'nude' lipstick

I want a nude(ish) lipstick that isn't a flat colour but has a bit of an iridescent(?) sheen but isn't too brown iyswim?

I've been watching the RHOBH and have been inspired by their lip shades...

One of my current favourites is Dior Addict in Incognito.

So which brand would have the best staying power?

Mac is very highly pigmented so it tends to stay really well.

Lipstick Queen Saint Nude (altho can be too 'brown')
MAC Cherish
Revlon (forget name but always can get it in Boots)
Tom Ford Blush Nude (£££)

Dior addict extreme is brilliant - fairly shear so any of their natural colours are good and a god send if like me you suffer from dry lips

Yes, the Dior Addict I recommended above - Incognito - is one of the Addict Extreme range and it's lovely and sheer. Certainly not matte but not 'frosted' either. Agree lasting power is good.

I have three favourites.
Mac Creme de Nude
MUA Shade 13 (and only £1, I prefer it to the MAC)
Revlon Mauve it Over.

I would definately recommend trying the MUA brand in Superdrug, for £1 the quality is really good and makes it a lot easier to buy loads to try out!

forgot to add these- maybelline beige glace, its a nude with a pearlescent sheen. Also, a brilliant brilliant brilliant one for wearing anytime, NARS angelique (almost a very pared down sheer red / nude if that makes sense!)

notMarlene that link with the same person wearing all types of nude colours is AMAZING, thanks!

For a cheap try rimmel Kate moss lip colour number 26. With a nude lipliner.
Google Charlotte tilbury and look for her feline flick. She uses a nude lipstick in that. See if it works for you.

I have the same colouring and I found Revlon lip butter Berry Smoothie shade 050 to be fab. I love the mua range but found shade 13 too dark.

I find Nars Carthage pretty matte but a smidgen less matte than Ruby Woo. It is gorgeous if that helps! I wish I could wear nude lips for a change, but my lips are very pink and rosy so I look ridiculous!

Thanks Beauty! It's a gorgeous colour and I'm heartbroken to hear that the finish is as right as I'm going to find. TBH Mac is already over budget, I really shouldn't;t stretch to nars - NYX would be realistic but if it has to come to shitty lipstick that doesn't stay put then, well, my lips are lovely as they are and I've 2x 3/4 full tubes of the lovely ms woo on the go

There doesn't seem to be a reasonable dupe of schiap/Carthage in the range and I need to go less blue rather than blue. I'm liking the look of mac impassioned, don't suppose you've tried that? It seems to have a similar intensity schiap and in terms of colour it's very close moxie, I'm hoping blotting and a wee bit of powder might solve the issue with the finish.

And, rosy pink lips are fab - don't knock 'em!

I do have Impassioned (not that I'm a lipstick junkie or anything...) it's a beautiful colour that is less 'blue' than some if the bright pinks. It is more on the creamy side comparatively but not glossy at all if that makes sense. You might want to have a look at Dainty Doll It's My Party as that's a similar colour, quite matte and very pretty. Those lipsticks are about £12 in Boots and often on offer.

MAC Viva Glam V (ie.5) is a lovely pinky beige with a warm shimmer, suits loads of people and comes in a gloss as well as a lipstick. You can alter the shade slightly depending on your mood or skin tone by using a different lip pencil with it. My personal favorite is also a MAC one called Dervish which is quite a natural lip shade but on the pink side, but if you wanted slightly deeper you could try a colour called Soar.

Illamasqua's lipsticks are all matte and they do a couple of bright pinks. You can also use a matte fuschia eyeshadow (or something like MAC's Matte pigment) to blot over your lipstick if you find it's not matte enough for your liking. That's what make up artists sometimes do for fashion editorials. If you can't find what you want to achieve a look you have to improvise a little bit.

Thank you! Dainty Doll is another brand they don't sell over here (like nars, soap and glory, revlon...) but I'll have a look next time I'm in the UK.

No Illamasqua here either. I'm in the EU, not outer mongolia Angry

I find Impassioned almost neon and a touch on the coral side. A couple of my MAC favorites are Girl About Town (one of my staples) and Full Fuschia (not sure if this is one only available from pro counters) which is much more reddish pink.

Oh, and MAC's bringing out a couple of matte bright pinks in their SS '13 collection "Strength" soon so might be worth holding out for them? (Probably limited ed so if you fall in love, stock up!)
