You know when you are going somwhere semi dressy but not glittery? ANd it might be cold?
what do you need?
A Going Out Jumper

thinnish of knit, close of fit (at the right bits) and a little low cut.

Do you have a Going Out Jumper?

No because I am not 75 and on a cruise ship

BonnyDay · 15/09/2012 16:48

scentednappyhag · 15/09/2012 16:49

Nope, it's tits and bingo wings out for me regardless of the temperature I'm afraid Grin
Not really, sometimes I sling on a cardi.

BonnyDay · 15/09/2012 16:50

i kept finding myself in a quandry last winter.
GOing out but needing to be warm. Its no good.

I live in Dubai It's not a problem ( apart from looking like a dodgy leather handbag)

PoppyWearer · 15/09/2012 16:54

I have both a silvery sequinned cardi-jacket thing (Oasis) and a cream-coloured cropped fake fur jacket that can both be chucked over anything and removed once I warm up. The fake fur jacket is years old but has served me very well indeed (Monsoon sale £19, utter bargain).

BonnyDay · 15/09/2012 16:57

yes but when in a NON glitter situation.
I was thinking of a school event i had to go to

I usually just wear a blazer (nice going out type one) or a cardie.

WillieWaggledagger · 15/09/2012 17:03

I have a dressy jumper I wear on Christmas day if we're at my parents' draughty house

BonnyDay · 15/09/2012 17:04

oh not "glittery knitwear" OOH now - is seperate category

SnapesOnAPlane · 15/09/2012 17:04

Little fur jacket sounds good
Or, perhaps an 'evening coat'?

IShallPracticeMyCurtsey · 15/09/2012 17:05

I want sexy jumper!

jamaisjedors · 15/09/2012 17:08

I agree - am often "out" in not v. warm restaurants etc.

Lately I have taken to wearing a jacket & jeans, and hiding a v. thin cardigan underneath the jacket.

Then if I'm hot I can take the cardi off and keep the jacket on.

It never gets hot enough to take the jacket off!

BonnyDay · 15/09/2012 17:09

ive been to drafty school halls for thrilling cheese and wine type things
not glitter and tits
Not slouchy jumper,
I do have millions jackets and indeed a fur one but i regard that as slightly racy too

saddo

I am wearing one later. The weather has cooled down a bit, and I am going to wear my fitted leopard skin jumper with pink trim. It's lovely! I hope I don't look too bet lynch in it though. I'm wearing it with dark skinnies and a black belted coat, and most importantly I have light brown hair (not blonde) - always think it can be difficult for blondes to do leopard skin.

MrsCampbellBlack · 15/09/2012 17:11

I tend to wear a jacket over a glam'ish top. Or thermal top under a silk shirt.

PoppyWearer · 15/09/2012 17:12

Not yet had to do the school function requiring such garb. A whole new world is about to open up to me!

BonnyDay · 15/09/2012 17:12

i went to a charity quiz and supper thing.
hardly the event you wonder what to wear for hours about. but was surprisingly hard to do

OP posts:
BonnyDay · 15/09/2012 17:12

Or some of my other work things in vair old buildings

You need your thermals on.

Lots of nice knitted biker jacets around at the moment - tried a couple on yesterday and thought they'd work well with nice scarf and dark jeans for more casual evening thang.

MrsCampbellBlack · 15/09/2012 18:24

Oh and that leopard oasis coat is still to materialise isn't it?

ujjayi · 15/09/2012 18:26

I would say an oversized but fine knit jumper is infinitely more chic than any close fitting number for "dressing up but dressing down" type moments (does that phrase make sense to anyone else? ).

ujjayi · 15/09/2012 18:27

oh and you can layer the fine knit with a long length camisole beneath (H&M for example).

JamInMyWellies · 15/09/2012 18:31

Deep v neck cashmere in various colours with a camisole under.
