Hunter wellies - what colour should I get?

I know, everyone thinks they're rubbish...but, if you have a pair, what colour are they?

Am tempted by gloss red and violet but sense matt aubergine or navy more practical.

And yes, I am a long way from the nearest farm and I may well wear them in Chelsea.

I have the glossy black and love them. Actually they lost their gloss and discoloured when I stored them in the airing cupboard, but luckily Hunter sell a little kit for bringing them back to life for idiots people like me Smile

PuffPants · 22/06/2012 20:58

Yes, I'd heard that about the gloss ones - they do look fun though, for city wear.

I have the aubergine pair. But now on my 3rd pair. In 2 years. They are rubbish. Hole in the seam on the first pair, hole in the heel of 2nd pair. Customer service told me that they were getting 'heavy use' when being worn to walk dog in north London for approx 2 hrs a day in autumn/winter. Ridiculous. Don't buy them.

(BTW I didn't pay for the 2nd and 3rd pair, but neither did Hunter - they refused to give a refund.)

stayathomegardener · 22/06/2012 21:09

ooh I have the snakeskin pattern in black-THEY PLEASE ME

dd has fuchsia in gloss-THEY PLEASE HER Smile

and now we are the same size I can indulge her and we do swaps

germyrabbit · 22/06/2012 21:10

surely the bog standard green ones would look classiest

germyrabbit · 22/06/2012 21:11

wadadlis why do you keep on buying them then? Grin

suebfg · 22/06/2012 21:12

I'd go for the glossy black ones

wadadlis · 22/06/2012 21:13

I don't keep buying them - see the BTW

Can't say why or my SiL will get the sack, but neither of us stole them, honest!

SpottyTeacakes · 22/06/2012 21:13

I have navy ones

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 22/06/2012 21:13

Please don't buy pink ones. Ugh.

GraduallyGoingInsane · 22/06/2012 21:13

I wish I'd got either the traditional hunter green, or the navy. Or the glossy black so I could have worn them in the city as well as the country.

I got pale pink. Then my MIL said 'oh, pink, feet like pig's trotters.' Somehow, the love for them has faded since then...

DontmindifIdo · 22/06/2012 21:15

navy or green, otherwise people will laugh at you behind your back.

germyrabbit · 22/06/2012 21:16

oh sorry wada

how about \link{http://www.hunter-boot.com/original-big-brand/black\these} nice and subtle Grin

wadadlis · 22/06/2012 21:17

That really made me laugh!!!

Cremolafoam · 22/06/2012 21:24

Watching with interest. Let us know when you tried them on. Do they come up true to size? Have u gone for hunter or huntress? I'm tall so I thought huntress might be short on me?

PuffPants · 23/06/2012 10:33

They're classic Hunter - seem true to size so far. I could do with 5.5 so will have to go with 6 and wear welly socks. They seem to come up higher than other wellies, should be ok if you're tall.

I had green ones when I was a kid. (before they were fashionable). Loved them and they lasted for ages

daimbardiva · 23/06/2012 10:48

I have red ones (not gloss) and love them. They're my second pair in about 5 years though whereas my first pair of hunters lasted me for about 13 years! I do use them heavily though, and they're really comfy. I buy the traditional hunters as i'mtall and find they size big so i buy a size lower.

PorkyandBess · 23/06/2012 10:49

I am very boring and have the green ones. I have got the Hunter socks too which I love.

I have had no problems with them and I wear them a lot.

Mine are purply, I think they're the aubergine. Got them years ago though and they're still good. Heard bad things about the newer ones

Northernexile · 23/06/2012 11:02

I have had my matt aubergine pair for about 18 months and I love them! Haven't had any problems with them at all, and I live in the country and wear them pretty much every day.

flowwithit · 23/06/2012 11:29

My favourite are the black gloss or green (classic but a bit boring)
