Just browsing on asos and saw this blouse and was reminded of it.

God I loved that dressing gown - reminds me of getting ready to go out in my youth . . . So who else had it?

Me.

Ooh this brings back memories of being 19 & living in shared student house. I had the lipstick dressing gown and a dreadful girl who I shared with used to have her boyfriend to stay every single weekend. She was very odd & possessive, old way before her time & seemed convinced everyone would pounce on her beloved if he so much as saw another female. One day I was doing the washing up in kitchen wearing said dressing gown, she came in with boyfriend to cook a roast or something, saw me there, muttered 'tart' under her breath and left.. she was very odd. I left said dressing gown in my room over the long holidays, came back at start of next term, dressing gown had mysteriously gone for a walk and was never seen again. She'd stayed in the house and we assumed she'd taken such a dislike to it that she'd 'removed' it. So I went straight down to Miss S, bought another one, wore it in the kitchen and the look/double take she gave me when she saw it... I just knew it was her who had taken it. Put a lock on my door after that. Happy (and odd) memories..

Wow 101 - what a fruitloop your flatmate was.

Oh it was such a nice dressing-gown - really wish I'd kept it Smile

I didn't have one, but I love the clothing nostalgia thread!

BiscuitNibbler · 31/07/2012 15:29

Me - and the nightie that went with it, plain white with one kiss on a pocket.

MrsCampbellBlack · 31/07/2012 15:33

Oh now I've got nightie envy.

Those were the days - getting ready for nights out - glass of peach concorde in hand . . .

I wanted one but it was too indulgent for me in those skint studenty days. I had the triangular make up set with 3 levels in it though. I still have the massive face powder brush and still use it! God I loved miss selfridge.

ujjayi · 31/07/2012 17:00

Other favourites from Miss S included Iron Lady lipstick and Black Pool eyeshadow.

kaumana · 31/07/2012 17:07

Me! I thought I was sooo grown up.

MrsCampbellBlack · 31/07/2012 17:09

I too used to love Miss Selfridge. Remember being so jealous of rich friend whose dad took her there and just let her get piles of new stuff - well it seemed like piles of stuff at the time Wink

They should re-issue that dressing gown - I'd buy it again [mutton]

I loved that dressing gown. my older sister had it and I was very jealous. I saw someone wearing Twilight Teaser in very trendy Dalston recently. I used to wear it to the school disco and not look remotely trendy.

kaumana · 31/07/2012 17:19

I have a pic of me wearing it! My friends and I were getting ready for a night out and were swanning around doing our make up and hair while in our goonies. My mum thought it was hilarious !

YourCallIsImportant · 31/07/2012 17:20

Oh yes, I had one (mid 80s) .It was short and very thin material. Not the best gown for living in Glasgow.

The blonde haired nurse in Brookside had a towelling one Envy

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 31/07/2012 17:50

And they had cleanser called Kiss and Make-Up or something.

KandyBarr · 31/07/2012 17:58

I had it and loved it so much. I got it for Christmas when I was 13, after seeing a cool character wearing it in one of those Play for Today things. It was hanging in threads when I binned it seven years later.

I still google it now and then.

Zwitterion · 31/07/2012 18:08

My big sister had one. I was very very jealous. And she had a perm and a boyfriend called Julian. Envy

watfordmummy · 31/07/2012 18:11

i also had bright pink skin tight jeans from Bennetton which I thought were oooh soo cool!!

caution · 31/07/2012 18:22

Oh will someone link it, I want to see this thing of elegance and beauty! I've never heard of it until now (probs too young!).
