Is there a modern equivalent? If so which brand?

noddyholder · 15/10/2012 13:00

so pretty with no other make up

QuinnFabray · 15/10/2012 13:01

MAC Ruby Woo

MaureenCognito · 15/10/2012 13:03

she has loads of make up on nod

noddyholder · 15/10/2012 13:20

not really, no other colour.I only like red with a bare face though otherwise a bit drag queen. I have met her at work once stunning and not over made up

Iatemyskinnyperson · 15/10/2012 13:43

The Rimmel Kate Moss ones have matts

millymae · 15/10/2012 13:43

There was an article about matt lipsticks in the weekend Guardian magazine last Saturday - here's the link, with fingers crossed that it works www.guardian.co.uk/fashion/2012/oct/12/sali-hughes-matt-lipsticks?newsfeed=true

Hetaera · 15/10/2012 16:27

I second Mac Ruby Woo! Also have a look at Mac's Russian Red. Both are matte in texture and one of them will suit your colouring. For me (mousy hair, pink complextion) it's Ruby Woo every time.

cocolepew · 15/10/2012 16:29

The KM Rimmel one in number 1 is good if you are sallow.

noddyholder · 15/10/2012 16:32

I am going to look at the kate moss ones Are they cheap?

Revlon have some lovely matt lipsticks in bright and deep reds and pinks. They are pricier than rimmel, but very long lasting, and cheaper than mac!

colditz · 15/10/2012 16:39

A surprising amount of people can pull off a nice rich red.

cocolepew · 15/10/2012 16:39

KM lipsticks are about £5.49 in Boots, the Revlon matt ones are about £2 dearer.

Woozley · 15/10/2012 16:43

The stay on lipsticks tend to be quite matt - I tend to put lip balm over the top once it has dried but if you didn't do this they would be very matt.

BeauNeidel · 15/10/2012 16:46

MAC Russian Red for me! Apparently the new Kate Rimmel lippies are very nice as well, although as I have about 10 red lippies I shall try to abstain.

scentednappyhag · 15/10/2012 16:46

I cheat... Barry M bright red lip liner all over my lips- comes out lovely and bright, stays on all day no matter how much kissing you do and doesn't break my (admittedly tiny) bank balance Smile

The Kate Moss Rimmel ones are the best. Not heavily scented, they stay on without feathering into a cats bum mouth and they wear down nicely. Mac ruby woo is very Matt but hard to put on and not as nice a texture as the Rimmel ones. The Revlon ones are good but again, I think in terms of wearability Rimmel have got it spot on.

I wear the deep berry shade which I blot if I want it less dramatic. It's a lovely plummy red. Have stocked up.

scentednappyhag · 15/10/2012 18:37

NaiceSpam (great name by the way!) I've never had a problem with patchiness, and it's usually still passable when I wake up in the morning (when I've been too drunk to properly take off my make up when I get home Grin)

plaingirly · 15/10/2012 22:21

MAC Ruby Woo or the lipsticks in the Marilyn Monroe collection.

EmBOOsa · 15/10/2012 23:38

The Besame ones are fantastic quality and totally worth their price
