Hello all!

OP posts:
rufus101 · 05/03/2012 13:32

Ooh yes. Have a pair of Fryes. Only from last year though. But I know I will have them for years.
Forgot a dark brown DVF.
Funny how its all black, black and dark brown. I think I am winter colouring, as that electric blue works so well on me, as does black. Yet I also find browns good on me.

ReineDeSaba · 05/03/2012 14:01

fab question emo

I will always wear(if they last the distance and I don't change size)
prada blingy heels

CL black patent courts

2 DVF print dresses

marc jacobs leather and fur jackets

crumpet cashmere dress(teal) spotted on ebay by gorgeous ltec

only item bought at full price was prada heels(very pre-DDs!)

ReineDeSaba · 05/03/2012 14:02

sorry..just one marc jacob jacket..combination of both!

Hopefully · 05/03/2012 14:21

Thanks for the advice Slay.

Loving all the never dies lists. Mine is:

  • brown leather jacket, although it is finally, after more than a decade, on its way out
  • blue patent aldo peep toe mega high heels, bought almost a decade ago as well, lasted brilliantly and match most outfits
  • suspect my off white Inhabit cashmere jumper and camel Brora boyfriend cardigan will make the list, assuming they last

Am hoping that the next couple of years will mark the purchase of more never die items, as I appear to have some funds and actually not be PG/BFing for five minutes.

Slaymill · 05/03/2012 14:23

I love my MW scarf for travelling in style.
Comfy James Perse trousers
Toss up between my Chloe and Zara Woman Cream Jacket
AH clutch.
Brora cardigans
LK Bennett dresses
Zara Cigarette trousers from last year.

Having a hard day today! Up since 4am, DS behaving atrociously, me being snappy horrid mother with him and struggling to feed, wind or settle DD properly so she's being whingey too...aargh!

This is payback for the lovely easy weekend I had! I keep telling myself that life with a newborn and a 2.5 yo is going to have its ups and downs and not to be too hard on myself (or on poor old DS). But I'm just counting the hrs away until today is over!

Trying to think about die hards. Really liked Shane Watson's article and agreed with her general items. For me:

Burberry stone trench
Chanel 2.55
Black patent Prada courts
Black lace whistles dress (3yrs old and still absolutely current, long may that last)
and more generally: great skinnies, great blazers, great scarves.

Hope you're all having better days than me!

blue2711 · 05/03/2012 15:28

Still thinking of you mim and icey. Strangely, i actually found being induced preferable to having to make the dash to hospital suffering contractions and feeling anxious. I liked being settled and comfy - with dim lights, aromatherapy oils and nightie on! - before things really got going. Hope things go as well for you two, however you end up giving birth. I definitely believe there is no one 'right' way to do it.

hopefully we rent and are magnolia central too. I try hard to add warmth and character with all the furnishings and a neutral backdrop is at least inoffensive. Weirdly, though, we had to beg for curtains - our rather strange landlord thought they were unnecessary as the house isn't visible from the road. Hmm.

blossoming · 05/03/2012 15:36

Just quickly: remember EA is 6ft tall, so what suits her eg baxters won't suit us all.

Sorry to hear you are having a difficult day Blue, it will soon be over and tomorrow is another one.

Annie, the sweep is a bone of contention. My consultant wants me to have one on Friday but my MW won't do it because I am a VBAC. She is a bit drippy to be honest, never answers any questions etc. Thanks for the advice about blood sugars though.

Red these are the multi packs of the knickers. The reviews say they come up small, but to be honest I found them true to size.

Tried on Verity's navy TS blazer today, but sold out in my size in store and online. Am now on the hunt for it.

That's interesting Annie. I trust the consultant 100% over the MW, she does not install any confidence for me at all!

Think I'll call the consultant clinic tomorrow and explain MW won't sweep me and see if they are happy for me to go to the hospital for it to be done.

Why, why do I grow big 'uns? Grin

Icey, are you alright?

loobylu3 · 05/03/2012 16:37

Quick post for MIM. I can't understand why the m/wife won't give you a sweep in this situation. I'm thinking you are 38/39 weeks or so? I can only imagine that it is because it isn't according to protocol!
I would either call the Consultant led clinic and explain as you suggest. If not, contact the GP, explain the situation and ask the to arrange an appointment at the clinic for you or even perform the sweep if they are happy to do so.

I was after the TS navy blazer too- the sold out one. I managed to find one myself today and can probably point you in the direction or purchase one on your behalf if they won't post it to you. PM if you would like to.

MidnightinMoscow · 05/03/2012 16:42

I know looby, she is a bit of a wet weekend. When I told her that I had been to a VBAC class that her own maternity unit runs, she said, "Oh, I didn't even know they did them...what was it for?".

I am PM'ing you now.

blossoming · 05/03/2012 16:43

I have Johnnie B news. Shorts arrived. I love them!! And the vests. Shorts are very short, but they are for a beach holiday. I have last year's Wrap ones for sightseeing. I will order the cargo shorts in dune aswell.

Hello MiM- yes I'm fine. Dd has been dragging me around playing pretending games all day so haven't had time to post til now (I've persuaded her to watch a maisy DVD!)

Hope you can get your sweep. I have one booked for Thursday (will be 41+5 by then) which I suppose is my last chance saloon before sat. I'm sure induction will be fine otherwise- suppose it ought to be easier than the early one I had with dd- this one must be nearly ready to come!

Sorry to be ignoring the main focus of the thread- I am v envious of inspired by your 'never dies' lists. I'm also on the hunt for sunglasses and love trying them on. Hope to make a Manchester trip soon to find some lovely ones. Only tip I've ever learnt is that your eyebrows should show above the frames but that doesn't work with the oversize ones.

Really want to book a holiday- can anyone recommend somewhere that has a city (for dh) near a beach (for me and dc)?

OllieinOrange · 05/03/2012 17:14

Come over here Icey - we have a city and lovely beaches. Cant guarantee good weather tho.... Heard good things about Duinrell in terms of location and facilities but it may not be your kind of thing?
I loved Nice and anywhere along the coast in the south of France. The beach at Barcelona isnt great but some nice ones not far away with easy access to the city.

MiM speaking to the consultant tomorrow sounds like the right thing to do. i wish I had been more assertive over my prenatal care. Good luck with the TS blazer hunt. Im hoping the website will restock.
Bloss pleased the Johnnie shorts are keepers, am very Envy at your legs!

DH home a bit earlier this evening, am considering double shredding for the first time ever. Anyone would think there's a meet up coming up Smile

IceCreamCastles · 05/03/2012 17:23

I've been there ollie! Was about 15 and loved the pool- good weather was certainly not guaranteed Grin. Could work well though with little dcs- thank you. Nice is on list. I have heard mixed things about barcelona.

Really glad the shorts are good bloss.

blossoming · 05/03/2012 17:42

The thing with Nice is the beach is pebbly, but otherwise lovely.

Russianred · 05/03/2012 18:38

Excellent news about thte shorts Bloss - did you stick with usual waist size?

MiM definitely push for the sweep if it is standing in the way of you and a VBAC. I always found it very irritating that all of those involved in pre-natal care allowed their opinions to cloud their judgment and that their opinions never matched up. I always found my consultant far, far easier to deal with.

Icey Barcelona for sure. Love. It.

Have loved the never dies lists. Will ruminate.

Am off out to a gig tonight - a friend from University who I haven't really seen since packed in her job, went travelling and met the man of her dreams and they decided to start a two-man band and see if they could make it. Should be interesting!

blossoming · 05/03/2012 18:52

No I didn't red: I went for the 32s. I think we are used to stretch these days, and these have none. They are very comfortable on the waist, but tighter round the top of the leg. They would compare with a J Brand 30 I think. I am pleased as it wasn't that long ago I couldn't do up my size 14 boden shorts. All in all I would say that the johnnie b size 32 would be a size 12. Not much room for hips.

blossoming · 05/03/2012 20:56

red, do you like this white top?

Hopefully · 05/03/2012 21:20

Hands up who is Envy of Bloss's evident slimness.

Another vote for the Nice/Cannes/Monaco stretch of coast. It's all a bit cliched, but lovely, and plenty to do. We camped there, but lots of nice looking hotels.

Have just ordered the Warehouse leopard shorts to try. I don't for a minute think they'll look good, but one of those things that one has to try before admitting defeat Grin. Was going to buy them today but sold out in local shop and the half witted girl in there couldn't quite seem to get her head round my question over whether they'd be getting more in.
