Ok, so I thought it should always be brown boots with jeans however all I can see in magazines/websites is black boots with jeans Confused

So have things changed for this winter or is it me and black boots have always been 'acceptable'?!?!

oh ffs

who cares as long as are not mum boots.

i HATE brown anything

MrsCampbellBlack · 30/08/2012 17:49

I have always worn black boots with jeans.

Its fine -most people do.

People have got so het up over the concept of 'mum boots' that they've lost the plot boot-wise.

Marenostrum · 30/08/2012 17:49

Always acceptable with dark denim in my book, but who knows what might be trendy now...

noddyholder · 30/08/2012 17:50

I've always liked them WHat else is there apart from brown All the grey boot'ers will be regretting come jan

bagpuss · 30/08/2012 17:53

I'm going back to black boots this year and I dont care what anyone thinks. They look smarter and don't get water lines in the rain like my brown ones.

justasecond · 30/08/2012 17:53

I agree there seem to be mumboot hysteria on S&B at the mo.

iamnotinterestedinyourkids · 30/08/2012 17:54

takes credit for the very term

Tortington · 30/08/2012 17:55

seriously no one gives a shit what colour boots goes with jeans - except on mumsnet

bagpuss · 30/08/2012 17:55

I must admit that I'm getting strangely addicted to the s&b threads for the boot discussions alone! Grin

MrsCampbellBlack · 30/08/2012 17:57

Mellower · 30/08/2012 17:57

Oh grey ones, may get grey ones this year. After car tax, BT bills etc.....hen do costs grr! I'm gonna be stuck with my brown ones.

noddyholder · 30/08/2012 17:57

I think grey is a fad they all look plastic

dexter73 · 30/08/2012 17:57

I don't get the boot hysteria either. If I like the boots and they fit me I buy them - no navel gazing about mum boots or black boots with blue jeans for me!

iamnotinterestedinyourkids · 30/08/2012 17:58

I have often wondered about the MN 'no black boots with blue jeans' thing. I never got why they were unacceptable in the first place. Why would wearing black boots with blue jeans be a no-no but wearing a black top be OK? Confused

GobblersKnob · 30/08/2012 18:03

Everyones doing it, all is cool Smile

dexter73 · 30/08/2012 18:03

You will have some Bertha as every boot ever linked to in the history of mumsnet gets called a mum boot by someone or the other.

Mellower · 30/08/2012 18:04

I haven't looked at any this year. I may have to stick with my brown ones Grin

I had a lovely Timberland long pair a few six years ago, I miss them so much! I am not interested in shoes just boots?

toastandmarmiterocks · 30/08/2012 18:08

I have black boots, brown boots, grey boots, leather boots, suede boots, ankle boots, knee boots, mum boots (probably) Blush Just covering all options...

Caerlaverock · 30/08/2012 18:09

I had a pair of grey granny boots in the 80's I fecking loved them. Not feeling the love this time round. Agree the mum boot fear is hysterical but no one wants to look like colleen Nolan's less stylish sister
