Can you get nude tights which don't look old ladyish?....

I already have a thread going about a style dilema I have and I really didn't want to bare my legs, but black tights seem a little wrong for this time of year.

So, on lots of recommedations, I went and bought a few pair of nude tights and they look bloody awful. It's so obvious that i'm wearing tights and they just look so unattractive.

Does anyone know of a brand which look completely natural?

Wedding receptions tomorrow so i'm panicing i'm going to have to go bare legged! It wouldn't be pretty!

I'm 32 and for years I didn't wear nude tights as I thought they were a bit granny! Anyway I have dabbled with them recently and find not only do they make my legs look better, they also keep me warm!

On Sunday my SIL asked me what fake tan I was wearing on my legs, I wasn't wearing tan I was wearing tights!!!

The tights were by a brand called Gipsy, they were soft gloss 15 denier natural glow. I got them in a small local store so not sure how widely available- £5.99 for 3 pairs.

You need nude fishnets/micronets... The best ones are the Wolford Twenties, a micronet, in 'Honey'. here

They are expensive, but they will last well if you look after them. Micronets make your legs look a zillion times better than 'standard' tights (that's why showgirls wear them) and are comfortable all year round (never sweaty). Also much more stylish.

Try sally hansen airbrush for legs instead.

It's really easy to use and cheap in Savers.

Recently discovered Falke Shelina - my mum thought I wasn't wearing any tights - they are 12 denier and come in a few shades.

Second M&S, micro nets and Gipsy (though not seen Gipsy for ages and ages).

Avoid glossy or denier above 10 for a proper nude look

fluffy, I actually have that spray you're talking about. If all else fails, that's my back up. It's so bloody cold though isn't it. Would much rather wear something on my legs. My legs go all blotchy and pimply when i'm cold. Nice!! Hopefully this leg makeup has good coverage!

Hopefully be popping into M&S in a bit, if I can persuade DD to have a trip into town and leave the mountain of Easter eggs she has at home. It's doubtful isn't it.

Try a couple of different shops - I find that different shops suit me better because it just depends what colour your skin is to start with

I was wearing what I thought was an excellent pair of tights for work. My friend told me I looked like was wearing her grannies false legs.

Aristoc Nude tights have always worked for me. I prefer the gloss ones to the matt though. I think matt tights make you look like you have dry skin!

LadyC you wear micronets? I may have to gemme some of them then.

I wore m&S 5 deniers before - lasted about 6 nanoseconds before I put my fingernails through them.

Pinot, not for a while actually, but that's more because I don't get invited to don't happen to have been to anything for a while where I felt that micronets were required. In the past I've worn them mainly for parties, drinks, anything basically where a knee-length or shorter dress and a 'bare' leg is the thing.

I'm considering the etiquette of wearing them for work now though ... what do you think? With a worky knee-length dress/skirt in a relatively sober colour.

Well you see LadyC I am a big ole fan of wearing the nice stuff on a day to basis. Spent so long saving stuff for best (and then realising best comes less and less nowadays) that I'm embracing the c-r-a-z-y notion of posh bits on a boring tuesday, for example. Wednesdays work too ;)

Feels nice :) So yep, embrace the posh tights for a weekday at work. Why the chuff not, eh?

I ve used falke - don't remember the name but they do ones that are very sheer - and with a small bit of sheen - it s v subtle but looks good.
I had a similar situation for my sis wedding I was bridesmaid dresses were to above knee. Had the falke tightd they're we're so sheer they were fine but I did get a run on them - we were at reception at that stage.
I had tan on them anyhow but we all put on bathina from benefit - it s amazing! You can use it in arms too - it kindof gives your skin dewy even tones looks fab. So if you decide to go for the nude rights it could be an option.

Pinot, oh yes, I agree. I only work in an office part-time and spend most of my working week working at home, in yoga trousers and terrible old cardigans with tea dribbled down them and birds-nest hair. So I quite like putting on a frock when I do have to go into the office. It's not the 'niceness' or poshness of nude fishnets that worries me, it's more the question of are they work-appropriate or are they more the kind of thing you'd wear out, socially? My workplace is quite casual too, so even in an everyday kind of frock and opaques I am usually the most dressed-up person there.
