DD thinks if I wear trews to a wedding it'll make me look "old".

Is she right?

She is part of the wedding party, and as such is apparently privy to everyones outfit choice. She says the 90yo grand matriachs of the family will be wearing trousers, and I deffinately shouldn't.

I was thinking printed peg-legged trousers & platforms.

Is that ok for a size 16/18 wedding?

She is 10 ffs.
I am 32.

Perry they're interesting trousers. Do you really like them?

squoosh · 30/11/2012 11:43

what looks fabulous today may look frankly ridiculous in the photos in 5 years time.

But that applies to dresses as well as trousers. Print can date quite quickly but garments don't. Coco Chanel wore trousers all the time, 'nuff said.

Look at this lovely wrap dress. And a great price too! Also comes in green

I love those Limited collection trews
Why do you ask agatha? Do you hate them?
I think they'd look fab and fashion

winkle2 · 30/11/2012 12:26

Those M&S ones are horrible! Sorry!

That blue Phase Eight dress is lush!

I'd still go for the trousers though!!

musicalendorphins · 30/11/2012 12:36

My sister was maid of honour at my wedding. She wore a light blue satin trouser suit. It looked lovely. It was ten years ago mind.

seeker · 30/11/2012 12:40

I think that the fact that you call them "trews" ( unless you are Scottish) means you might need to rethink. And you are 20 years younger than me!

PerryCombover · 30/11/2012 12:44

What about these?
Bit safer

PerryCombover · 30/11/2012 12:47

Love this also. V simple and could deco accessorise

mycatlikestwiglets · 30/11/2012 12:49

Honestly OP, I think those trousers (or heavily patterned trousers generally) will make you look like a 70s sofa bigger than you are. If you're keen to wear trousers you'll look more chic in a solid colour pair in a quality fabric with a more glitzy top imo. I'd listen to your DD in this case.

PerryCombover · 30/11/2012 12:49

Honestly adore this for a wedding

mycatlikestwiglets · 30/11/2012 12:50

That Biba outfit Perry linked to ^^ is the sort of thing I had in mind

BackforGood · 30/11/2012 13:08

What mycatlikestwiglets said.
They really are awful, and not at all appropriate for a country house wedding, which should be dressy

musicalendorphins · 30/11/2012 15:24

I found an (outfit with pants) that is dressy.

AgathaF · 30/11/2012 16:19

Perry I do hate them - sorry Smile. I'm not a big fan of very patterned trousers.

winkle2 · 30/11/2012 19:12

Perry - your second link is what I'd wear to work!!

winkle2 · 30/11/2012 19:13

I mean the Mary Portas one

UterusUterusGhouli · 30/11/2012 21:40

I liked that Mary prtas outfit! Maybe needs snazzing up a bit. Not keen on the M&S strides or the floaty salwar kameze type thingy.

I orderd the phase 8 dress!
I had been l

musicalendorphins Thank you! I got the green! Will get gold bling so I look like a Christmas tree. Grin

I do like the idea of trousers, but maybe on a smaller frame.

I had been looking at that dress on the phase eight website, but it wasn't in the sale etc, so thanks for linking to the HoF site!

Great choice, you'll look fabulous.

musicalendorphins · 01/12/2012 02:08

Yay! I am glad I was a help. You'll be ravishing, green and gold, nice!

Ephiny · 01/12/2012 12:01

The wrap dress is lovely.

I quite like the Mary Portas outfit too. Maybe not the most obviously weddingy look, but very chic.
