Lordy! What's with the comedy eyebrows on the under 30s?

Okay, I don't get out that much. But went to a 'do' the other night and had a good gawk at the general fake-iness of the under 30s look.

The eyebrows though, they really are something else, I was transfixed. Brown crayoning gorn mad Confused Why do they do it?

The permanent Hmm look Grin

amistillsexy · 10/07/2012 23:11

Aw, I worked with a girl the other day who did this. She had two little triangles crayoned on top of each eyebrow.

I thought it looked cute! Wink

MrsKwazii · 10/07/2012 23:13

Is that the high definition brow craze? The girls who wax my legs all have them. I talk exclusively to their brows - they look so odd. Am just waiting for them to ask me if I'd like them ... Grin

AlmostAHipster · 10/07/2012 23:15

Can we have a link to some examples please, Waving

I'm hoping desperately I don't have comedy eyebrows curious.

FootballFriendSays · 10/07/2012 23:15

I don't know what you mean. Is it area specific?

whackamole · 10/07/2012 23:17

Aww don't Blush I went a bit crazy with the tweezers this evening and now my brows are very thin. I only noticed when there was blood Hmm as they were so deep-rooted as to never have been plucked!

I do draw mine in but not too thick and dark (I hope!).

MrsKwazii · 10/07/2012 23:21

Like this: www.gazettelive.co.uk/lifestyle/fashion-and-beauty/2011/10/11/brilliant-brows-only-seven-steps-away-84229-29571087/

It looks like trained caterpillars are lying on their face Grin

mrscumberbatch · 10/07/2012 23:22

I think they all look a bit 'troll-y' with these eyebrows.

There has to be an 'in-between'!

FootballFriendSays · 10/07/2012 23:26

Thanks for the link. They look a but Elizabeth Taylor.

I was intrigued by step 7: the brow beater. They font expand as to what it means.

AlmostAHipster · 10/07/2012 23:26

Thanks, MrsKwazii.

The gels in my town have always looked like this tbh. Along with Oompa Loompa fake tans and boob tubes in the snow. It's a cultural thing :)

But not me. Oooooh no, sireee. Not one bit. Honest.

mrscumberbatch · 10/07/2012 23:28

It's a bit Elizabeth Taylor, if she were addicted to crack and forgot to do her eyebrows Wink

I really don't get it.

Along with wearing rollers in public. Is that not akin to going out wearing a waxing strip on your top lip?

Don't see that taking off!

WavingLeaves · 10/07/2012 23:30

MrsK - yes, that kind of thing. Some were really curved though, their face was like the entrance to a double railway tunnel or something.

Have to admit that I hadn't read the article. Sounds like a right faff. And don't get me started on 'heaven backwards' ... Grin

cocolepew · 10/07/2012 23:33

I was in a lift the other day and a girl had brilliant eyebrows. They were thick and heavy but natural, and her hair matched the colour.

Im sure she thought I fancied her, I kept throwing furtive looks in her direction.

toysoldiers · 10/07/2012 23:34

I can't abide the modern 'look'. (I'm not 75,honest Wink)

It seems to have nothing to do with what's attractive - but just a way to prove that you have sufficient free time and money to lavish on your appearance - however freaky. As if we have nothing better to do.

The whole spray tan, eyebrow, bikini wax, vajazzle nonsense.

FFS just put some lippy on and read a book! Angry

Arana · 10/07/2012 23:37

Eyebrow style begins and ends with Audrey Hepburn, with a little variation allowed on the angle.

Slainte · 10/07/2012 23:41

To me it looks like the before and after shots should've been the other way round Grin

Ikeatears · 10/07/2012 23:44

'Tis what is commonly known locally as a "Scouse brow"!

midori1999 · 10/07/2012 23:45

Grin @ 'trained caterpillars'....

I admit I probably need to spend a lot more time on personal grooming, but how can anyone think eyebrows like that look good?! Confused

PorkyandBess · 10/07/2012 23:48

Poor, deluded Bekki (sic)

Cremolafoam · 10/07/2012 23:50

They look stencilled.
Facial stencilling can't be a good thing - can it?Hmm

mrscumberbatch · 10/07/2012 23:53

Who knew eyebrow stencils actually existed?

Cremolafoam · 10/07/2012 23:57

Oh FGS! Do they use a chubby jocasta innes brush tooWink

StBoniface · 11/07/2012 07:49

Is that what they call HD brows? I've seen people mention it but didn't realise that is what they meant. Saw some women with them at the weekend, it just looks like they used a black marker pen and a stencil! Not a good look!

WavingLeaves · 11/07/2012 09:47

I'm glad I'm not alone. I suppose I hadn't seen quite so many, up close, in RL before - but yes, you do end up talking to the brows Shock

Poor Bekki indeed "?Having HD brows makes you look groomed all the time and gives your face definition.?

No Bekki love - having HD brows makes you look like you have slugs stuck to your face and gives you a slightly barking appearance.
