please don't say it's hideous

It's for a couple of semi dressy do's. I have black peep toe heels which will have to do as I can't afford new shoes, and a black/silver clutch. Please put me out of my misery.

Its not my style but its nice - not too much to not like about it really.

Its quite a safe dress, so if thats what your looking for then its ideal.

Megatron · 06/04/2012 14:59

Safe is OK Grin they're both pretty stuffy work events. I'm also knocking on a bit (45) so feel like I have to err on the side of safe if you see what I mean. I thought I'd just wear a chunky silver bangle with it, do you think that would look OK? I'm so crap at this.

megatron you are young ( like me !!!Grin) it might be safe but I think it will look classy and elegant. Big fan of DP this season. With a big silver cuff and some fierce earrings(also think their jewelry is good value too )you will look great!
P.s I wore one of their dresses 6 wks ago and was asked if it was V Beckhan.......result Grin

mummyinspain · 06/04/2012 16:06

ok, I hate it, which means it must be up to date, on the noise fashion, and would look good on a size 12 to 14! SO go for it!

Megatron · 06/04/2012 16:11

Thu was def a result! sadly I doubt that will happen to me! Grin

Megatron · 06/04/2012 16:22

Thanks for your honesty mummy! Grin I haven't really got a clue about what's fashionable te be honest. I used to be so into clothes but I appear to be a classic 'let myself go' case so I'm trying to make an effort! I do think I'm a bit safe these days.

What shape are you? If you are large of nork or short waisted at all, I think it would be very unflattering. If you are tall and slim, it could look good. And how are your arms?

Megatron · 06/04/2012 16:36

ah remus I an bit large of nork :( Size 12 and arms ok but I'm only 5 ft 2 so do you think I might look a bit dumpy?

OP posts:
RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/04/2012 16:50

I'm a norky 12 and also 5'2 and it would look absolutely vile on me, I think.

AgathaFusty · 06/04/2012 17:01

It looks really nice, but I tried it one a couple of weeks ago and it made me look like a rather large hippo (am 5' 9", size 12). I reckon it would look best on a size 8 ish?

vonnyh · 06/04/2012 17:01

I really don't like it. Looks a bit "Strictly Come Dancing".

RandomMess · 06/04/2012 17:03

I think you're too short for it.

What body shape are you?

thenightsky · 06/04/2012 17:04

Sorry, I don't like it. It's a bit Tess Daley from strictly come dancing.

jamaisjedors · 06/04/2012 17:13

I think it could look a little bin bag-like... sorry

clopper · 06/04/2012 17:18

Random, I like that one much better and would be more flattering I think

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/04/2012 17:22

I think that nehru (sp?) collar would be terrible with norks tbh. Need something lower - a v or scoop or cowl neck.

DrHamstertoyou · 06/04/2012 17:28

I think it will look great with the shoes you describe and a silver clutch and bangle. Make sure it's not too long if you're quite petite and if I was you I'd wear my hair up to show off the detail around the neck and some drop earrings. If you're not massively confident can you do something to give yourself a boost like a manicure or pedicure especially if you're wearing shoes to show off your toes.

Megatron · 06/04/2012 17:29

Random that was actually the other one I liked I just wasn't sure, but perhaps that would be a better shape for me. I'm not liking the sound of vile, bin bag-like or Strictly Come Dancing! Grin Grin

How would you style Random's one?

OP posts:
RandomMess · 06/04/2012 17:29

I'd order a few different styles and see which looks best on. It may be too long on the top half as you're short.

I'm really short and lots of things just don't work Sad

Megatron · 06/04/2012 17:33

It's rubbish being short! I have another rather pathetic reason for wanting to look half decent. DH's ex girlfriend (from mooooooooons ago) will be there and I don't want her to think that he ended up with an old trout. :( I've met her before incidentally, and she's very lovely so it's not a 'handbags at dawn' situation or anything. She's really attractive and I'm worried I'll look totally shite.

OP posts:
badtasteflump · 06/04/2012 17:34

Bit too 'Carry on Cleo' for me.

Sorry, whadda I know anyway Smile

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/04/2012 17:34

This is super-flattering on norks (I wear a cami under it) and a v good price in the sale.

Megatron · 06/04/2012 17:36

Grin Grin to Carry on Cleo! That's lovely actually Random, I really like it.

OP posts:
RandomMess · 06/04/2012 17:37

what about the wrap dress on the DP site? Honetly get a few different ones and see what looks best on.

I'm apple shaped but have good legs so tend to wear short dresses complete hussy that I am but it's what will suit you best that counts.
