bought a pair today from Asda, in a teal colour. Wanted red but didnt have my size. Felt strange wearing them as I remember wearing them 20 years ago :)
At my age (39) should I go for the pastel colours or will I get away with the bright colours.
SOmeone on mumsnet suggested the high waisted from next in green, really nice colour but very skinny :( couldnt get my legs in!

Wish I'd kept my red ones from 1981 Grin

I used to wear them with big white shirt (belted with leather belt with big pirate style buckle) that had lace cuffs and ruffle neck (adam ant/new romantic style) and a pair of high heeled wedge espedrilles with laces up the ankles.

Iggly · 17/02/2012 21:35

I have lilac ones. Wear them with White t- shirts, navy carries and ankle boots at the mo.
I got the new look ones but the fit isn't great :(

southeastastra · 17/02/2012 21:37

those high waisted next ones are hideous

i have some m and s red and nicer green ones and wear with sludgey blues and greys

monkeysmama · 17/02/2012 21:38

I'm wearing my (maternity) red ones with a black long sleeved tee and leopard print ankle boots and caramel leather jacket.

I think the bright pinks and lavenders look great with a simple grey marl though floral will work very well too.

smearedinfood · 17/02/2012 21:43

I have teal ones and I wear them with converses and blue tops, they look good with grey tops too

fraggle73 · 17/02/2012 21:46

I've just ordered a load of coloured skinnies from French Connection has they have 20% off (ends tonight). Was planning to wear most of them with grey marl tee and one of these matt glass necklaces from Toast. I'm going for deep/bright colours as I've come to the conclusion my thighs can't take pastels

Undecided on footwear though.

ConstanceChatterley · 17/02/2012 21:56

Also I think breton plus coloured skinnies is a nice look?

partyhats · 17/02/2012 22:21

slight thread hijack but anyone know where I can get a slouchy non fitted grey marl top?

BensonBunny · 17/02/2012 22:32

I've just got these and I'm wearing them with a white fitted shirt and black ankle boots. I'm thinking about wearing them with this in peweter tomorrow.

DD has seen bright pink skinnys in Topshop which she has to have apparently!

I need to know this too - have looked everywhere for one :(

mrsebojones · 18/02/2012 09:06

I have the next high waist skinnies in bottle green and they are far from hideous imo. I wear with a cream lace blouse and heels for going out. For day time I wear tucked into boots with a navy or grey cashmere sweater.

I also bought a pair of regular skinnies from next. I think they call the shade jade. I say they are turquoise. Wore them for the first time the other day. Was a bit self conscious at first as I never normally wear bright colours on my bottom half. So I toned them down with grey heeled ankle boots and a matching grey cashmere. Got lots of compliments. In the summer I'll pair with plain t-shirts in white, navy or grey. Or a breton top looks good.

ConstanceChatterley · 18/02/2012 09:32

Grey marl tops - French Connection have some drapey ones but they look like they might be quite thin, look good how they've styled them with coloured skinnies.

The wearingittoday/WIT blog really rates J.Crew for tees and she wears grey marl A LOT!

MissBeehivingUnderTheMistletoe · 18/02/2012 09:59

I liked this

fergoose · 18/02/2012 10:00

i bought a grey slouch top on eBay this week - seller has light and dark grey

is knitted rather than jersey - is very flattering on

I rate J Crew too. Their cashmere t shirts are fantastic. I have lots of grey marl & would definitely suggest a look in Cos. It's worth trying a few styles in Cos as many of their shapes look very different on. I have a very thin but lovely grey marl t shirt from M&S a few years ago - a layering tee I think it was called. I wear it over a white one and have worn this week with a yellow neon vest poking out the bottom.

ConstanceChatterley · 18/02/2012 10:15

Monkeysmama - what is J.Crew sizing like? Does the usual 2 size less than UK work - i.e. I would order a 6 or an 8 as am a 10-12?

monkeysmama · 18/02/2012 10:21

I will check my J Crew tops and let you know. I messed up sizing with a dress I ordered and it could've fitted 3 of me in!

OracleInaCoracle · 18/02/2012 10:21

I have the high waisted ones from Next in bottle green and they are gorgeous!

coolkat · 18/02/2012 10:26

ConstanceChatterley · 18/02/2012 10:28
