Are knee length boots a no-no this A/W?

Title says it all really! I'm on the lookout for ankle boots to wear with straight jeans but I don't think my really skinny calves will suit ankle boots with skinnies. On the other hand, knee length boots with skinnies or with wool tights and above-the-knee dress or tunic looks good on me. I think Hmm. So what's the verdict on longer boots please? Smile

me too Millie.

Have just started a thread with 2 links to boots.

I'd wear jeans etc over the boots I've linked to- i think .

Millie1 · 28/08/2012 22:33

Oh I must look for your thread MissBoPeep. Truth is, I'd like a new pair of long boots too Grin

Knee length boots are a no-no for me any time...I can't find any to fit my chunky calves Sad

FauxFox · 28/08/2012 22:37

I have bought over the knee boots...not sure if it's a no-no or not but they are gorgeous so i don't care Grin

Millie1 · 29/08/2012 08:14

Good for you FauxFox - enjoy!!!

Quite right FauxFox - wear what you like, never mind what's 'in fashion'! We don't all look the same or like the same styles so go for it

fedupofnamechanging · 29/08/2012 09:16

I think that if knee high boots suit you, then that's what you should wear. People who slavishly follow a fashion, irrespective of whether it actually suits them, just end up looking silly, which defeats the whole point.

Knee high boots are so useful and versatile that I think people will always wear them.

GobblersKnob · 29/08/2012 09:21

I am not a fan of the mum ankle boots that have suddenly become fashionable and woudn't be seen dead in themGrin

I have boots in varying lengths, mostly this winter I will be wearing skinnies or leggings with my new 14 hole Dr Martens.

Wear what suits you and what you feel good in Smile

trixymalixy · 29/08/2012 09:24

I've bought ankle boots for this winter, but I still love my long boots and will be wearing those of I feel like it.

OneOfMyTurnsComingOn · 29/08/2012 09:24

I love my knee boots. Can you imagine if all women wore ankle boots only. That would be weird.

NoComet · 29/08/2012 10:07

Long boots cost £100+ a pair they will therefore be worn until they wear out and fashion can go hang.

Millie1 · 29/08/2012 11:29

Oh good! I'd be wearing my old boots anyway but now will purchase a new pair. Duo are best for my skinny calves. Anyone fancy choosing for me [http://www.duoboots.com/ladies-boots/ here]]. I have dark brown Brindisis and a black pair of flats but I bought them too tight on the calf so they're not too comfortable. Thinking tan?

trying again

I've been dithering about this too. I think that the superfash will probably not be wearing long boots, but I love them personally, and as both my brown & black flat long boots died this Spring, I will be replacing at least one of them - can't be doing without flat long boots.

I suspect it's a bit D of C to wear knee-highs with skinnies, but seeing as most of the world thinks she's a fashion icon anyway, that's probably okay!

MissBoPeep · 29/08/2012 12:49

Hi Millie

I have several pairs of Duo boots - couple of riding style and one kitten heeled pair for dressy.

I've just ordered Gable but think they are quite £££ for short boots. Will decide when they come.

My fave ones for long boots- assuming you want flat- are:

Flore

Manet

Marcelle

Beaumont.

MrsRobertDuvallHasRosacea · 29/08/2012 12:51

I love my Duo Florence riding boots.
This is the 4th winter I've had them and they still look great.....worth every penny.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 29/08/2012 12:57

I have both ankle and knee boots and will wear both - I like to wear the brown knee ones with casual skirts and the ankle boots with jeans or with my drapey Westwood skirts for work.

HoopDePoop · 29/08/2012 13:27

I spent the whole of last A/W trying to find the perfect flat knee highs, having realised my calf high bikers were passé - I never got them and now am hunting for the perfect ankle boot Sad

I think ankle boots are the way forward with skinnies, but I think knee highs will be still current with dresses.

BupcakesandCunting · 29/08/2012 13:32

See, I really like the ankle boots that are about now. I've seen a lovely pair with a gold studded heel. Can you wear them if you have, erm, slightly sturdy calves or are they for the lithe of leg only? I don't want to turn them into cankle boots :(

Huffpot · 29/08/2012 13:40

Will be watching with interest re sturdy of calves
response...

FruitSaladIsNotPudding · 29/08/2012 13:47

I don't think you can wear ankle boots with chunky calves. Well, I can't anyway, they look awful.

I love my knee highs, but I think tucking jeans into them is looking dated now.

Millie1 · 29/08/2012 13:51

I don't think I can wear ankle boots with skinnies because my calves are just so thin, I think that's why I keep going back to my good old knee highs. Maybe I'm on the wrong track, I don't know.

All of the Duos are lovely, MissBoPeep. I'm going to order a jacket today so the boots will have to wait another month or so - still, more time for planning!

Ankle boots make me look stumpy. May have to stick to knee length unless I can find calf length that make my legs look like super model proportions.

noddyholder · 29/08/2012 13:57

I wear both like my knee boots with dresses

vesela · 29/08/2012 14:00

I wear my higher boots with dresses, but I don't like wearing them with jeans. I'm looking for ankle boots, but have the same problem as Millie - they all look too wide. And/or they have heels, and I'm looking for a pair for running about in. All I can see in that category are the Blowfish-type ones, and I don't want those. I want something more biker-y, but they're all wide.
