How do you wear your bras?

BedHeadTigi · 25/08/2012 18:44

Do you like to wear them super tight so you know they are there and leave bra marks when you take them off, or have them at a looser more comfortable setting? Im asking this because i have realised all of my old bras are pretty super tight on me, but my new ones are so comfortable and no way as tight but i wonder if they will still support my bust the same?

Hooray!

Looks like another couple of converts to the club.

Excellent news Perrycombover, what bras did you end up with?

PippiL · 13/09/2012 22:54

Is there a scooping link...without having to search 650 posts?

StatisticallyChallenged · 13/09/2012 23:04

Scooping - you know the bits of erm, flesh/wobble that many people have under their armpits/over their backstrap/generally escaping? Well, that is primarily breast tissue and it belongs in the bra. So, put bra on. Lean right forward, take right hand, but round under left armpit towards your back, and scoop all the soft tissue forward so it is inside the wire of your bra.

Repeat on other side.

Stand up

back fat massively reduced, but cup size probably increased!

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 13/09/2012 23:21

But then as soon as you raise your arm it pops back out again. I tried this, loved my lack of fat, moved my arms and it all came shuddering back.

StatisticallyChallenged · 13/09/2012 23:27

I find a little moves back, but not much. However there are two things on my that make a huge difference:

1: how high the underwire is under my arm - some are much shorter than others and are a bit of a dismal fail for scoopage
2: the fit - especially if the back is too loose then it all just sliiiides back again! Obviously there also needs to be adequate space in the cup to contain it, but I find even if my bra is getting a little older so has loosened off it can have this issue.

Fozzleyplum · 13/09/2012 23:40

I've found that the old "formulaic"ways of calculating bra size are not reliable. I go to independent shops, who usually have a great service and can advise on the fit of the brands they stock. FWIW my favourite shop is Fishnets in Whitby. The owner also does a mail order service and fitting over Skype.

goodtimesarecoming · 14/09/2012 09:32

Right, so i'm now in a 32f! It's tight, but have to admit it looks good and I guess it will ease up a bit.
Now what do I do with approximatly 60 36dd bras??

SorrelForbes · 14/09/2012 10:53

Maybe we need a bra swap thread? I have some 30Gs which fit but give me
pointy boobs so keep being put back in the drawer!

I think Oxfam are still collecting bras for Africa?

HauntedLittleLunatic · 14/09/2012 21:12

Another bra queen bra might of dropped into my trolley this evening.

Who is going to pay for this habit you have got me addicted to?

musttidyupmusttidyup · 15/09/2012 09:12

This morning I am taking my mum out to get her a new bra - one that fits! I plucked up the courage to tell her hers was crap [proud]. She's wearing a 38 C and is the perfect example of a very badly fitting bra. I'm guessing 34E/F is needed. She's a right one for not wanting a tight band and doesn't like underwires so may take some serious convincing.... Wish me luck Smile

StatisticallyChallenged · 15/09/2012 09:18

You have my sympathies musttidy - I did the same with my mother a couple of years ago and just about throttled her. Full blown amateur dramatics when we tried on a tight bra "I can't breathe get it off get it off"

I did win - eventually! I think we ended up with a 34f where I reckon a 32FF would have been better but it was a vast improvement on the 38b!

SorrelForbes · 15/09/2012 11:27

Good luck Musttidy. I'm off in to town with my DH's cousin to get her sorted out. She's wearing a 38B and probably needs a 34DD/E! I have to try and be strict with myself though and not buy another new bra!

hawthers · 15/09/2012 12:33

Can't wait to give this a go but have only just stopped bfing. How long do u need to wait for my boobs to settle down to their depressing normal state?

At the moment I'd be a 30 dd (30 and 35?) But I just don't quite get this as who'd ever be an a?

HazleNutt · 15/09/2012 12:35

good luck - I'm still struggling with my friend who is "38F, because she just has a wide ribcage!". No she does not, I am pretty sure she needs a 34. And another friend, size 10-12 claiming she has always been 38B. Honesty M&S bra fitting..I mean bra measuring and stuffing people in obviously wrong sizes is the cause of so, so many aching backs and quadraboobs.

SorrelForbes · 15/09/2012 13:02

Hurray! Cousin is a 34E. She has just thrown her old bra in the bin in the changing room in Debenhams and is now paying for her new bra which she is wearing (and very perky she looks too, not to mention a stone lighter!).

SorrelForbes · 15/09/2012 13:03

Hmmm not sure Hawthers to be honest having never BF.

As for the A cup mystery, who knows Grin

HauntedLittleLunatic · 15/09/2012 13:06

And A cup isn't impossible tho is it (but realistically would only be relevant to pre/early pubescent girls). An AA and A AAA would be impossible as that would mean the overbust is smaller than the underbust?

SorrelForbes · 15/09/2012 13:25

An AA would be for someone with the same over and under bust measurements. Not sure about an AAA!

OrangeandGoldMrsDeVere · 15/09/2012 13:27

I have a code for brastop

12% off till 23 sept.

musttidyupmusttidyup · 15/09/2012 18:45

Mother sorted! Made a nuisance of myself in the first department store but it just got my back up when the fitter was doing her up on the tightest hook because 'it was a bit big but the next size down would be too tight Confused. She (fitter) was also satisfied with a bra where the centre was wrestling her cleavage and def not sitting flat. We left. Went to my (always fab) fenwicks where a super dooper girl had her in the correct size and shape first go. 36E so I wasn't far off Smile. I would've been rumbled if any mnetters in there as I'm saying scoop woman for gods sake right from the back. Mum now has a waist. Yay.

SorrelForbes · 15/09/2012 21:02

Good job musttiday, sounds like your intervention saved the day! I was also shouting "scoop woman, fgs scoop" across the changing rooms today.

MotherOfNations · 15/09/2012 21:53

I think my breast tissue has migrated to my stomach and thighs.;-)

Hear hear

I love my new bras...I might have to buy another one while the brand that suits is half price in Tesco...

MrsPnut · 17/09/2012 07:48

Hurrah for all these magnificent bosoms. :o
