Can't remember which MNetter, but I asked for a cheaper alternative to my pricy Clinique makeup remover.
I have tons of coconut oil in my kitchen cupboard and had never considered it!
Not only does it work better on all my waterproof eye gunk, it doesn't have the irritation / greasy factor...I do follow up with Liz Earle cleanse and polish but after that there's no residue, just soft skin! And the tub I used, is only £1.69 so I didn't even have to buy organic health food stuff!

Compared to about £16 ish? i think? for the Clinique!

its a brilliant moisteriser too. You dont need that expensive stuff.

its fab. Dig some out with a thumb nail and melt it in your palms. Rub on face, hands or anywhere. You can cook with it too.

I got mine from Tesco - £6.50 in the cooking oils aisle but someone else said that they got theirs for 99p in the world food aisle but I've never seen it there when I've looked.

How did you use it as a make up remover Lololizzy? Do you just massage it in and then take it off with a warm, wet cloth?

I literally scooped some onto a cotton wool pad and gently rubbed. I used a big dollop and now realise a small bit would probably do it. I wear waterproof eyeliner and usually two or three layers of waterproof mascara (combined with Clarins double fix!) so it's usually a job to shift. I massaged it in and rubbed, gently rotating the pad. The rest (and coconut residue) was shifted using Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish on a warm muslin cloth. (this doesn't do the job on its own though it probably would on non waterproof.) then i leave my eyes bare overnight rather than put fresh makeup on (just in case there is any residue left, though didn't seem to be) so new makeup won't slide off

i would say....the coconut shifted about 2/3 of the makeup, and the Liz Earle did the rest.
The Clinique I used to used (which i also followed with L E) shifted about 1/3 of the makeup!
Bearing in mind i wear makeup to go the distance , as have very watery eyes/ oily lids. If you wear lightweight, it will be a doddle

asian food stores/ indian grocers are best for cheapies. Mine is £1.69 for a good sized tub. I have splashed out on pricier one now from Holland and Barratt, but will use that for eating / hair. If the cheapie one can move my heavy duty gunk, it's pretty damn good!

I got mine from the food oils aisle in Sainsburys for about £6. Nice organic virgin stuff.

KTC pure coconut oil. £1.69 from the asian foodstore on Tolworth Broadway but I've seen in my indian stores

no need for cotton wool, just melt in hands, rub on dry face, inc eyes, then remove with hot water and cloth (flannel or muslin)

you can always do a double cleanse if required

I second the Asian food stores advice. And also fwiw you can use any oil for makeup removal, though I find the 80/20 olive/ castor combi works best for me.

oops many , not MY indian stores! if were my stores, probably would've tried sooner!

Do you need to use anything else to wash afterwards, or is the coconut oil a good enough cleanser on it's own? I've been using simple face wash but it's a bit drying.

Robin I just use CO as a cleanser then a flannel to wash with warm water and remove all residue.
