So, skinny jeans are out apparently.

WTF do I wear then? dontsaybootlegs

OP posts:
Chubfuddler · 11/09/2012 18:34

Take no notice. Do you like them? Do they suit you? Wear them then.

bulletwithbutterflywings · 11/09/2012 18:36

I don't want to look like a loser though :( I'm young, I should be fashionable!

OP posts:
ujjayi · 11/09/2012 18:38

Think style over fashion (daaahling) and you can still wear your skinnies as long as they suit you. Let's face it, the streets were awash with women wearing bootcuts when they allegedly weren't in fashion any more.

DoUntoOlympians · 11/09/2012 18:38

Nobody told the high street shops, then. Confused Or perhaps they have got to be coloured/patterned rather than ordinary denim?

tanfastic · 11/09/2012 18:39

What is "in" then? Confused

PurpleAndPoppyWearer · 11/09/2012 18:39

I'm glad you started this thread, I was wondering the same thing! Confused

PurpleAndPoppyWearer · 11/09/2012 18:40

I have coloured skinnies! So they're ok?

FuzzyGOLDwood · 11/09/2012 18:40
tanfastic · 11/09/2012 18:44

It's like the ballet flats with skinnies thread, I've not read it all but can't see any enlightenment about what to wear instead that's "in".

namechangexx · 11/09/2012 18:47

Straight legged boyfriend jeans are trendy. Coloured skinnies are merely fashionable. Flared jeans work only if you live in east London.

iknowwho · 11/09/2012 18:53

What a load of horse shit!
Wear what suits!!!

bulletwithbutterflywings · 11/09/2012 18:57

They do suit me, I think Confused But so do knee high boots with skinnies tucked in and apparently that is a crime these days Shock
I genuinely do want to know what is fashionable and what to wear, I finally have some confidence in my appearance and the means to buy some clothes and I want to make the most of while I'm still young and slim!

PretzelTime · 11/09/2012 19:07

Skinny jeans have been trendy for quite some time now, everyone is wearing them so the truly fashionable have to get something else to wear. Wideleg trousers.

The shops are still full of skinny jeans and they have became a staple so they won't suddenly disappear from fashion overnight. Don't worry!

nellyjelly · 11/09/2012 19:11

Wideleg trousers a la Katerine Hepburn are in apparently. Not sure about jeans. Skinnies are still everywhere and if you like them, wear them!

PurpleAndPoppyWearer · 11/09/2012 19:22

I look truly hideous in wide legs. And I did them when they were in years ago, when I was much younger although still short.

I will be persisting with the skinnies, as I have been too pregnant/big to wear them since they came into fashion, until very recently!

NineCrimes · 11/09/2012 19:26

I wear skinnies and knee high boots all the time! Normally with a tucked in vest top and short leather biker jacket!

Though I am pleased to add that yesterday I spotted an outfit on a mannequin at new look that I have been wearing for months. They copied me! Grin

EverlongYouAreGoldAndOrange · 11/09/2012 19:30

I'm covered.

I wear skinny, skinny combats, tapered and boyfriend.

bulletwithbutterflywings · 11/09/2012 19:31

I'd really like knee high boots to be back in, I have 3 pairs dp has bought for me perv Grin

OP posts:
Frontpaw · 11/09/2012 19:34

Thank god! So I can finally get a pair of slim fit waisted jeans with the waistband above my a**e crack?

Fashionistas, West London thanks you.

SPsFanjoSponsoredByOrange · 11/09/2012 19:34

I'm 21. Have been wearing skinny jeans since 14 onwards I'd say.

I see my self wearing them when I'm 81.

I don't care about fashion. Have you seen what people wear and call fashion?!

Bunbaker · 11/09/2012 19:35

"I don't want to look like a loser though sad I'm young, I should be fashionable!"

IMO sad losers are people who think that they must wear up to the minute fashions all the time. It doesn't really matter.

"But so do knee high boots with skinnies tucked in and apparently that is a crime these days"

Bollocks. Are you still at school?

MrsCampbellBlack · 11/09/2012 19:37

Who says skinnies are out? All the premium denim lines are still doing masses albeit in colours/patterns.

And the great advantage of skinnies is they can be tucked into boots which is good when its raining. Remembers that horrid wet creeping up your leg from long bootcuts . . .

But I do wear slim bootcuts still but never wide legs as am only 5 ft and they don't suit me.

I think skinnies will be around for a good time yet.

PurpleAndPoppyWearer · 11/09/2012 19:38

I'll be doing the knee-high boots too, OP!

OuEstCoco · 11/09/2012 19:46

That's not very nice, Bunbaker You may not be interested in fashion yourself but this is the Style and Beauty forum, so obviously there are going to be many people posting here who do. Fair enough if you don't think it's vitally important to be wearing the very latest trends (neither do I, for what it's worth) but calling someone a sad loser and asking if they're still at school is just rude and bitchy and totally unnecessary IMO.

PretzelTime · 11/09/2012 19:47

Skinnies + boots won't be gone anytime soon!
It's a practical and classic look.
