grr

My hairdresser, who lets face it, isnt a GP said that those hair vitamins things are good. So i bought some from HOlland and barrett ( what an ODD shop) got home and they were like ZEPPELINS - no way could i swallow hte buggers

so i binned them

but she said they worked on customers with hair loss post chemo

Boots is selling shampoo and conditioner that makes your hair grow faster apparently. Available next week.

JustFabulous · 19/01/2013 17:01

Why is H&B an odd shop, Maureen?

MaureenShit · 19/01/2013 17:01

just full of snake oil , I think. ANd weirdo weight lifters

OmgATalkingOnion · 19/01/2013 17:03

Yes I was reading about the new shampoo too. Sounds interesting.

Mine seems to grow very slowlyHmm Been growing out a v short style for 8mths now. Its been an agonisingly slow process.

shrimponastick · 19/01/2013 17:03

No. I don't see how anything can make your hair grow faster.

Am growing out my short hair - Augsut 2011 I had a 1" all over crop. It's just cleared a chin length bob. sigh.

Although I have kept it trimmed into a/various styles along the way.

JustFabulous · 19/01/2013 17:04

Right.

OmgATalkingOnion · 19/01/2013 17:05

I have heard castor oil makes hair grow but who would want to put it on their hair? It'd be horrible and oily.

finlaysmum12 · 19/01/2013 17:12

ah, thank you all.
I think I need to bite the bullet and get it re-cut!
the shape is terrible (it's not my head) the back ,instead of being graduated towards the hairline is sort of chunky. And the bob-bit is missing from around my ears, there is almost a space for my ears to pop through...

it IS my own fault-lazy and unorganised I popped into a "no appointment needed" place.

Luckily I suit hats.

I started a thread about this new shampoo a while back, however didn't get any replies regarding the shampoo probably because its new!

You can get it from Amazon, my sister has ordered some, don't know if she has used it yet. To be honest i'm still unsure shampoo can actually encourage quicker hair growth, i'm more convinced of what you put inside your body, so vitamins, diet would have a more profound effect? That said, i think i'm just going have to accept that my hair has reached it's cut off point in life & for as long as i am on the meds i am on, i doubt it will grow back to the length it was and for as long as i am dying it, it won't help either!

JustFabulous · 19/01/2013 17:21

I am considering getting some as I let a haridresser cut 4 inches off my hair and the thought still makes me want to cry. I will never ever go against my instincts again.

OmgATalkingOnion · 19/01/2013 17:33

Sad Agree JustFabulous. It's very easy to get talked in to things in hairdressers isn't it?

JustFabulous · 19/01/2013 18:54

The voice saying no was deafening.

mirpuppet · 19/01/2013 18:55

No.

NuzzleandScratch · 19/01/2013 18:57

Nope, you can't make hair grow faster.

Dancergirl · 19/01/2013 19:04

Brushing your hair vigourously with your head upside down MAY help - encourages good blood flow to the roots.

Shampoo and conditioner WON'T work - growth comes from the roots.

NotMostPeople · 19/01/2013 19:12

Zinc helps.

carbondated · 19/01/2013 19:30

I read the reviews for the new shampoo/conditioner and decided against getting it because so many said it dried their hair out so much. Mine is fine, dry and gets knotty with most conditioners so don't think I'm going to fork out for these 'wonder' products. I take multivits and omega 3 capsules and have a healthy diet but my hair growth is pitiful. It's taken nearly 2 years to grow it from mid-neck length graduated bob to just about collar bone length.

OrchidFlakes · 19/01/2013 20:43

I think kelp tablets are meant to help Hmm

Viviennemary · 19/01/2013 21:03

A yoga book I read years ago said the headstand or shoulder stand was good for hair growth. And more blood went to the head. Hmm not sure how medically correct that is.

fuckadoodlepoopoo · 20/01/2013 10:41

Mines getting shorter! Have wanted to grow it for about the last ten years but it gets to shoulder length and stays there. I had come to terms with that but now getting shorter!

Zappo · 20/01/2013 10:45

Think Silica supplements are supposed to be good. Think I read somewhere that Jennifer Aniston used to take them

Eliza22 · 29/01/2013 12:02

I have had short hair for ages. Sometimes I grow it into a bob then, I get fed up of having to use a hair dryer and have it cut short and fuss free again.

Problem now? As much as I love my short hair, it's so bloody expensive having it done 4 to 6 weekly. So, am thinking ill grow again but want to speed up the in between stage. Anyone tried anything they think actually works?

Will try to post some pics of my head Grin
