You know how sometimes you buy something really good and you think everyone should know about it? Blush

I found out recently that most company's claims about not testing on animals weren't exactly true even the more expensive brands Angry. I was also shocked to learn about the chemical nasties in makeup.

A friend told me about Lily Lolo mineral cosmetics that are natural, ethically sourced and absolutely NOT tested on animals. They don't use any ingredients that have been tested on animals at any point during the supply chain either.

The makeup is really good, most of it is loose powder, but foundation and concealer coverage is fantastic, and it doesn't contain nano particles that get into your pores unlike some brands. They have some lovely highlighters, eye shadows etc. It's really affordable too.

Sorry to bang on about it, but I was so impressed that I now feel compelled to recommend it!

I love it too. My perfect foundation, am so screwed if they ever go out of business! Good customer service also.

LesleyPumpshaft · 14/09/2012 08:07

It's the best foundation and concealer I've ever used.

valiumredhead · 14/09/2012 08:19

I like it but it needs more staying power for me.

ilovemyneighbours · 14/09/2012 17:19

This foundation gives such a beautiful finish. It's fabulous!

I like it but it takes me a while with application so I generally use it for nights out andmy usual tinted moisturiser for daytime.

LesleyPumpshaft · 15/09/2012 05:04

No, I don't work for them! I just really love it and was so impressed with it I wanted to recommend it. Blush

I have read through my post again and it does sound like some sort of marketing guff. Shock

The colour range for very pale skin is excellent and it doesn't go orange unlike other well known mineral foundations! The price is right too.

I like the blushes too but cannot get on with the packaging of those.

Whenisitmysleepytime · 15/09/2012 08:25

Whats the mineral foundation like? I've been umming and aahing for ages about it.
What are the shades like? I'm pretty fair skinned but not ghostly white.

Are they in shops anywhere to try out shades?

TIA! :)

gregssausageroll · 15/09/2012 08:45

Ifind them better than bare minerals. They will send you samples for a couple of quid

ThisIsYourSong · 15/09/2012 08:48

I have found it doesn't stay either, you can get MUCH better mineral makeup than this. You shouldn't need to touch up or redo mineral makeup over a full day. My favourite mineral makeup by far is Urban Decay, you can order it online from Boots. Tis awesome.

LesleyPumpshaft · 15/09/2012 09:04

I'm very fair skinned and the concealer and foundation is really good.

Agreed, sending the samples is a great idea.

I find that the staying power is fine, a bit surprised to find out that it isn't the case for everyone.

One of my main concerns with any makeup or toiletries is that they should be free from artificial nasties like parabens etc, ethical and must be 100% cruelty free.

I was so cross to find out that loads of companies claim to be cruelty free, but use ingredients in their cosmetics that have recently been tested on animals. Sad

IShallPracticeMyCurtsey · 15/09/2012 09:16

Happy with the staying power here too tbh. Just so relieved to have finally found something pale enough, and it doesn't irritate my sensitive skin.

Although: am delighted with the look of it in real life, but do find that I can look a touch ghostly in photos.

LesleyPumpshaft · 15/09/2012 09:19

It doesn't irritate my skin either IShallPracticeMyCurtsey. I'm prone to breaking out in hives. Also, all the foundations and concealers I've tried have given me loads of wierd little pimples under my skin. Confused It's good to have found makeup that doesn't do that.

I love it too - I much prefer it to Bare Minerals etc. The shades are excellent, the samples are cheap, the price is great, I find it lasts brilliantly and their service is superb.

archfiend · 15/09/2012 10:12

Oh for gods sake! Sorry, I have been looking at this and am thinking of getting some samples. I have pale skin with freckles but a slight yellowy tone-any suggestions for which shades would work?

IShallPracticeMyCurtsey · 15/09/2012 10:24

Blondie might work for you if you have yellow tones. I use Porcelain, Blondie is too yellow for me. I think there is a new shade, China Doll, that might suit either. Get a few samples and see Smile

gregssausageroll · 15/09/2012 10:26

I have samples of in the buff and barely buff which I can send to anyone wanting to try.

Whenisitmysleepytime · 15/09/2012 10:29

Anyone got any discount codes for them? :)

I have things in my basket - mostly samples and some brushes, and was hoping to save a bit. Wink

duende · 15/09/2012 10:46

I have been using their foundation for over a year too, after trying bare minerals which was nice, but irritated my skin.
I really like lily lolo. I fancied trying liquid foundation recently and bought clarins everlasting, it is nice, but after a week i was back to lily lolo.

fragola · 15/09/2012 11:13

I wasn't keen on Lily Lolo, it didn't have the coverage or staying power for me. I prefer Barefaced Beauty.

archfiend · 15/09/2012 11:53

ishall thanks, I will order a few and give it a go!

Whenisitmysleepytime · 15/09/2012 12:10

I've ordered some samples too. And some brushes as mine have never been the same after dh let ds chew them! Hmm

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 15/09/2012 12:26

I'd rather have a less long-lasting make-up secure in the knowledge it was cruelty-free - IMHO.
