...when I asked the assistant if an American 6 was a 12 and she said yes, when in actual fact it was a 10.

And I had 6 pairs of jeans in the changing room that I could squeeze into but would no way buy as they were verging on the camels hoof (iyswim).

FGS Angry

What a waste of my frigging lunch hour. Surely they should know their sizes?????????

some sales people don't know anthing helpful! read somewhere that naomi campbell is a size 0!!!!

oliveoil · 12/04/2006 13:15

0???

So that would be an english 4?

Eh?

OP posts:
oliveoil · 12/04/2006 13:16

(do I?)

bundle · 12/04/2006 13:16

no milward, that's her iq

georginarf · 12/04/2006 13:17

you mean 4 - it's mad isn't it! imagine being no size

milward · 12/04/2006 13:18

lol!! - think nancy reagan was a 0 as well! - can't imagine being no size!!

Tutter · 12/04/2006 13:19

yes, i read an article recently on the growing number of 'zero' celebs - posh, nicole richie, teri hatcher, etc. alarming.

bundle · 12/04/2006 13:19
georginarf · 12/04/2006 13:19

there will have to be a -2 size soon. I don't think I'd like to be a minus person!

oliveoil · 12/04/2006 13:20

I wouldn't want to be a 0, ewww

Naomi C doesn't look too skinny though

Sarah Jesscia P does and I think she is a 0

When you get over 30, too skinny ages you imo

I used to weigh 9 stone and I am 5' 9", ok when I was 20 but I would look hideous now.

OP posts:
Tutter · 12/04/2006 13:22

sigh me too oo - am 5'8" and was 8st13 when i met DH (aged 28). 7 years later am 10st8lbs :o( but reassure myself that i'd look extra-crow-y if i were skinny Grin

georginarf · 12/04/2006 13:22

well I am a lardarse. my size in all shops is a long way from zero
I don't think Naomi campbell can be a 4, she's too tall surely. all those short skinny minnies like SJP, Jennifer Anistson, Courtney Cox - I can believe that they're 4s.
I worked with a girl in the US who was a US size 0. I was pregnant at the time and she made me feel like a large immovable piece of furniture. it was horrid

milward · 12/04/2006 13:23

yikes bundle! -

same as me oliveoil!! now a 12/14!! think that teri hatcher looks sooo thin on Housewives !!

oliveoil · 12/04/2006 13:23

Tutter - I have only gone up half a stone, but it depends on my crisp intake!

I am happy as a 12.

But I wanted some friggin jeans in the sale, pah.

OP posts:
georginarf · 12/04/2006 13:24

anyhow they should know their sizes. They're obviously too busy training them up to accost you as you walk in

oliveoil · 12/04/2006 13:26

I know

CONFESSION: my girls got Gap vouchers for Easter and I went in to spend them Blush on me Blush.

OP posts:
milward · 12/04/2006 13:27

I got some jeans in the landsend sale on their www page - think £15 or there abouts. Sizing is US - so 8 length 32 - brill & fit like a dream. If I was a size 0 I think I'd look even more haggard than now - but then possibily not as effects of running after 4 kids is wearing! - plus love dark choc!

Tutter · 12/04/2006 13:27

am surprised you're a size 12 if only 9 1/2 stone - i get into gap 12s and am a stone heavier. maybe the hoof would have stretched (euw)?

oliveoil · 12/04/2006 13:29

us tall ones carry the weight though Tutter, everyone always thinks I should be an 8 or something ridiculous.

The 10's did fit but not well so maybe I am a 10/12 but NOTHING looks worse than too tight jeans imo.

OP posts:
milward · 12/04/2006 13:29

tutter - I always read in mags about people who are heavier than me but take a smaller clothes size!

oliveoil · 12/04/2006 13:31

Vanessa Feltz claimed to be a 10 once if I recall

OP posts:
Tutter · 12/04/2006 13:32

oo - am only an inch shorter than you though

anyway, it is something of an imprecise science. i have M&S 14s (trews, not jeans) that are too tight (because they have a waistband) but am currently sporting my seven for all mankinds which are a size 29. hmm.

milward · 12/04/2006 13:32
Shock
oliveoil · 12/04/2006 13:33

I can't fit in Kookai 14's

And Karen Millen is a joke as well, pot luck in there

M&S I am a 10

OP posts:
oliveoil · 12/04/2006 13:33

but shirts I go for 14/16 as the buttons gape!
