Leather shopper: Zara, asos or A.N.Other?

PippiL · 10/06/2012 17:21

this is the asos version

this is the Zara one I quite like the navy, but would probably get tan. have seen these around a lot though and for some reason that puts me off a bit.

There is a beautiful £350ish one on asos that I really like, but it's about £250 over my budget.

Anyone got any advice? I like the really thick unlined leather look. Prefer it to be able to go over my shoulder, and not toooo massive.

i think that asos one is REALLY nice,

Itsgottabebags · 10/06/2012 17:26

They are both lovely but would say than the handles on the second bag would put me off as I wouldn't be able to get it over my shoulder and it would be heavy when filled!

PippiL · 10/06/2012 17:29

The zara one comes with a should strap thingy that goes from end to end if you see what I mean.

Looks like the asos one you could make the straps longer sight the buckles, so I guess would go over your shoulder.

the zara one is a bit hard in rl - looks like it could be a trendy waste paper bin

Itsgottabebags · 10/06/2012 17:30

There is also this leather shopper

I like the orange which is currently on sale but I am not liking the sale price.

PippiL · 10/06/2012 17:37

Yeah I was thinking it might soften??? Over time, maybe?

The m&s one looks like lovely leather, great quality, but looks huuge. Like the colour. Like the unlined leather.

marks looks feckin huge though

Rowood · 10/06/2012 17:42

I have the Zara one an it does have a shoulder strap- which looks cool when it's on the shoulder. It's really sturdy, you can get loads in it and I use it for being a mum to five kids and for work - I have to dress up smartly (thank god no one searches my bag at work lol)
Lots of people comment on it. It's a lot of bag for the money!

madammecholet · 10/06/2012 17:53

Zara one is lovely..

DameDoom · 10/06/2012 17:58

Lauren Goodger from TOWIE has the Zara tan one ... sorry.

wheresthepopcorn · 10/06/2012 18:12

The Zara one is nice but it's really big - have you seen it on someone before? Only ask as I changed my mind when I saw it for real and decided it was too big for me. It was originally seen on Olivia Palermo and all the fashion blogs picked up on it. They do a similar mini version www.zara.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product/uk/en/zara-S2012/189512/737556/DIE-CAST%2BMINI%2BSHOPPER, although in more adventurous colours. It also is pretty stiff so not sure how much it would soften? Perhaps Rowood can let us know?

OllieinOrange · 10/06/2012 18:23

They also do the a mini versn of the Zara shopper in navy. http://www.zara.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product/uk/en/zara-S2012/209504/735036/MINI%2BSHOPPER here I have one. Its a great size. I loved the colours of the other mini version bit didnt really like the holes. Havent really used mine yet - saving it more for autumn/winter. Tis v stiff like wheresthepopcorn says but may well soften???

OllieinOrange · 10/06/2012 18:23

Link again here

Itsgottabebags · 10/06/2012 18:35

Oh my I love the smaller Zara bag but I have 2 Mulberry bags that need fixing. I must not buy the Zara bag. I. Must. Not.

Bletchley · 10/06/2012 18:37

I have seen the Marks one and the Zara one but not yet bought either. As people have said, the Zara one is stiff and the Marks one is massive. The Asos one looks lovely, do you know how it compares for size?

noddyholder · 10/06/2012 20:20

zara one is lovely and softens fast other one nice too

The3Bears · 10/06/2012 20:27

I really want the zara one persuading dp to get it for me Grin It is massive though.

Itsgottabebags · 10/06/2012 21:40

Will the small Zara one go in the sale?

PippiL · 10/06/2012 22:14

Does the smaller one also have a strap?

I still like the huge one. Not massively bothered if it's a bit stiff...ooh er.

Saw the Zara one a few weeks ago and forcefully made myself forget about it - and now this post appears.
Obviously fate GrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

anniewoo · 10/06/2012 22:25

Zara one looks a lot more expensive than it is. Classy

PippiL · 10/06/2012 22:32

Sooooo, big one or small one then?

Tan or navy?

OP posts:
tethersend · 10/06/2012 22:39

I have the zara one and wish I'd bought this JL one, TBH.

PippiL · 10/06/2012 22:48

Why tethers? Quality?

I dunno, I know the quality looks better on the jl one, but the Zara one is a smidge more stylish, no?

OP posts:
tethersend · 10/06/2012 23:00

Yes, quality- also, the shoulder strap on the zara one has proved to be a bit shit and snaps off its fasteners every time I use it.

I think the JL one looks better too.
