Limited edition handbag - should I buy it?!

Hello all on a very rainy Thursday afternoon.

With the help of some birthday money I am going to treat myself to a new handbag, something that I don?t do all that often. I was looking on the Internet for something a bit different when I stumbled across this: www.miloandsaint.com/Handbags/limited-bespoke-designer-handbag

Has anybody ever had any experience of Milo and Saint? The description sounds lovely and I like the fact that it is a limited edition handbag with only 100 made and it is designed in Britain. The bird lining also looks charming.

Any feedback or opinions are eagerly welcomed!

Hannah

Thats a lovely bag. Its Wednesday by the way.

bunionscomingsoon · 29/08/2012 18:11

Quite expensive for an unknown brand and not a lot of choice so I would beware - - Anyone bought from them ???

HannahOfSurrey · 29/08/2012 18:42

Thank you for the replies so far.

Dreaming of handbags and I clearly forgot which day of the week it is!

There is ony 1 bag in The 100 Collection so yes this is limited, however there are other styles in the signature range.

Decisions, decisions!

Hmm well the only contact number is a mobile number.

And while the website raves about the bags being designed in England and the linings printed in England, it doesn't say where the bags are actually made. So could be a sweatshop in the Far East for all we know.

It's a nice bag but I am not especially convinced over all, TBH.

HannahOfSurrey · 29/08/2012 19:03

Hmmm you raised some good points. I have sent them an enquiry on the contact us page to see if I can confirm where they are made. Perhaps I should call the mobile number in the morning!

Thank you again.

I couldn't see the price and have never heard of the brand. Judging by their boutique collection, they're not exactly cheap - I'd spend the money on a (second hand) Mulberry any day of the week :)

MoaningMingeWhingesAgain · 29/08/2012 19:29

£370. There's still a full 100 left out of the limited edition of 100 according to the websiteso no need to rush.

Maybe their marketing team will be able to raise the profile, you know, somehow. Goodness only knows how they would do that Wink

lairymum99 · 29/08/2012 19:44

how about this one instead?

lairymum99 · 29/08/2012 19:47

or this one

With a budget of £370, you have serious options, girl Shock

HannahOfSurrey · 29/08/2012 19:52

Wow that is pink thanks for the link! Sadly I don't think I could quite pull that off.

I like the Milo because it is shaped more like the satchel I remember from my school days.

Fair enough - how about

this
this one
or this one??

QueenCadbury · 29/08/2012 20:11

I agree with some of the other posters that they are expensive and very unknown. Have you googled further to see if there is anything else on the Internet about them? The bags are nice but I'd be very wary. If they were that great surely they would have been featured in magazines by now?

HannahOfSurrey · 29/08/2012 20:24

Thank you for all the suggestions, I have lots of lovely thinking to do this evening.

I had a look on Google and I found this article which suggests they are quite new. It does mention that they are made in Europe which is a good start. I wonder where in Europe?!

I telephoned Milo and Saint this afternoon and thankfully somebody did answer! I spoke to a helpfully lady who confirmed that they are made in Portugal. She explained they originally made them England but it was too expensive. I think I?m fine with that.

She also said I could return the bag and receive refund if I wasn?t completely satisfied so with that I have taken the plunge and put in my order.

I?ll let you know my thoughts when it arrives!

is it just me, or is this whole thread just a spammer from Milo & Saint?

I must admit as a new joiner on MN there does seem to be some conspiracy theories out there among some members... People are entitled to their opinion but I can?t help but feel that I cannot comment on anything without suggestions that I am affiliated in some way with the company!

Perhaps I shall mute my next posting on Virgin airlines for fear of being branded as Richard Branson's best friend...
