It's great if you go away for a weekend also as you can fit straighteners/perfume/deodorant etc in the bottom.

Honestly it's one of the best things I have ever bought Blush

Geordieminx · 11/10/2012 16:54

try again

MissBoPeep · 11/10/2012 16:56

creams, lotions and cleansers etc are in bathroom cabinet.

Make up is on a shelf in a plastic basket from J Lewis- it's in the bathroom storage range- white plastic with little holes in the sides and a metal handle. Cost £10.

If I didn't have that I'd get some plastic boxes from Muji.

Pinot · 11/10/2012 17:18

I think I'd need a bigger one Geordie Blush I do loves my makeup :o

It's about a foot long?

Brilliant IKEA wall cupboard in bathroom. Martial order.

Top shelf: rarely used /dangerous stuff (medications, razors etc)
Shelf 2: favorite perfumes, a modest selection of 20 Wink
Shelf 3: liquid foundation (x 3) primer, eye pencils and brushes (upright in a glass jar) plus powders and e/s bases
Shelf 4: blushers, stacked; eye shadows, stacked; lipsticks, ready to grab
Shelf 5: a Muji travel bag ready to go, full of makeup miniatures, mini toothpaste, tiny perfume vials

Get rid of lipstick from 1988 and samples that are the wrong shade for you and the rarely used alternatives.

Goodness, some of you guys are extremely well organised! My nail polish is organised in a big file box thing (sorted by brand) but I would like somethign funkier. I'd need a couple of those Beauty Boxes, Geordie Minx but maybe I could get one for my faves? I do like the look of them.

My makeup is either in my make up bag (always in my handbag, contains daily essentials) and the rest of it is stuffed into a twee seagrass box thing. I did have a clear out recently and chucked out old/ damaged/ nasty colour stuff.

I yearn for a tidy and serene life

swooosh · 11/10/2012 17:58

I have one of those big Ikea chest of drawers and the whole top drawer has dividers and is filled with my makeup, spare toiletries, hair dryer, hair straighteners, etc. I also have a few boxes filled with stuff. Blush

Weirdandwonderful · 11/10/2012 18:34

8 drawers on wheels from staples
And a train case
And 2 bathroom cabinets
Blush

I'm turning a walk in cupboard into a makeup room with daylight bulbs, dressing table/chair and lots of shelving

JemimaPuddle · 11/10/2012 19:38

I would love a walk in cupboard like that weirdandwonderful

I have the Lakeland make up holder and live it! Sits very nicely with everything to hand.

ggirl · 11/10/2012 19:44

I have so much makeup
one dressing table (shit one off ebay) has makeup in one drawer and hair stuff in others
two drawers in ensuite
and my everyday used stuff in one of these hanging on the back of ensuite door , actually not one of these but primark cheapy , two of them.
really want a proper one

Pinot · 11/10/2012 19:52

Oh weirdandwonderful I would probably cry if I had a walk-in make up room. I want one of those way more than a walk-in wardrobe. Oh yes.

Lakeland is a good idea. As is drawers from Staples.

usual I look like a baked potato if I don't wear full slap Hmm :o

My dad said oh you could have a box for say eyeshadow, and one for lip stuff. Mum looked at him and went "one for green eyeshadow, one for blue eyeshadow..." Grin
Dad is building it, I'm telling him what to do and picking colours and he is supplying the manpower

I have a small makeup bag full of crap which is about 100 years old and rarely used.

However, I do have two schwartz spice racks (painted) which are full of nail varnish Blush

Weirdandwonderful · 11/10/2012 20:03

Pinot I will do photos when it's done. Although if it helps he bought me a dishwasher for Christmas and promised to fit it. 2 years ago Grin
So probably allow until 2014 for the room to be done

Nagoo · 11/10/2012 20:11

In transparent pencil cases from WH Smith.

I threw A LOT of stuff out, so now I have pencils cases for eyeshadow, 'face stuff' 'pencils and brushes' 'lipstick' and one for 'sparkly shit' Grin

Stuff that isn't open yet goes in a box on a high shelf so I can go up there and pretend I have bought myself a present.

Stuff I use every day goes in a make up bag in the dressing table so I can get it quickly.

I have a filing cabinet for nail varnish
