Tell me why I need a pair of Converse

Never had them before but do wear Boden plimsolls.

But I've been looking at Office's website and I'm tempted! So sell them to me - what colour should I go for and what can I wear them with?

Prefer low styles.

I find Converse stupendously uncomfortable (soles too thin/flat, no arch support).

HTH

Bunbaker · 20/07/2012 00:27

You don't need them. Expensive plimsolls with no support IMO.

BBMs · 20/07/2012 00:30

They are horrible!! Take it from me that I wasted my money buying 3 pairs... I know! Very stupid me... But I liked they way they looked and thought that if "I broke them in" were going to be comfy :S

TheDetective · 20/07/2012 00:43

You don't. They used to be cool.

Now they are not.

And they were never that comfy.

helloitsme · 20/07/2012 00:48

I just bought a pair today. Think they are quite comfy and nice.....

cocolepew · 20/07/2012 00:56

Because they are nice and bright and cheery . I have loads but I do have to wear Birkinstock insoles wuth them because they are flat, but all plimsolls are.

Who cares whether shoes are cool? If you like something wear it.

ineedsomepeaceandquiet · 20/07/2012 01:53

Try superga. I find them more comfy than converse and trendy Smile

QueenCadbury · 20/07/2012 06:12

Get them. They're classic. Any colour that takes your fancy although a more neutral colour obviously goes with more. I wear mine with jeans/trousers. Have seen people wear with skirts but for some reason that looks odd on me.

DonaAna · 20/07/2012 07:44

Converse don't look good - they seem to shorten people unless you are a model. They also look grubby very easily. Gave them a miss and haven't regretted that.

jumpingjackhash · 20/07/2012 07:48

I agree with DonaAna, plus I think they make my feet look really big and clown-y (my feet aren't big and clown-y). There are much more flattering (and comfortable) shoes out there!

CapuccinoCannoliLover · 20/07/2012 07:51

I'm with ineedsomepeaceandquiet, Superga for me too!

Bonsoir · 20/07/2012 07:55

I always have a pair of Superga (or three) for the summer holidays, but this year DD wanted a pair of Converse low-tops with no laces, and they look so fab that DP and I have bought some for ourselves as well.

StellaAndFries · 20/07/2012 08:05

I love my converse and wear them with everything, I have a pair of red low tops, black double tongue low tops and white hi tops. I find them really comfy and just sling them in the washing machine when they look grubby.

Bunbaker · 20/07/2012 08:07

Don't Converse and other similar canvas style shoes make your feet wet in this weather?

Bonsoir · 20/07/2012 08:10

I wear mine on holiday (Sicily, Greece, Corsica etc)

GnocchiNineDoors · 20/07/2012 08:12

I havr navy blue, but have the smaller (daintier?) style, rather than the unisex.style.

Love them.

LST · 20/07/2012 08:16

I love them but I haven't owned a pair for about 5 years (when I was about 17). I went to buy some at the weekend to find that the pumps I used to pay £20 for had gone up to £45-50!!

So I didn't bother! They are not worth that kind of money!

perplexedpirate · 20/07/2012 08:21

They are super comfy, last for ages, you can chuck them in the washer when they get grubby and they are loads of different styles to suit your mood.
I've currently got a black pair with studs and a sparkly silver pair (which I also wore for my wedding Grin).

Callisto · 20/07/2012 08:40

I love my Converse too. I've had Converse since I was a teenager and I've had loads of different colours. I currently have a battered black pair (great for gardening and dog-walking) and a newer turquoise pair. I've always had hi tops, would like some low tops as they are a bit more versatile (can wear with shorts/crop troos/skirts).

pictish · 20/07/2012 08:42

They are comfortable.
They go with pretty much anything.
They last for ages so are value for money.

Go for it.

nobodysfool · 20/07/2012 09:47

I love mine. I have dark blue , floral and red and whit polka dots double tongue.Grin

Idlegirl83 · 20/07/2012 10:01

Used to wear converse but admit they were a bit clumpy, heavy and not particularly comfortable. DH got me a similar pair from cath kidston last year and they are fab! Not clumpy, really comfy - and half the price! Grin

HiggsBoson · 20/07/2012 10:14

Hmmm. I have a pair of khaki hi-top Converse, but I've no idea how to wear them with skinny jeans. Any tips?

HipHopOpotomus · 20/07/2012 10:15

I brought some Lee Cooper Converse style sneakers in black. They are great. They were £8 Grin

HipHopOpotomus · 20/07/2012 10:17

Higgs put your skinny jeans on.

Put your Converse on one at a time (I prefer left first, but whatever).

Tie the laces.
Viola!!! (cheeky Grin)
