What does your 4yo girl wear under her school uniform?

Mine currently wears nothing, but should she be wearing a vest, or some sort of crop top for when she gets changed for PE? When it gets colder a vest won't be a problem, but it's still a bit warm at the moment IMO but not in my mothers

She wears knickers, obviously.

Crop top? No.

Dd is nearly 9 and they all get changed in the classroom. She has only just asked me to buy vests.

Apparently "one girl wears a crop top but she doesn't have anything to put in it!"

FrustratedSycamorePants · 10/09/2012 21:14

She is 4. Why would she need a vest until winter? Dd1 is 7 and only wears a vest in winter. I wouldn't put her in a crop top as I personally feel she is not old enough. I see them as a pre-teen clothing item

SchnitzelVonKrumm · 10/09/2012 21:16

Mine are 8 and 6 and it would have to be 80 degrees before they went out without a vest on Smile

AnnieLobeseder · 10/09/2012 21:17

Why on earth would a 4yo need anything under a shirt unless it's cold?

What a worrying thread.

RillaBlythe · 10/09/2012 21:21

Chastity belt. HTH.

vodkaanddietirnbru · 10/09/2012 21:23

dd and ds (age 8 and 5) dont even own vests!

Cheddars · 10/09/2012 21:25

A vest so the cold shirt in the morning isn't a shock for her the poor lamb

OddGoldBoots · 10/09/2012 21:27

At that age my dd wore a vest all year round but she was a skinny little thing with very sensitive skin so got cold and sore very easily. If she's warm enough and her outer layer doesn't rub or irritate her skin then she doesn't need anything.

mumofjust1 · 10/09/2012 21:32

My dd always wore a vest! Unless it was summer and boiling hot Grin

I don't know why - I think just because my little brother and I always wore vests as kids. My dad even used to wear a vest!

I think our family is slightly vest obsessed Grin

mumofjust1 · 10/09/2012 21:33

Annie - why is it worrying? Confused

Themumsnot · 10/09/2012 21:40

My mum was obsessed with vests. We had cotton ones for summer and wool ones for winter. Itchy horrible things. Not sure they are necessary in these days of central heating. Schools get very hot in winter and children are more likely to be taking layers off than needing extra ones.

charade · 10/09/2012 21:45

Vest unless boiling. If it is cold enough for a crop top then its cold enough for a vest. Crop tops are wierdy bra substitutes rather than vest substitutes imo. If its cold and I'm wearing a vest I don't take my bra off.

EdithWeston · 10/09/2012 21:45

Full liberty bodice?

SchnitzelVonKrumm · 10/09/2012 21:57

Funnily enough our school has said they're turning the heating down (for environmental and cost reasons) and that kids should wear vests if it's cold.

HolyParalympicGoldBatman · 10/09/2012 22:03

Nothing for modesty reasons.

Vest if it's cold.

Mine only wear them when it's really chilly because their school is very warm and at the moment it's really warm here, they've gone back in short sleeves/shorts and summer dresses.

MmeLindor · 10/09/2012 22:07

No, she doesn't need to wear a vest unless it is cold.

Why would it worry you about her getting changed? My DD is 10yo and still doesn't wear a vest for modesty reasons.

GoodHeavensNo · 10/09/2012 22:20

Nothing. She has a couple of vests for when it's freezing.

She is totally unselfconscious about getting undressed in front of other people, and I suspect she would happily go to school naked if she was allowed to.

AndiMac · 10/09/2012 22:21

Mine wore a pair of panties and that was it. She had a school cardigan to put on if it was chilly, she doesn't even have any vests.

PepeLePew · 10/09/2012 22:35

Vests when it is cold enough to need a coat. Otherwise nothing.

MirandaWest · 10/09/2012 22:36

Mine is 6 and hasn't worn a vest since she stopped wearing nappies at 2. She always seems warm enough :)

SoupDragon · 10/09/2012 22:41

Do you really think your four year old needs to cover her nipples when she gets changed for PE? Confused

Really???

EasterEggHuntIsOver · 10/09/2012 22:49

It's worrying because people are sharing with complete strangers what underwear their 4-year-olds are wearing/not wearing. Who knows who is reading this thread?

A very similar thread appeared on here last year iirc

MmeLindor · 10/09/2012 22:54

Erm, EasterEgg - I don't think that anyone is going to find dozens of posts saying that their DD wears a vest particularly interesting.

FrustratedSycamorePants · 10/09/2012 22:57

Why does it matter what 4yos are wearing easter? It's a simple question of vest or no vest, and a discussion on what age parents think dd should be covered for modesty reasons. surprisingly it varies.
I don't see why an issue is being made out of a non-issue. Let's all shout troll when someone asks a question shall we.

EasterEggHuntIsOver · 10/09/2012 23:04

I don't have an issue with this thread.....

The question is who lurks on these threads ie. peadophiles

ie. usernames such as mothers2daughters have been banned, I believe.
