use a clip if you feel it is looking stale

JanH · 31/03/2006 19:09

Depends on your face and the height of the ponytail I would think.

Could you put it in a big clip if a ponytail feels wrong?

Hulababy · 31/03/2006 19:10

I wear my hair in a low pony tail and I am 33! I prefer it tied back for work and when I am busy doing stuff.

robinpud · 31/03/2006 19:10

Can do things with clips etc but wonder if it starts to look ridiculous as you approach er er.............................................................................................................................................................

dont be soft robin LOL
age has nothing to do with a pony

unless the greys are peeking outGrin

JanH · 31/03/2006 19:12

I meant a big thing with teeth which would just hold it in at the back of your head, sort of like a French pleat (???).

Anyway 40 is still a mere girl, you know Grin

Bozza · 31/03/2006 19:12

Snap Hula. Smile I wear mine in a pony tail sometimes on the days I haven't washed it (every other) and I am 33.

Bozza · 31/03/2006 19:13

Other times I do the big clip thing which is actually quicker/easier.

nutcracker · 31/03/2006 19:13

I am 27 and have mine in a pony tail today.

Hulababy · 31/03/2006 19:14

I can't get clips to stay in. My hair is so fine and flyaway and very soft, nothing stays put other than a very tight elastic.

fairyfly · 31/03/2006 19:14

My mu is 60 and has one. I think it's fine, she looks like a x ballerina.

I hate rules about hair and fashion, whatever suits you.

SaintGeorge · 31/03/2006 19:14

39 and still wear a pony tail, but my hair is nearly waist length so I have to do something to keep it under control.

Did say I was going to cut it this year but friends and family are telling me not to.

JanH · 31/03/2006 19:15

nutty, you are practically a minor Grin

desperateSCOUSEwife · 31/03/2006 19:15

hula snap my hair is very fine
I use wax to keeep it in place when wearing a clip
pita imo

DumbledoresGirl · 31/03/2006 19:16

Robinpud, I am 41 and still put my hair into a pony tail if that makes you feel any better. Though I must confess I am wondering when I should have my hair cut into a middle aged style. Sad

JanH · 31/03/2006 19:16

Would that be a nice tight perm, DG?

nutcracker · 31/03/2006 19:18

LOL, I wish Jan

desperateSCOUSEwife · 31/03/2006 19:18

Dg are you talking blue rinse here babeGrin

expatinscotland · 31/03/2006 19:19

i don't think it ever does on some people.

DumbledoresGirl · 31/03/2006 19:20

JanH and DesperateScousewife, I don't know, which shall I go for? Or should I have both? Grin

robinpud · 31/03/2006 19:22

Don't have any grey- hooray!
Am not 40 for a couple of years- thank goodness
Just very thick chestnut stuff, the sort of hair for which straighteners were invented!
It's hard to look in the mirror and be realisitc. Sometimes I look fine and other I wonder if I am still alive I look so ghastly.

desperateSCOUSEwife · 31/03/2006 19:22

go for both for maximum old fart effectGrin

GDG · 31/03/2006 19:22

Mine's in a pony tail today - I'm 33. It's always in a pony tail if it's not been washed or I've washed it but not had time to dry it/straighten it properly. I wear it in the middle though - not a high, chavtastic one, and not a low at the neck one.

MMH · 31/03/2006 19:25

lol, I have plaits today, Im 33. I say its if it suits you, not how old you are.

The big 'no no' is when you have a ponytail because your hair could reallly do with washing.

lovecloud · 31/03/2006 19:27

There is no age for your average pony tail which is tied up half way down the back of your head or low near the your neck.

Obvously side pony tails and higher ones tend to suit people under 23/25 depending on how old they look.

Two low bunches or plaits suit alot of people and dont look silly on them up until 30ish - again depends on how you age.

I could not believe my beautican was 23 - I thought she was at least 30, especially as she talks about her husband, is very mature and facially looks older. Since I have been going to her she always spoke to me slightly patronizing but I let her off as she is nice. But a couple of weeks ago she asked me my age and was shocked and said she thought I was about 21 Grin - nice! I asked her and had to try hide my shock.

So I guess its not always age but how old you look.

I think pony tails look nicer on people over 30 who have a fringe as it looks softer.
