Do you get holes in your tops while wearing jeans?

I have ruined many tops when wearing them with jeans. I think it is the hard bit at the top of the piece that goes over the button and it rubs tiny holes in to the top. Does anyone else suffer from this or know how to combat it?

I've not had this problem but dh has. We thought it might be his belt, so he bought a different one - no more holes yet, but he's not had the new belt long!

ChablisLover · 16/05/2012 22:51

I always put it down to belts and carrying ds. So changed belts- seemed to do the trick

notapizzaeater · 16/05/2012 22:52

I dont wear belts and get loads of the little holes, just noticed some tonight in a top I've worn 3 times Angry

hippoCritt · 16/05/2012 22:53

I thought it was a belt problem too

dexter73 · 16/05/2012 22:54

I don't get this and always wear a belt.

naturalbaby · 16/05/2012 22:59

I've been wondering what this was. DH gets holes in a lot of his t-shirts and now I am too after starting to wear belts more often. Between that and wearing out the knees in our trousers, we're throwing out a lot of clothes at the moment!

whitelillies · 16/05/2012 23:07

Yes - have had a few ruined because of it - it s also due to the fact that Our counter tops in the kitchen come to just that height

notapizzaeater · 16/05/2012 23:11

Thinking about it DH wears a belt and doesn't get it but doesn't spend much time at the countertop ......

GobblersKnob · 16/05/2012 23:12

We have had threads on this before. I mean that in a 'is a common problem' type way not in a 'yawn' type way Grin

It is just a mystery where they sodding come from. I vote for a teeny moth that lives in you belly button and comes out for a quiet munch every mow and then.

onedaybaby · 16/05/2012 23:47

Sorry! Did do a quick search but it's not effective on my phone. I want to revamp my wardrobe and would like to include jeans so hence the question. I've experienced it with and without belts. To save money, I guess I'll stay away from jeans unless there is a miracle cure. :)

I have never heard of this problem!

BackforGood · 16/05/2012 23:53

Me neither!

BloooCowWonders · 17/05/2012 05:57

it's a problem that often comes up in the 'good housekeeping' topic. Some people think it's to do with the spray cleaners that are used on counters and table tops (in cafes as well as at home)

oasisinthedesert · 17/05/2012 06:06

YES! and been really thinking about it. I thought maybe moths in my drawer and so annoying!! ruined tons of tops lately

JesusWept · 17/05/2012 06:41

I have had this problem and put it down to wearing a belt. I no longer wear one.

RomyMadison · 17/05/2012 06:52

Oh I just discovered the other day my favourite top had a rip from rubbing on my jeans :(

Byeckerslike · 17/05/2012 06:57

I get this all, the time, i thought it was somethhing in my washing machine, obviously not!
I have loads of tops with a little cluster of holes around belly button height!

Angry
dietstartstmoz · 17/05/2012 07:07

I also get this a lot and have ruined quite a few tops this year. I have stopped wearing a belt hoping this will stop it. I have ruined some nice tops.

Janet12 · 17/05/2012 07:44

Have this problem too- it is only on certain material tops and didn't happen in the winter but that could be down to thicker material tops being worn in winter.

I have actually had a new top that I have checked through the day to see when these holes develop and they did and I still don't know how!!! It's not moths as I stopped putting them back in the wardrobe and it happens on the tops I wear all the time and NOT on the ones left in the wardrobe!

lilbreeze · 17/05/2012 07:50

This happens to me too! I don't wear a belt and it particularly happens when I'm pregnant.

No idea if this is in any way helpful!!!!!

schobe · 17/05/2012 08:48

As I recall, the most recent mn survey on this suggested a preponderance of granite work surfaces in sufferers.

FioFio · 17/05/2012 08:50

are you sure there isn't a little moth living in your belly button?

lilbreeze · 17/05/2012 09:24

No granite and an outy belly button here

four or five wears out of each one That works out at £1 an outing! Am a bit worried by this as it makes me feel like a skinflint. My T shirts have been with me for four or five years.Blush
