan, lace up ankle boots on eBay, currently going for a tender. They look brand new. I am very tempted myself?
Mimikos, your style sounds exactly the same as me. I am also a cold bod so in this winter I have tried to buy a few uniqlo (online, no uniqlo near me)heat techs and a few warm jumpers that are really comfortable. I bought a gorgeous white stuff one which is a burnt orange colour, still there on sale, and a couple from gap so that i dont wear hoodies! I also have a rule and are only trying to buy things when I have a discount code. It's also important that I don't feel too precious when the kids get snot and other mucky stuff on me! I wouldn't want to feel worried all the time. It's only clothes after all!?
I will have a try in DP for the skinnies, thanks.

I haven't tried them myself but Primark supersoft skinnies for £11 are always raved about.

I fancy the tapered jeans myself, I think I 'm too fat for skinnies and I love ankle skimmers.

The other thing I am after is a few jumpers that are kind of box shaped, ifyswim, so a bit looser. Would like some nice ones.
Issima, I didn't put the size, they are a 5, if you are interested?

I have also been thinking I could do with a pair of boyfriend style jeans, to turn up for spring,,,,.but have realised that I have several pairs in my wardrobe that are straight leg that I ditched for my beloved skinnies, but think may fit the job, so I'm gonna look them out I think?, or does that sound naff?

Marking my place. My wardrobe definitely needs an overhaul (and am heading back to the UK next weekend for some family time shopping so need some tips!).

The SusieSoSo blog suggests using old straight leg trousers, so you might be on to a winner there.

Thanks for the H&M skinnies recommendation Mia. Am going to check them out (and just found them on the Dutch H&M website for 10 euros Smile )

Thank goodness for this thread. I was beginning to think I was the only person on here who goes to 'normal' shops. I've asked before about High St shopping - but some people's high streets are obviously very different to mine!

I'm joining in too, made it my resolution to smarten myself up a bit as was feeling v scruffy and bored of my 'look' (had DD2 in November so still have baby weight to lose and huge boobs to accommodate)Blush would love some inspiration!

I'm in. I need to get new jeans as I exist on 2 pairs and one pair has a hole in the knee. I did see some higher-waisted slim jeans in New Look a few weeks ago so I'm going to investigate them.

TBH I do really well out of the sales these days, I've even dug out some gems in the TU sale rail.

Oh and I've just bought some black and indigo jeggings from oasis which are really nice with lots of stretch and only 28 pounds. Also a cream peplum jumper with crystals around the neckline from next, doesn't sound great on paper but v flattering to a post baby tummy!

Can I join please?

This is my type of thread!
I'm a mix of high street and sadly no designer!

Looking for new footwear as my fake uggs will not cut it when we get into spring. [ hopeful]

Ideas appreciated... Scared I get mum boots which are spoken of on here!
Wear skinnies, straight leg jeans or leggings with jumper dresses.

Today I am wearing:

H&M dark blue skinnies
Primark long-sleeved, scoop neck t-shirt (navy)
Zara dark brown long cardi
Primark navy and brown big scarf
DottyP's brown ankle boots

Feel a bit too matchy-matchy, so may change later. Just realised that my underwear cost more than the rest of my outfit. Shock

I got a lovely Levi check shirt in TK Maxx last week to wart with skinnies and either Uggs ( I love them and don't care of people don't rate them ) or ballet flats in Spring. It's sort of a soft lilac and lovely material. Am also eyeing up an owl print dress in taupe & black.

TK Maxx on a Monday morning after dropping DD at preschool has produced a few gems. New stock goes in on a Monday and it hasn't had time to be ransacked!

I don't know if they still have them but I got quite a decent pair of black skinny jeans in Matalan some time ago.

I got them as cheap site trousers as they fitted tucked into my chunky site boots well but they've become a favourite part of my normal wardrobe now.

Not really a fan of budget clothes/ cosmetics but I did buy a MAU lipstick & cream blusher after reading about it on another thread. The blusher is great, lipstick useable but not brilliant, doesn't really give a smooth or even coverage.
Sorry that's my only contribution as I really can't get excited about supermarket clothes.

Fantastic idea and good on you for starting this thread! I thought it was just me that was outta sync with everyone else! I buy wherever I see something I like within a budget(at times).... and am dressed for work well every day with stuff from Primark, TKMaxx (cardigans) and mostly leather boots/wedges that are five years old but good quality back before the recession! I have just discovered VILA clothing and I could buy most stuff on their website. I have aconcession type store in my town with Vila and Vero Moda, their stuff is as cheap as Primark but nicer...I bought two fine knit tunic style jumpers in dark khaki and navy yesterday for 45 euro(ire) and I love them....Really nice with leggings or jeggings with a big scarf I think. I also love the scarves in Primark but I buy two and sew them together.....then you gotta big Jennifer Aniston scarf look!! Keep this thread going girls..love it! Must learn to do links for Vila and Vero Moda......

It's not that I'm a FAN of supermarket clothes, just that sadly I don't really have much of an option at the moment.
