Come and talk me down - I actually considered buying 'full briefs' yesterday...

Blush Blush Blush

I desperately need some new knickers! I've dallied with barely diguised full briefs boy shorts but they are horribly wedgifying.

I have a very wobbly tummy and bottom that need constraining. Basically I need big pants that don't look like big pants (not the tummy sucking in ones, just regular every day ones).

Please can anyone advise....

I like a big pair of Sloggi knickers. Keeps it all in and washes and wears well. The midi ones in black look fine. The maxi ones in white are hideous but just sooo comfy.

Born2BRiiiled · 26/04/2012 15:02

Asda. Fairly big, silkyish material, no vol and lace all around the top do don't look too heinous.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 26/04/2012 15:06

Absolutely not "shorts". This is quite weird, but my MIL always gives me some for Chistmas. HOw do say "I NEVER wear these - they go up my bumcrack"?

CeliaFate · 26/04/2012 15:10

I'm a fully fledged convert to the big pant. They cover all, don't go up your bum and are so comfortable you forget them. I could never go back to small pants now.

Myusualnameprobably · 26/04/2012 15:10

I love big pants, I embraced them a few years ago and now there is no going back.

Mine are m&s, they are so comfortable and never go up my bum!

CeliaFate · 26/04/2012 15:11

I second the warning about low slung jeans and short top - vpl above the waistband is not a good look Grin

Chandon · 26/04/2012 15:13

step away from the big pants !!!

Buy M&S brazilian knickers instead for comfy pants that look nice too!

TwllBach · 26/04/2012 15:14

I have many pairs of big knickers and I love them. DP loves them too. I got mine from la senza. They are big, black, sensible, practical and comforting. Coincidentally, they are also the only knickers that I will walk about in wih a top/vest on (at home) if I am feeling less fat than normal. DP will then, more often than not, jump me Grin

Take that, thong.

noddyholder · 26/04/2012 15:15

No no no I am clinging on to my fancy pants for now!

DawnOfTheDee · 26/04/2012 15:15

Am a recent big pant convert. Started wearing them after my c-section and keep intending to go back to 'nice' pants but big pants are just soooooo comfy....

DonInKillerHeels · 26/04/2012 15:19

I love my big knickers; got a set of gorgeous pairs from John Lewis after my EMCS and am still wearing them. Sooo comfy and do not go up your bum, ever (unlike bloody boy shorts). But if you go the big knicker route, buy black...nothing worse than a flesh coloured big pant.

My sister has just gone the whole hog and wears men's pants, which are infinitely better made and harder wearing than women's pants. They are brilliant.

DamselInDisgrace · 26/04/2012 15:19

I find that big pants are far more flattering than mini ones. All the mini ones stop at the least flattering part of a post-baby stomach, creating an overhang. Big pants do not do this. And they're more comfy.

You don't have to buy hideous big pants, but big pants are definitely the way to go.

noddyholder · 26/04/2012 15:22

But they are all hideous!

CrunchyFrog · 26/04/2012 15:24

I like shorts, am I the only one?

They are dead comfy.

Hate thongs, and hate big pants because all my trousers are low waisted.

DamselInDisgrace · 26/04/2012 15:27

They're not hideous. Nice ones can be quite glamourous. They often look better on than on the hanger/in the pack.

CMOTDibbler · 26/04/2012 15:27

Oh, I like shorts. But only if they totally cover my bum, and come up over the overhang point of my tum.

No one needs to see my midriff anyway, so all tops completely cover trouser top

QuiteOldGal · 26/04/2012 15:31

I buy these, very comfy and no VPL

M and S colette dinnigan are really lovely

KatieScarlett2833 · 26/04/2012 15:37

I threw out all my thrush inducing thongs and bikini pants about 2 years ago to embrace the big pants.

I have never looked back.

FuckedOfftotheFarSideofFuck · 26/04/2012 15:39

crunchyfrog I also like boy short pants and I don't find they go up my bum!

noddyholder · 26/04/2012 15:42

Big pants look ok in a vintage-y way but i think you have to be in even better shape to pull it off. Otherwise they are a bit Hattie Jacques. Brazillians and lace shorts have a slight shaping effect which is flattering

Yummymummyyobe1 · 26/04/2012 15:51

I am a small pants girl myself even at 39 + 4. xx

herbaceous · 26/04/2012 15:55

I'm teetering on the verge of embracing the big pant, partly due to CS overhang which isn't miraculously going away two years after the event.

I'm thinking these are right.

These are wrong.

HipHopOpotomus · 26/04/2012 16:01

I brought some to wear post birth - I still wear them occassionally and try not to like it too much. OH HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!

HipHopOpotomus · 26/04/2012 16:03

no one in the office knows I'm sitting her discussing and looking at BIG PANTS.

Ain't the interweb lovely!
