Tell me why I need a pair of Converse

Never had them before but do wear Boden plimsolls.

But I've been looking at Office's website and I'm tempted! So sell them to me - what colour should I go for and what can I wear them with?

Prefer low styles.

I think they are so uncomfortable - really flat. I have high arches and insteps though.

They wash brilliantly though - just throw them in the machine if they get a little grubby, replace the laces and they look as good as new.

TeaTeaLotsOfTea · 20/07/2012 10:18

I love mine I wear them with skinny jeans and a kurt cobain t-shirt (clearly I was a teenager in the 90's)

If you like them get them. I think mine are really comfy too.

reluctanttownie · 20/07/2012 10:24

I love them, never been without a pair for the last decade or so. Usually white but this year got a grey pair which I love. Also tempted by the navy. You can get leather as well as fabric which are better in rain. Yes if you have a really long day on your feet they're not the most cushioning for your soles but they're excellent for general use. I have high arches and find both birkenstocks and totally flat converse/ballet flats equally comfy.

I wear them with jeans, skirts, dresses, anything I want.

DontmindifIdo · 20/07/2012 10:30

I find them very comfy. I have them in grey, but brighter colours also work, just with less things.

cocolepew · 20/07/2012 12:25

I've had a pair of totally brown leather hi tops for about 5 years, they're my winter boots. They are the most comfortable thing ever.

HepHep · 20/07/2012 13:27

Because they are AWESOME. And come in some amazing colours. And in my opinion, if you're a slouch like me, nothing looks better with jeans and tees.

blibblibs · 20/07/2012 14:12

I would agree with posters up thread - just bought my first superga and they are fantastic

ScarletLadyOfTheNight01 · 20/07/2012 14:12

I agree with Hephep I love them...they are so classic in my opinion. I have some low tops and some xx-hi ones (just below the knee, black and covered in buckles) which I live in and could walk for miles in them.

dexter73 · 20/07/2012 14:16

Can I just ask a quick question? Why do our feet need their arches supporting? Surely our feet are designed to support us without the help of shoes? I have never understood why shoes have to have arch supports - you never look at a person walking barefoot and think 'Ooh they have no support on their arches, they really ought to put a pair of shoes on.'

cocolepew · 20/07/2012 14:19

I need my arches supported because they fall otherwise and its sore. I had planter fascillis, or whatever its called, thats why I like Birkie insoles. It was bloody agony.

milkmoustache · 20/07/2012 14:20

Sam Cam wears them. Take that how you will.

dexter73 · 20/07/2012 14:22

Foot problems aside why do our arches need supporting?

cocolepew · 20/07/2012 14:24

Maybe they don't, mine are just pathetic.
Al those people wearng ballet flats obviously dont feel they do.
I even wear insoles in trainers. Im a martyr to my feet . I blame my mum.

Glamrock39 · 20/07/2012 14:31

I have really high arches so always wear insoles with any shoes!
Converse are really funky looking but totally overpriced like most clothes/shoes that have a 'label'. If you're not looking for a flashy pair like these
HarleyQuinn Converse (which I WAAANT!)
Then just gor for a converse style pair that you can pick up in Primarni or priceless shoes or places like that. they're a tenth of the price and some in most plain block colours Grin

JustinBoobie · 20/07/2012 14:39

Superga look a bit orthopedic to me. They were half price online but I couldnt bring myself to click! Grin

cocolepew · 20/07/2012 14:55

I want the leopard print, zip hitops, someone linked to them the other week and Im lusting.

Thecunningstunt · 20/07/2012 14:56

I love mine. Had a pair for three years now, used to wear them more in my younger days. They never go out of style and are light and comfortable.

ScarletLadyOfTheNight01 · 20/07/2012 18:40

cocolepew I have these...they're SOOO comfy and I love them. Worth every penny in my opinion.

Oops sorry >_

cocolepew · 20/07/2012 19:09

They're lovely , alas my fat calves/calfs(?) would make them impossible for me.

DollysDrawers · 20/07/2012 19:57

Why do you need them? You just do.

I have them in navy and Superga in white. Def prefer my cons I feel a bit daft wearing my Superga just now as every single bleedin' teenager I pass seems to be wearing them and I am most definitely not a teenager now!

Spookey80 · 20/07/2012 21:32

I love them, I have navy high tips, white classic and a pale grey pair that I got from Germany that are slimmer than the usual style, but not as slim as The slim ones you get here, called dainty. I have worn them loads this summer with everything from chinos and turnips. I don't care whether they are in fashion, I love them and they are so comfy. Get them if you like them.

FunnyLittleFrog · 20/07/2012 22:35

Love Converse. They are a bit mumsy these days (as in, you see LOADS of mums wearing them) but not frumpy imo.

I have been wearing them on and off for well over 20 years. Faves are still the black hi-tops I had when I was 13.
