Foundation for pale pink-toned Irish skin?

Have used Max Factor for years but want a more luxury base. Have normal skin (maybe a tad dry) but very pale. Even the palest shades in most ranges look yellow/tan at jawline even when blended.

Want decent coverage - don't really like dewy thin foundations (was looking at YSL Touche Eclat and reviews say it's very low pigment).

Esteé Lauder Double wear is out as according to all recent reviews they've discontinued the only shade that might have worked (shell).

Don't like Mac foundation or Bobbi Brown (too yellow).

Current possibility is Illamasqua Skin Base in 2. Highly recommended by Pixiwoo. Anyone used?

Happy to spend £30-£40.

No advice but i'll squeeze my arse into a corner and watch if I may. I have pale pink Irish skin and never wear make up because all foundation looks so crap on me.

Have you tried the no.7 colourmatch in boots? I know it isn't a premium brand but they scan your face to get a match. I am very pale faced but not pink toned and I got an excellent match.

I swear by the Revlon DNA or whatever it's called. I've tried more expensive brands and always come back to this. The Lancome one I found too thick.

wont I've never got on with No.7 but could be worth a go. I'm afraid that the machine, like the scary make-up ladies, will think I want to look like a TOWIE person!

I have this exact skin tone too. Bare minerals foundation in Fair works for me. Bobbi Brown has some good pale shades too. I really miss Prescriptives Custom Blend foundation though

I don't wear make up regularly and have a fear of looking orange but it wasn't. They recommended one shade lighter than I had guessed and gave me a sample to try at home and a little makeover. I came out looking fresh faced as if I had a good night's sleep.

I'm Scottish with reddy-blonde hair and my skin is so pale I'm verging on blue! I've tried everything over the years, and for a long time the best match was Vichy tinted foundation in porcelaine, but that seems to have been discontinued.

I now veer between a Lancôme one (appx £30) and an Avon one, that was cheaper and better. I'll post the exact shades when I next go upstairs.

Double wear light? I use it and love it; for less coverage I mix with a little liz Earle tinted moisturiser.

I have similar pale Irish skin with a pink undertone and I am currently using shisiedo and clarins foundations, also can recommend smashbox colour correcting primer under foundation, tones down the pink.

Illamasqua Skin Base is lovely. Dior Skin Nude, Laura Mercier Moisturising foundation, YSL Touché Éclat all beautiful too and come in v pale pink tones.

I use diorskin nude in shade 010. Gives me a lovely complexion and still very natural looking. Irish and pale.

I've found the best one ever and you don't need to spend a fortune. Try the Maybelline FIT range. They also do matching concealers which are much better than Touch Eclat.
I have white skin+sun damage+freckles that all need evening out. It does the job beautifully without going darker IYKIM.
Oh and that lovely long grey haired model recommeded it privately ie not an advert.

Oh no! I have pretty much the exact same skin as you and have Illamasqua skin base in 2...

It's better than their old foundation which I think is meant more as theatrical make up, very very heavy and takes ages to apply. The old one made me look like I had snake skin skin, unless I exfoliated with a brillo pad...

If you are going to use Illamasqua and you have slightly dry skin, you will need to make sure you exfoliate very well first and that you moisturise. It works much better if you use a brush, far too heavy to apply with hands really.

Hopefully it works for you, skin base is very good when you get your skin up to decent condition to use it, it's more like a paint on mask than make up!

I was going to say, I love the covergirl/olay range, it's brilliant. :)

My skin is in pretty good nick. Exfoliate often and have found a good rich moisturiser so hopefully it'll work OK.

I wear mostly pin-up make-up and have been after a good full coverage porcelain base for ages.

Am watching YouTube reviews as I type and it sounds hopeful.

I bought it as I was always in pin up make up too (can't be arsed with the effort now I have a toddler DS runnng rings round me) :). It really is very good, mines is pretty good condition as well, only very slightly dry around my nose.

It is the perfect coverage and tone for the vintage look, just takes some work because it is so heavy. :) I'm sure you'll get on fine with it, just hadn't noticed your name when I came on this thread so I thought it might just have been for a normal everyday look where you take 2 minutes to shove some foundation on. If you're used to spending time on your make up though you wont have any problems.

I hate MAC as well, makes me look jaundiced.

MAC is bad. I also went to an Estee Lauder counter last week and the lightest shade they had in the Double Wear was a yellowy sand. Eurgh.

Anyway, has me convinced!

She's identical to me in colouring, is wearing/reviewing the No.2 shade, has blotchy red bits and a tendency towards dry skin AND is from N.I. I have faith

The Illamasqua skin base is actually really adjustable coverage. It can be applied to look very natural and sheer, believe it or not. It is very concentrated so the reason you're probably finding it very heavy and painstaking to apply is that you may be using too much at once. Try just a tiny blob at a time and add more as you need it. It's very easy to apply quickly and with your fingers if you're sparing.

In case anybody else needs one, max factor lasting performance in fair is very pale!

I've the same colouring.
The only liquid foundations I've found work are Revlon Age Perfect or Colourstay, but you need Ivory which you can't always find, since they discontinued Lucidity in Pale Ivory Estée Lauder are too yellow, so are all Bobbi Brown & Chanel.
I had the Boots matchy thing done & thought it was good, till I found the colour, I'm the palest Calico, isn't exactly the same in each formulation & some turn yellowish.
Best for colour match are Bare Minerals in Fair or Laura Geller in Porcelain, but they're both powder foundations.

I think I am lucky in that although I am pale I have yellow rather than pink tones.

Yes to Colourstay Aquelven! I found Ivory too pale even for my pale Irish skin but buff was a bit too dark, so I bought both and mixed them up, perfect!

Body shop's all one compact used to be good, (whatever the lightest shade was) not sure if they still do it.

Apparently Estée Lauder are not discontinuing shell. Too many people complained so they said they will keep on making it. I have pale skin with a slightly pinky tone to it and for me the best foundations are Double Wear in Bone and NARS Sheer Glow in Mont Blanc. Clinique moisture surge tinted moisturiser in the palest shade is also good on my skin tone.
