it's this one I really like it and its got good reviews. I don't want to look tarty though and I normally shy away from short skirts. Really, really like this one though!

Also I'm thinking if I wore navy tights with it, what shoes?

Please help Smile

Navy tights sound good ,less shirley than black!:o
flat brown knee high boots? or brogues ?shoeboots?

nothingoldcanstay · 22/04/2012 17:16

Also look good with lycra shorts underneath in a bright colour and sandals or deck shoes. Sort of European sporty look.

mrsebojones · 22/04/2012 17:38

I saw that skirt in the shop the other day and it is nice. Wear with navy tights and tan brougues or gold ballet flats or brown riding boots.

ninah · 22/04/2012 17:41

make sure you iron your face before you go out lol
short doesn't have to be tarty but I think you have to be fresh faced. I can't do it anymore (puffs on benson)

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/04/2012 17:53

I have no idea who Shirley is -

but I wear a denim mini with navy tights and either brown knee high boots (Autumn and Winter) or red ballet flats (Spring).

Please don't wear a denim mini with lycra shorts underneath. Perhaps NothingGold looks lovely in such a combo but most people would look utterly, utterly ridiculous imvho.

you are considering spending £50 on a skirt that you have to try really hard to style to avoid looking muttony in? Just buy a different skirt. Denim mini skirts really aren't very flattering if you're older than 25, the best you can hope for is to be "looking ok evey though I am wearing a denim mini skirt" you aren't ever going to look good - so buy a different skirt.

Remus - rot. Saw a very cool mum wearing the said outfit out for a walk with her brood. She was very fit and had a nice tan but I was really impressed. Came across sexy/fit but practical. She had on coral coloured running type shorts and they looked amazing.

noddyholder · 22/04/2012 18:15

Agree with remus wooly tights or a tan but cycling shorts Shock

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/04/2012 18:18

Rot indeed. :)

'Coral cycling shorts,' 'denim mini' and 'amazing' do not belong in the same sentence - or not in the world I live in, anyway. Will have to agree to seriously disagree on that one.

noddyholder · 22/04/2012 18:22

Didn't see the coral Double Shock! Grin

CointreauVersial · 23/04/2012 00:22

I have a similar one; I wear with opaque tights (usually grey) and biker boots.

It sometimes comes out in the summer, with bare legs and flip flops, but my knees aren't quite as "toned" as they used to be.

googietheegg · 23/04/2012 05:23

Step away from the cycling shorts!

iPad · 23/04/2012 06:18

If you go for a mini, cover your top half properly.. no cleavage. Otherwise you will rock the tarty look. Try Uggs with it for casual look with opaque tights.

AlpinePony · 23/04/2012 07:24

Wore one yesterday (a little longer), with grey toothless tights, deck shoes and joules hoody.

Hopefully did not look Shirley-esque despite being 38! ;)

Coral cycling shorts - I'm going to say "yes, Ms. Schiffer, you can get away with it at 40". (the rest of us will look like we've won a trolley dash at the WI jumble sale"!

AlpinePony · 23/04/2012 07:25

Toothless tights? Yes, really! (footless obv.)

PooPooInMyToes · 23/04/2012 09:20

I have one and Im 35 so bollocks to that under 25 rubbish!

I wear mine with grey woolly tights, jumpers etc and casual boots. I wear mine a lot and get a lot of compliments. They are so easy to wear! Just don't have boob on show!

warmandwooly · 23/04/2012 09:40

I would try follow how they have shown it in the picture.

AgeingFop · 23/04/2012 15:06

Coral cycling shorts? Hmmm. Saw a lady wearing a white, flared mini skirt with pink cycling shorts under on a couple of weeks ago (when we had that nice weather which was probably Summer).

Sounds awful, but actually looked pretty funky!

SixSiblings · 23/04/2012 15:16

I wear a very similar skirt with grey woolly tights, black boots and a sweater or hoody. Never with anything small on top, always sleeves and no cleavage. I don't have the legs to wear it without tights so its just for spring/autumn really.

Apologies for double post, don't know what happened there!

NewMatic · 23/04/2012 15:18

dont

i am so over them
they really are either middle aged white sutff mum with knitted tights and brown boots

or some ol slapper with primark leggings and cardi uggs

its your choice

NewMatic · 23/04/2012 15:19

ONLY ever wear with long bare tanned legs and flip flops and a broderie top with SLEEVES

typicalvirgo · 23/04/2012 15:25

this is a tricky one and really depends on how you feel when you wear it pinkfitflop.

It looks like a lovely skirt.

I made the mistake of buying a similar Top shop one last summer and always felt uncomfortable as it was very mini but i am 40+--. I have since bought above knee one and feel a lot happier.

PerryCombover · 23/04/2012 15:37

It all depend on your legs and how cold it is.
I think denim minis are dead with tights unless it's floral/ripped tights paired with massive patent dm boots and you are young or achingly cool

Otherwise

Grey or white t shirt and pair of converse if you have amazing pins
Otherwise it's Havanas Or v plain leather sandals

Maybe a drapey 3/4 sleeve t/shirt and some morocan jewellery with some strong glads (all a bit 3 yrs ago and could look desperate)
