Hunter wellies - what colour should I get?

I know, everyone thinks they're rubbish...but, if you have a pair, what colour are they?

Am tempted by gloss red and violet but sense matt aubergine or navy more practical.

And yes, I am a long way from the nearest farm and I may well wear them in Chelsea.

I would go for joules wellies- bit less populist.

nothinglefttolose · 23/06/2012 11:34

Mine are blue.
But it is immaterial really as
They are covered in mud ,grass and probaly horse shit.

flowwithit · 23/06/2012 11:37

Do you have to pay to return the ones you don't want to Amazon?

I like the look of joules ones but are they as comfy and do they last?

scarlettsmummy2 · 23/06/2012 11:47

I tried some joules on last week- they didn't feel any different to the hunter or m and s ones I have had in the past- I don't find any wellies particularly comfortable. My daughter has some joules ones and they are holding up well!

PuffPants · 23/06/2012 13:06

Free delivery and returns with amazon. You don't even have to go to the post office, a courier cones to take them off you. It's a wonder they make any money!

Am rather liking the red gloss...

I have green ones as I live in the country - nobody would take you seriously otherwise. But gloss black ones sound nice.

TequilaMockinBird · 24/06/2012 18:03

I've just bought some pale blue gloss ones. Only £39.99 in TK Maxx Smile

I do have what maybe a stupid question though. Are they supposed to be tight to your leg around the top? Or have I just got fat calves? Blush

Bunbaker · 24/06/2012 18:52

"they do look fun though, for city wear."

Do people really wear wellies in town? Honestly? I live in a rural area and the only time I have worn wellies to work is when we have had several inches of snow.

AuntyMo · 24/06/2012 18:55

I have Joules wellies in navy gloss. Hunters are a bit too Coleen Rooney for my liking, sorry.

cgw60 · 11/08/2012 09:33

Hunters are rubbish. I bought a pair for my DS last year - and they lasted about 3 months before he put a hole in them. The rubber is so thin. So I trawled the net for welly boot sites and found www.welliesforkids.com They dont do hunters but I bought a great pair of wellies called Muddies. They are made of really thick rubber and he has been kicking everything that moves - and they are not even scratched. 10X better than hunters....

I have black Hunters, the adult wellies are far more hard-wearing than the children's, I've found.
They're useful for some of the very muddy walks round here. Though I'd avoid the colours, personally, as they seem to be very popular with the children.

MrsBovary · 11/08/2012 09:47

I'd put them on a par with Joules wellies in terms of quality. I prefer Aigle for longevity.

Lucyellensmum99 · 11/08/2012 09:54

Im sorry but this is one fashion trend im really not getting - WHY would you choose to wear wellington boots unless you absolutely have to? I just laugh when i see them and am tempted to creep up behind folk wearin them and go "Baaaa" Its like cath kidstone but worse! in fact, i wonder if you get get them in the cath kidstone pattern?

gregssausageroll · 11/08/2012 10:21

I have green, navy and purple aubergine. Have had them years and they last well.

pmgkt · 11/08/2012 10:26

The only colour for hunters is green. I have had 2 pairs, and love them. No problems here although I hear they no longer make them in the UK and quality has dropped. Shop around too ad I managed to save 25 that way.

SleepyFergus · 11/08/2012 10:46

I've black glossy ones, Regent I think? Supposed to look like riding boots? They're lush, esp with skinny jeans. I use them in town when wet and rainy and when visiting friends who live on farms - multi functional!!
