Lordy! What's with the comedy eyebrows on the under 30s?

Okay, I don't get out that much. But went to a 'do' the other night and had a good gawk at the general fake-iness of the under 30s look.

The eyebrows though, they really are something else, I was transfixed. Brown crayoning gorn mad Confused Why do they do it?

Toysoldiers no more to be said.

boredandrestless · 11/07/2012 09:53

I'm yet to see any of these in RL but have been amused by their appearance in magazines lately.

They do not look good!

OwlsOnStrings · 11/07/2012 09:54

Sheesh. I love being old. Grin

ForFoxsGlacierMints · 11/07/2012 09:55

HD brows are stencilled.

RoxyRobin · 11/07/2012 09:58

They used to use stick-on eyebrows made of real moleskin in the 18th century.

Do you reckon this is a marketing opportunity?

SparkyTGD · 11/07/2012 09:58

I saw them in RL recently for the first time, "comedy brows" is a very good description Grin

Young people these days [old gimmer]

RoxyRobin · 11/07/2012 09:59

Come to think of it, it was mouse skin.

OTheHugeManatee · 11/07/2012 10:07

Scouse brows

BLOODY HELL

One of my neices is a bit of a fashion victim. Last time I saw her she looked like someone had got a brown crayon and drawn two elongated triangles above her eyes. Actually, someone had got a brown crayon and drawn two elongated triangles - she had.

Oh well, I'm sure I looked dreadful in some of the 80s fashions I thought were the business at the time. On the plus side, we didn't have digital cameras in those days so it was easier to hide the evidence.

Dawndonna · 11/07/2012 10:13

Eyebrow stencils have been around for years, I got my first lot at 14. I'm 53 now. I don't use them anymore, years of practice and I can pencil in my eyebrows without thought. However, I have alopecia, so very little eyebrow, and I don't go mad with the pencil.

Pagwatch · 11/07/2012 10:24

Someone should warn nevaeh that they look gnikcuf diputs

RoxyRobin · 11/07/2012 10:35

What Confused?

Oh dear - have you poked yourself in the eye trying out the comedy brows and now can't see to type. I do the same with my mascara wand.

RoxyRobin · 11/07/2012 10:38

Ooh - I see - now I get it. I must be diputs.

wildfig · 11/07/2012 10:42

When I see those HD brows, I just see <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=thunderbirds&hl=en&client=safari&sa=X&rls=en&biw=1106&bih=641&tbm=isch&prmd=imvnsa&tbnid=B35Ey0gW38_VbM:&imgrefurl=www.moviestore.com/Photos/T106540_C82753.html&docid=JmAh0OCTVASyJM&imgurl=www.moviestore.com/library/photos/282/282753.jpg&w=304&h=380&ei=CEr9T4fSFc2g8gPf1filBw&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=866&vpy=63&dur=671&hovh=251&hovw=201&tx=166&ty=151&sig=103996702356981578874&page=3&tbnh=144&tbnw=124&start=38&ndsp=22&ved=1t:429,r:4,s:38,i:275" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">this

RoxyRobin · 11/07/2012 10:44

God, he was sexy.

TheSmallPrint · 11/07/2012 10:48

Yes it's the Scouse brow and it is possibly the most ridiculous thing ever. I am sure it started as a joke on Desperate Scousewives, well that's the first place I saw it anyway.

Yorkpud · 11/07/2012 10:50

Oh, I didn't know that was the fashion. One of the mums at school had eyebrows like this and I really struggled to take my eyes off them when I talked to her as they looked so OTT!!!

TurkeyDino · 11/07/2012 10:50

Oh dear... It seems I am a victim of the scouse brow. I now fear that all of the brow related compliments I have received were not sincere Sad

CherryBlossom27 · 11/07/2012 10:53

It looks wierd! I don't mind big eyebrows like Audrey Hepburn

www.google.co.uk/search?q=audrey+hepburn&hl=en&client=safari&tbo=d&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=q0z9T4yPBYSA8gOq8MTIBw&ved=0CDUQ_AUoAQ&biw=1024&bih=672#biv=i|18;d|ioIVOE9nSV6YgM:

but Scouse Brows are awful IMHO!

Eliza22 · 11/07/2012 11:08

"Just put some lippy on and read a book". Grin !!!

Thing is, it's a look that starts off at around 15 in my neck of the woods. I see pretty young school girls, walking into school with over beached hair piled atop their heads; they're a ghastly orange colour and way too too much slap on.

Dont get me wrong, i need all the cosmetic help i can lay my hands on but I was in my twenties before I realised I could wear makeup and look very very different and (whether I wanted it or not) get a lot of attention.

The brows are crazy.... All Nefertiti-esque. Which looked great in Ancient Egypt but not in a small Cheshire market town at 0820 on a pissed wet through morning Confused

wildfig · 11/07/2012 11:26

One thing I do like about bewilderingly unflattering eyebrow fashion is that it gives a depressing nice historical insight into how my own mother/grandmother must have felt about that equally gorgeous MAC Spice lipliner/paler lips trend, and 'sculpted' 80s blusher...

WavingLeaves · 11/07/2012 11:29

ha yes, and the 80s gelled hedgehog look.

OP posts:
MrsKwazii · 11/07/2012 19:36

I remember my sister going through the 80's navy mascara and eyeliner phase - looked good with her big old bouffy perm Grin

FormerlyTitledUntidy · 11/07/2012 19:43

I'm always getting complimented on my eyebrows. They are Sofia Loren like. I don't pluck them, it's just how they grow.
