Help! My hair looks like a witch wig for Halloween!

I dyed it "dark brown" and it has turned out jeg black.

Many washes later it is still jet black and it is so solid the colour it look awful. Peoples comments are "oh your hair is very dark isn't it?" Which translates to "why the fuck is your hair that colour?"

I then decided that I would buy a reddy colour, which promises to show up on very dark brown hair so I thought a tinge of red would make it deeper, nicer. But no it is too black to show up.

I need to go and get it fixed don't I? I can't wear my hair in a bun forever! What do I ask them to do? IS there anything they can do? Highlights to break it up?

I am scared my hair will turn orange and fall out. I can provide witch hair photos if it will make you more sympathetic to my plight. Please help.

And maybe avoid dyeing it anymore, it could go really odd (even more than the blackest of black).

Um, I think you might need a hairdresser, but I bet it's not that bad.

I assume it was a permanent dye (which I know very little about tbh, am too disorganised to cover my grey on a regular basis).

Could you get red hair mascara or something?

I think there's a few products you can buy to help remove colour. Boots do one- colourB4? I think its called that. No idea if they work but good luck.

I really don't want to do it myself, I am picturing it coming out in clumps and smoking and being orange green!

Can I get highlights in it? would that work? Just to break up the witchyness?

ok you need to buy 2 boxes of colourb4 extra strength for darker hair. get a friend over to help you apply it. it will strip all the artificial colour out of your hair and take it back to the lightest colour it has been. there is no ammonia in it. apply the first colour remover and see if it has removed all the colour. if not apply the second. that should be you sorted. then wear a scarf for a few days to let your hair settle then dye it with a lighter brown or a dark blonde, depending on what colour you want, remembering that they always go darker than they look on teh box.

one box of colourb4 costs between £8-£12 depending on where you get it. asda have it at £8.

You could try colour b4 extra strength but this may make your hair a lightish orangey colour - it will strip out the pigment but any bleach/peroxide in the dye that has lightened your hair, the effects of that cannot be reversed.
Then you put a non permanent, ash-toned brown colour a shade lighter than you desire on - this should get rid of the warm, orangey tones.

Disclaimer - I can't guarantee it will work, that's just what should happen - maybe do a bit of google research first?

netto I did have red hair marcara, and green! I loved the red one! Although it did make your hair all hard and odd!

you will have orange egg hair!

it will only go orange if you have bleach under the dark colour. do you? if the colour under your dark one is your natural mousey brown it will go mousey brown. it will remove all artificial colour and take your hair to the lightest it has been so if you haven't bleached it then it wont go that light.

Yes but then you can dye it a lighter colour :D If I want medium brown I go for the lightest brown shade. It always comes out darker than on the box.

The only other thing I would suggest is washing it repeatedly with dandruff shampoo or fairy washing up liquid. Your hair wont feel very nice afterwards but it should fade.

Head and shoulders strips the dye out without damage :)

I think your hair looks nice and glossy. I dye my hair the same colour by choice. I second head and shoulders for fading the colour, or any cheap clarifying shampoo.

Even if you've not bleached your hair a lot of dyes contain peroxide which does bleach your hair so the darker pigment stays on it. Colour b4 will take the pigment out but leave the effects of the peroxide so it may look a bit orange/warm toned but you can dye on top.

Sounds like maybe you just need to get used to it though if others are saying it looks lovely. (On phone so can't look myself). Maybe try different makeup?

at hair pepper's I look like a condom. it actually doesn't look too bad in that pic but it is way too dark for my skin and isn'tall same colour. am getting some of it removed. and highlights to break it up.

they all did that sympathetic head tilt thing when I walked in!
