What colours go with this?

I just bought some blue trousers and haven't got a clue what I can wear with them. I am so crap at colours I always end up wearing black.

The colour is quite like the top right one on this page , duck egg blue. I would prefer dark colours and if you say I can wear it with black I will be very happy

I'd wear that colour with black. Or crimson, or chocolate brown, or beige. Or white, if white didn't make me look filthy

JonesTheSteam · 07/02/2006 08:50

That colour looks lovely with chocolate brown.

Also navy and black.

controlfreaky · 07/02/2006 09:24

definitely chocolate brown. definitely not black (imo)

Angeliz · 07/02/2006 09:25

brown and blue. Lovely.

colditz · 07/02/2006 09:29

I bought some Cotswold Legbar eggs that were this colour, convinced ds would be delighted, but he didn't even notice, he was far too busy bashing his so he could dip it.

Turquoise · 07/02/2006 09:33

I would wear silvery grey with that, or cream, white or navy. Not black imo.

they are not on the site, pah.

Black, round toed, with wedge heel. Yum. All part of my new image makeover from Converse wearing jean-a-holic to skirt wearing yummy mummy.

melrose · 07/02/2006 10:01

Choc brown, cream or navy

You SEE we need the Style shop back MT.

Well maybe that colour was not as good a match as I thought because to me it is quite a light blue.

50 / 50 on black, hmmm....

Yes MT these are an attempt to get out of my black leggings.

brown, grey, navy, cream

if it were a top in that colour i would say you could wear black trousers, but i dont think it will look good the other way round

FrannyandZooey · 07/02/2006 11:19

Oh b*gger well they may have to go back. I don;t mind buying a new top but I can't get new boots as well and if they are not going to go with black boots then too bad.

Malory? Final executive decision on black boots?

OP posts:
doormat · 07/02/2006 11:25

black, cream or white

MrsBadger · 07/02/2006 11:28

chocolate or (I know it's not dark) tan/beige.

Since MIL got my Colours Done (whole other thread) I have abandoned black altogether (except coat - new one next year) and can honestly say I look a lot better - and it makes you think about what to wear more creatively as there is no black to fall back on.

Free yourself from black bondage!

oliveoil · 07/02/2006 11:29

I am always a bit wary of light colours on trousers/skirts etc. Would rather have colour on top.

Chocolate sounds much better than brown donchathink?

FrannyandZooey · 07/02/2006 11:33

Yes I really should do something about the tyranny of black but whenever I make an effort I slip back after a few months. I don't mind wearing colours on the bottom but prefer black tops. I think when you have a minimalist (ie cheap) wardrobe such as I do, it helps if everything goes together. With black everything always matches

MrsBadger · 07/02/2006 11:35

def 'chocolate' not 'brown'!
since the Cull I've become very aware of different browns - now know the difference between 'one shot latte' and 'two shot latte'!

melrose · 07/02/2006 11:52

I have hgradually replaced lots of black tops with lots of (chocolate!) brown ones. Just as versatile a sbrown goes with lots of colurus (pinks, blues, greens...) and much warmer.

JonesTheSteam · 07/02/2006 11:58

Oops - didn't read OP properly and thought it was a top you'd bought.

Don't think a black top would look right - if it were a top, think it would look ok with black trousers.
