I am a size 16 and medium of norkage.

Apple shaped so no super fitted waist wanted.

Ideally want an ivory Breton with thin navy stripes.

Prepared to invest!

No iron would be a bonus as am a lazy minge.

Boden. I bought a navy one there last month but they had cream too. Both short and long sleeved. I bought long sleeved and am a 14 and mine is not fitted on me and is a good length in the body.

Sea Salt

AlanMoore · 20/04/2012 16:53

Not quite the same but I have seen a lovely navy maxi with white chevrons in Phase 8 which looks like it would be superflattering on - worn with a navy top that would give a similar overall look?

cardoon · 20/04/2012 17:00

on sale

cybbo · 20/04/2012 17:02

Uniqlo has slash neck Bretons ivory with thin stripe.

you would have to iron it though Hmm

LittlePandaBear · 20/04/2012 17:56

French Connection have 25% off stripes and lots of lovely things!

DaisyWaisy · 20/04/2012 18:37

The Phase Eight chevron skirt is lovely and very flattering.

Rustygussets · 20/04/2012 23:07

Thanks everyone. I have taken the plunge and gone for the Boden maxi skirt.

Re tops I am going to try out some Next ones. The Boden Breton has such a wait- I can't be doing with it.

Not a person noted for patience.....but that would just stretch the limits of anyone. How long?

While we are on the subject why has Boden already run out of black maxi's? I mean come on it really shouldn't be too hard to keep on top stock should it?

I bought several of the Boden summer Bretons to try on and the fit wasn't good. Not a patch on their Autumn one. Had to send them all back.

I have bought the Next Breton (the one with the contrasting trim) and my only complaint is that it has quite a large square neck so can be prone to gaping when you bend down etc. But much much cheaper than Boden.

ivanapoo · 21/04/2012 16:05

This is a nice Bretonesque top

kaumana · 21/04/2012 17:01

Suebfg- glad to hear I'm not alone in flashing my norks in that Next top!

Update. Tried the Next jumper type Bretons-one with a red panel and another with a cobalt blue one. Not good. Round necked ( they look slash necked online), see through and boxy. Really poor quality.

Hope Boden offering better!

Love the French Connection style one.

I can recommend the Seasalt tops, I'm size 18, an apple with considerable norkage and wear mine all the time. It washed well & I never iron it Grin

sobenobu · 21/04/2012 20:07

I must be one of the few that didn't get on with the Boden breton, it was bizarrely tight on the arms. I don't work out.....but I don't have bingo wings either soConfused
Uniqlo ones are much better but probably twice as thick.

BikeRunSki · 21/04/2012 20:10

White Company have some navy maxi dresses if you are still looking.

HavingAnOffDAy · 21/04/2012 20:15

I got a breton top similar to the Seasalt ecru & navy one from from H&M for £12.99 and that's got a slash neck.

I'm a size 14 with big norks and a belly to match & bought a small. It's a really nice length & not clingy at all. It's got a zip at the back (I've never used it but it may help you to identify it!) Minimum ironing needed too Grin

ujjayi · 21/04/2012 20:21

I returned the Boden one earlier this week. Bizarre fit and really not great quality - the H&M £12.99 and the Zara £12.50 versions are far superior. I have been buying the H&M version for two summers now but have found the last selection bobbled relatively quickly.

I would definitely be tempted to try the Sea Salt version. Their tops are beautifully soft and excellent quality.

pluckingupcourage · 21/04/2012 20:23

Are Saint James bretons nice?
