What coat are you wearing in the rain?

I need something to wear to do the school run and go in/out of the car in the rain. What's stylish and what's definitely not stylish? It won't be my winter coat but needs to get me through to when I can start wearing my winter coat.

No idea Ruby-will watch this thread with interest! I want a raincoat, that is waterproof, doesn't make me sweat! And is not a packamac or similar!

Also NOT Boden!

Want to be v stylish but dry! A swing coat style maybe?

Have a Merrill Haven for the winter, but just too too hot for now!

NadiaPopov · 22/06/2012 20:22

I have a boden rainy day mac

RecursiveMoon · 22/06/2012 20:23

I want something too. I have a full on North Face affair for the depths of winter, but J really want something for the eternal rain.

MarshaBrady · 22/06/2012 20:24

Paul & Joe dark navy trench. Had it for ages now.

BorisJohnsonsHair · 22/06/2012 20:25

I have a black, 80s style men's mac. I love it and don't care whether it's fashionable or not. (although I'd rather it was Smile)

TheMysteryCat · 22/06/2012 20:28

This

It's extremely comfy and wind/rain repellent.

no idea whether it's fashionable or not, but I like it!

GraduallyGoingInsane · 22/06/2012 21:15

I have an Autograph (M&S) trench. It comes out every year without fail.

Was wondering-I said NOT BODEN! Aaaaaaaaargh!

WhereMyMilk · 22/06/2012 22:04

Sorry to shout, just everyone wears that BODEN coat.

Like Seasalt-especially the Kellifray Mac, though obviously like the navy which is sold out? Thoughts on White?

Spookey80 · 22/06/2012 22:05

I have always been someone who never liked practical jackets, but I bought a spray way jacket after crimbo, in the sales. It is chocolate brown with a coral edging. It has a fleece lining that you can remove, so in all this horrid weather I have been wearing that without the lining. I absolutely love it! Wear it all the time, not that fashionable, but oh so right in this current weather.

Spookey80 · 22/06/2012 22:07

I bought it in one of one big outdoor stores, prob easy to find if it did sound like it may appeal to you.

TheMysteryCat · 22/06/2012 22:13

wheremymilk

I love the navy too!

I happen to be very close to a shop that stocks seasalt, but doesn't have an online store. I can see if they have the navy tomorrow if you like... you might be able to order it over the phone and pay, poss with delivery? no idea, but i could try and find out. it's just a little shop.

WhereMyMilk · 22/06/2012 22:18

Oh that would be lovely thank you! I am normally a size 10, but see on reviews someone had written to size up so could fit a sweater for colder weather, so maybe a 12 would be good?

Thank you,x

TheMysteryCat · 22/06/2012 22:20

i find they are pretty good as a fit, a bit generous, but not oversized.

i'll see what i can find tomorrow!

WhereMyMilk · 22/06/2012 22:23

Excited now-quest may be over!:o

TheMysteryCat · 23/06/2012 20:27

sorry to report but the shop didn't have it!

you could try phoning seasalt in falmouth and asking if any branches have stock. they might be able to check. they're a relatively small company, so they might want to help make a happy customer!

WhereMyMilk · 24/06/2012 22:02

:(

Thanks for trying though.

May try St Ives...

Mombojombo · 24/06/2012 22:06

A ludicrously colourful SOS Jensen mac from TKMaxx. It's just fab, technicolour florals that brighten a rainy day. Get compliments every time I wear it.

suebfg · 24/06/2012 22:17

Mombojombo, does the SOS Jensen MAC have any lining/warmth? I was checking those out on TK Maxx earlier.

ruby22 · 24/06/2012 22:19

not sure about this, is it too like a child's raincoat?
thanks for all replies btw

Don't think childlike. Not sure about the back...I tend to look like a sack of potatoes unless have buttons or a belt or something to pull it in a bit.

Vickles · 24/06/2012 22:44

Boden rainy day mac, navy bloom... Bloody brilliant when pushing a buggy. Heavy weighted and nice long sleeves and fantastic hood. I got mine for £85 in the sale last month. I love it. Cannot recommend it enough. They've got a preview for their new autumn range....new season patterns.

Dancergirl · 24/06/2012 23:12

Sorry, another Boden rainy day mac wearer here! Mine's black with a purple lining, I'm not keen on the prints. It's a good length, great hood, keeps you warm and dry and you don't need a brolly.

dingdong3 · 25/06/2012 00:27

Merrell Wakefield non insulated version - mind you, I'm still wearing my insulated one atm...tho with just a t-shirt underneath but am mulling over getting the non-insulated one as it's so brilliant. The rain just wicks off it so you don't end up with a wet car seat!
