Foundation for pale pink-toned Irish skin?

Have used Max Factor for years but want a more luxury base. Have normal skin (maybe a tad dry) but very pale. Even the palest shades in most ranges look yellow/tan at jawline even when blended.

Want decent coverage - don't really like dewy thin foundations (was looking at YSL Touche Eclat and reviews say it's very low pigment).

Esteé Lauder Double wear is out as according to all recent reviews they've discontinued the only shade that might have worked (shell).

Don't like Mac foundation or Bobbi Brown (too yellow).

Current possibility is Illamasqua Skin Base in 2. Highly recommended by Pixiwoo. Anyone used?

Happy to spend £30-£40.

I'm very pale and cool-toned (=need a pink base). Very many foundations don't do light shades well, their lightest is yellow or orange on me (Double Wear Light in Intensity 1 for example). Revlon Colorstay in Ivory is my long-standing favorite - slightly too pink and pigmented, but I can live with it. Dior 010 also works.

Estée Lauder SHELL report : I nearly passed out when they told me they'd stopped it. But the girl at the counter said they are DEFINITLY bringing it back due to outraged pale people like me

I can't have Dior, Claris, Lancôme, YSL etc as they're all too yellow even in their whiter shades.

BUNNY - I have ilamasque until SHELL returns. I'd recommend you buy she'll double wear when it's back. It's a superb stay-put foundation with brilliant coverage. You can put it on in an for work and still wear it out in the evening without a touch up

I also have pale Irish skin and have always struggled with foundation, mostly because they make me look orange but then occasionally I think I've found something pale enough and discover I look like a goth instead!

The best I have found is LilyLolo mineral foundation. They have a great range of shades and have them clearly marked by skintone/warm/cool etc so its easy to find one that suits. And it looks great when its on.

I miss presriptives too. (white welsh skin). I use Lily lolo, their pale shades are really pale. There are about three very fair shades, you can get little tester packs to try them out.

Often I won't touch foundation for that very reason, went for a good concealer and a loose powder - which is fine for day wear. Recently discovered the Boots colour match system and I'm impressed, the colour chosen did look a bit scary and dark but it completely disappeared on my skin, they will give you a sample to take away and try at home....how many foundations have looked fab in the shop and then looked like shit when you put them on at home?

I have this colouring and use something too sheer for your requirements now (dr hauska), buthave used Chantecaille compact, which is a good colour and a good coverage. Very expensive though.

I use Diorskin nude 010 and found the palest Dainty Doll one too pale,I would use the second one (light) if I could try it again.

A MAC counter lady recommended Armani foundation to me- might be worth a look also.

I am another outraged by the demise of Shell DW. Great on its own or mixed with a little DW Light 1 to make it less yellow and give a nice dewy look that lasts.

Whilst awaiting its return, I have just got the palest Smashbox 15 hour Studio fix one. Tried today, and does look quite pale, although so dark and gloomy here hard to tell....

Interestingly, it seems to be made by Estée Lauder. So why nit just keep Shell?!

In between, I had a Lord and Berry one, which was ok, but was worried bit dark AND the bloody stuff fired out of its tube after an over enthusiastic squeeze, and splatted the walls, ceiling and curtain

Shell DW- was it called "shell beige" or is that another colour? (there are a few on ebay but they are all "shell beige".)

Shell beige is a different colour: much darker.

Oh, ok. there is one huge bottle on ebay in Shell, its a counter bottle refiller size so enormous, its in Australia and its at ninety something quid. You'd have to wear an awful lot of the stuff to get through it before it goes off I would think.
