Hi I have really stupid skinny calves and knee high boots look stupid on me. Like wellies. Unless I wear them with too baggy jeans then I look like a farmer :(

I would love some riding style brown knee high boots. Does anyone know of any?

No. I have given up. Don't like duos. Plus so many are too short and don't hit my knee

OK I know they're perhaps not quite riding boots, but what about lace-up ones?

Also Timberland Bethel calf boots (various colours) are quite narrow-cut anyway, but also have laces and a zip. So you can lace them as tight as you want, but then don't have to faff about with the laces every time you take them off/on, you can just leave them at the right setting and use the zip. Here's one example

What is the quality of Duo boots like? I rather like the idea of being able to order by calf size (another one with skinny calves, shame about my thighs).

I've been v disappointed with the quality of duo boots - I was so excited to discover them several years ago (another skinny calver (is that a word?!) here) but I've had two pairs from there in quite different styles and both have broken badly within a few months (and they weren't worn that frequently). The heels broke off one pair and the others the whole sole came off

They did mend the ones where the heels came off but it happened again within a couple of wears.

I would buy some if they were v cheap on eBay or similar but I think they're very overpriced for the quality.

I've had a pair of Duo boots for years and they look as good as new. If you have slim calves, it's so difficult to find boots on the High Street. I'd highly recommend Duo.

russell and bromley childrens boots go up to size 5 and cost a lot less, have many of the same styles as adult boots

Don't know if anyone has mentioned this before - but, I discovered the perfect solution last winter to skinny calves and wide boots - I put on a pair of leg warmers over my leggings/jeans and folded the thick bit over at the top so it just sort of poked up a bit at the top of my boots ! was amazing ! boots fitted lovely and snug at the top and no flapping and I can't think why I never thought of this before ! you can get all sorts of colours to match your boots or your jeans etc, or contrast - it really does look good.

Good ideas here, but what about smart boots, ones you want to wear for work. Flatt(ish) heels to wear with skirts and tights/leggings. Any ideas?

Ah ! my boots were quite stiff at the top - will keep this in mind for this year's purchase !

I've got the opposite problem, giant fat legs, but chipping in re. Duo quality - I've got three pairs that I've had for a few years now, and two have lasted brilliantly. The third are only a problem because the insole thing has quite quickly come unglued and now rucks up under my foot, making them bloody sore to walk in. But should be an easy fix.

Thanks for the quality comments. I'm not sure about the OP, but personally I am happy to pay a bit more for my perfect boots, as long as they last well (and I am not talking about just a few months). Apart from anything else, I hate shoe shopping and am rubbish at it.

Depending on the size of your feet,have you thought about children's boots?
I am a size 4 and have had various lovely pairs of kids boots over the years some from boden and recently a lovely leather and suede pair from the startrite factory shop for the bargin price of £25!!

Hi! I am 5'4" and my calf measures around 12" at the widest. I have just bought a pair of black rider boots from Next and they fit perfectly!
