I realised that I have no idea whether I am doing stuff right, or in the right order even, I wear makeup, but not every day - no idea why not as I look SO much better with it on! I have that BB cream from Boots, the one that is purple out of the tube then rubs in clear? That makes a massive difference to my complexion, I put it on half my face one day to look and see the difference and was really impressed.

I use black eyeliner (don't shoot me!) and find the Urban Decay one good, I have loads that are really hard and drag the skin under my eyes so they are gathering dust.

So, every most days I manage to...

cleanse my face with Simple makeup remover/cleansing wipes
pluck stray hairs from brows chin and top lip

Fortnightly, I can't really think of anything other than get my nails done - I have acrylics as I eat my nails if they are not rock solid

Monthly, what should I be doing? My heels are awful with dry skin and I can't afford a pedicure though I would love one, I do have some id that heel c ream somewhere...

I sound a right mess don't I. Help me please...

Daily (I'm on mat leave so some days this doesn't quite go to plan but...)

I use:
-pre-cleanse, special cleanser & skin smoothing cream by Dermalogica

  • Estée Lauder Longwear foundation & Bobby Brown concealer
  • Benefit Posietint on cheeks & a bit of Highbeam on cheek bones
  • I use two Mac eyeshadows - cant remember their names but they're pretty nude.
  • curl lashes & use black mascara
  • nude lip liner and Nars lipstick in Dolce Vita

I use a curling wand on my hair when I have time. Have a trim every 6 weeks. Eyebrow threading every year month.

I would like to have my nails done more often but it just doesn't happen.

No body care routine aside from shaving and occasional moisturising.

Oh and this week I have embarked on tooth whitening using 22% carbamide peroxide gel.

It sounds a lot. I still look a mess & my clothes are often covered in puke or drool.

KellyKettle · 11/05/2012 16:53

I haven't used BB cream but I have a BB concealer (got it this week) and I think it's responsible for some bumpy, blocked pores around my eyes and tops of my cheeks.

lololizzy · 11/05/2012 23:40

I use a foot file every single night, this is the only way they stay so smooth, then put lots of foot cream on
I get gels re filled on nails every 3 or 4 weeks (probably this is too long a gap, but can't afford more often!)
Moroccanoil Light every second day (after hair wash) as can't afford every day
Don't know why, but am really really fussy about feet! Can't have rough, dry feet! It makes me cringe.
Makeup daily.
On the other hand...very slobby about hair like to think I'm being a bit boho about it all but really it's laziness and hating going to hairdressers I only get it trimmed once or twice a year. Dyed, not too often. But, hair always clean, and combed a lot throughout day as is thin and gets very tangly
Have underactive thyroid and the only good side to that is that it seems to inhibit hair growth, so I don't need to shave much, and haven't plucked brows for about 15 years (but do wish I had more of them)
Am obsessed with mascara, spend far too much time and money with that

lololizzy · 11/05/2012 23:41

try to cleanse and polish every single night, but often too shattered and resort to lazy face wipes!

rusmum · 11/05/2012 23:47

Daily- wash moisturise- make up, nail polish, hand cream.
Fortnightly- full shave, moisturise, face mask, foot file, etc
Monthly - ?

ilove · 12/05/2012 00:03

oh dear - I think I should just slink off with my tail between my legs - you all do so much more than me!

ok so today I took a bit more notice of what I do, and it went a bit like this...

washed and conditioned long hair conditioning only started in last week or so after could not get brush though it

face (after cleaning teeth obviously)

L'Oreal BB Nude Magique cream
Bronzer on cheeks and eyelids to brows
Black eyeliner under eyes, smudged - Urban Decay
Urban Decay eyeshadow primer put on
Urban Decay eyeshadow in bronze
Black mascara
Gold liner along top eyelids
Lipstick - a Clinique one

Deodrant and perfume - Chanel no 19 today

Hair brushed and left to dry

that, for me is almost a "full slap" day. The only missing bit was foundation (Clinique) after the BB cream.

So I CAN do it, but I will always decide I "haven't the time" or "it doesn't matter today". Sadly, it DOES matter as i can tell every time I see a mirror :(

beatenbyayellowteacup · 12/05/2012 19:19

Daily:
Wash hair, blowdry

Scrub face (Garnier, it's cheap but it's the best one I've found and I've tried Clarins and Organic Pharmacy)
Neals Yard face moisturiser
Mac concealer under eyes, foundation, blush, 3 shades of eyeshadow, mascara, eyeliner and Neals Yard lip balm
Neals Yard hand moisturiser
Perfume

Monthly:
Pedicure and manicure and eyebrow wax

Every 6 weeks:
Vagwax

beatenbyayellowteacup · 12/05/2012 19:21

And highlights every two months.

I feel like a blonde overtrussed bimbo Blush

Would love to look more natural and change my style to a more indie one.

ilove · 12/05/2012 20:48

I need a concealer that's as good as Touche Eclat but cheaper...but I can't afford to try loads out. Any ideas?

Moisterise your body everyday, including feet.
Ditto cleanse skin twice a day, exfoliate every day with gentle exfoliant.
Makeup every day-light.

Wash hair every 2 days, cut and roots every 6 weeks.

Facial and microdermabrasion every 6 weeks.

Legs and bikini line lasered so no need to do those.

ifancyashandy · 13/05/2012 08:54

shower, hair wash (& blow dry), body scrub & body lotion every day. Shave legs etc every day.

Cleanse & polish twice a day. Serum morning, facial oil at night. Moisture face every morning.

Make up (Chanel foundation, Touche Eclat, Chanel powder, Nars blusher, Bare Minerals Warmth, Revlon lipstick) every day.

No need for mascara as have eyelash extentions monthly.

Threading for eyebrows &top lip fortnight.

Bi-monthly Elemis facial. Do own deep cleanse, exfoliating mask, facial massage & moisturising mask weekly.

Hair cut & colour every 6 weeks.

Own manicure weekly. Own pedicure monthly but foot file weekly. Moisturise them daily when doing whole body after shower.

eggyblackett · 13/05/2012 09:00

ilove try the Boots No. 7 concealer as an alternative to Touche Eclat, I actually think it's superior. Plus it's only a tenner and they frequently do 3 for 2 offers.

Fragglefan · 13/05/2012 09:08

I was also abt to suggest boots no.7. I also find it better than touche eclat -though for under eye shadows shade 2 is way better as it has yellow tones (necesary to counteract dark circles). Also shade 1 can tend to give an overly illuminated look due to the pink tones (which looked rather scary on me). I use shade 2 on blemishes also with no problems.
Sorry for the waffle.

Daily Cleanse every morning with Emma Hardie balm then spray with Caudalie Elixir and moisturise with This Works face cream
Make up- Smashbox Primer, Estee Lauder invisible make up, Yves St Laurent mascara, Stila eye liner, Estee Lauder blusher,
Shower, wash and dry hair and straighten as it's annoyingly wavy..
Weekly Ren face mask, exfoliate with soap and glory body scrub and epilate legs.
Monthly Roots touch up as my hair grows extremely quickly and I have to hide my Badger streak Smile.

MarieFromStMoritz · 14/05/2012 18:57

Well, I have only just started. I live overseas, so the prices are different. But if you factor in all the takeaways, sweets, biscuits, magazines and rubbish that I am not buying, it shouldn't cost that much at all.

Once I am into the routine, I am sure I will look great Grin. Well, comparatively, anyway.

BellaVita · 14/05/2012 19:10

Daily, shower, shave, exfoliate body with Elemis and for the face I am using REN at the moment, moisturise, foot file. Cleanse and tone face with Elemis, use Elemis PCMC.

Makeup - Chanel/Lancôme foundation or Liz Earle skin tint, Bobbi Brown shimmer brick, either Sue Devitt or Laura Mercier eye pencils, sometimes Laura Mercier eyeshadow. Touché Eclait. ByTerry cream blush. ByTerribly mascara (curl them beforehand). Lipstick is either Laura Mercier "poppy" or Estée Lauder lipgloss.

I have an Elemis facial every other month.

Quite often I put the Elemis Tryenzyme mask on and whilst this is taking effect, I will put some of their frangipani oil on my hair, leave on for 30 mins and then shower and wash hair as normal.

My toenails are always painted.

My finger nails are manicured once a week (by me) and painted three times a week except for the odd occasion like now when I have had some gel nails done. I would say I treat myself to a proper manicure every 3 months or so.

My hair is done every six weeks, coloured every three months (but from is month I am having the roots touched up on every cut). I use Moroccan Oil after every hair wash.

Hopefully · 14/05/2012 19:26

Daily:

  • shower, scrub upper arms (I have that bumpy upper arm thing), hair wash (Naked anti-dandruff shampoo & conditioner) every other day. When I have time I blow dry with Redken blow dry lotion, other days it goes back in a ponytail
  • body lotion. I'll use whatever's cheap, but really love a Chanel one I have, and am planning on trying Dr Hauschka body oil soon
  • am: cleanse with House of Colour cleanser, toner, day cream and eye cream (all natural products)
  • pm: oil cleansing with sunflower and caster oils, Clarins night oil and HoC eye cream again
  • make up: beauty flash balm (not every day) Clarins foundation and under eye concealer, HoC eye shadow, lipstick, mascara, eyeliner and eyebrow pencil, No7 blusher
  • exercise: does more for your skin than anything you can put on it. I work out hard 6 days a week. Remember to cleanse soon after though, or you get spotty Smile

Weekly:

  • HoC face mask
  • HoC scrub
  • file nails (more like twice a week, probably) and apply nail envy stuff
  • big foot scrub, apply lots of foot cream (I CBA with sticky feet every day)

Monthly:

  • Paint toenails (weekly in summer)
  • wax legs and bikini line at home

6-weekly:

  • hair cut (I used to go much much longer as my hair is very straight, thick and healthy, but have a shortish bob now so can't go as long)
Hepsibaaah · 14/05/2012 19:50

Daily:
wash face with soap, every other day also use apricot facial scrub. srcub body with nylon body thingy, use electric sander rasp heels, serum to face if I use apricot scrub otherwise Clarins something or other for dry skin. Moisture body with Jergens (love the Clarins body stuff but too £££ for everyday)

make up: factor 50 if it's sunny, nothing else on face, just eye liner, eyeshadow and mascara

monthly or so: bikini and 3/4 leg wax, pedicure in summer months.

6-8 weekly, cut and colour
