Sorry for poor thread title but I am hopeless at rhyming at the best of times...
Unbelievable how quickly we filled the last thread!

Had one hour on Friday before the meeting started and used my time very efficiently and bought these. They are not quite as high as the 50/50s but suit me better. Was hugging the shopping bag close to me on the train back home yesterday Grin.

ollie Such a shame that your DH isn't going to go with the job offer over here. Oh, the fun we could have!

hopefully Having you on this thread is great and I enjoy reading your posts a lot. I hope your mother doesn't find any more tidying tasks for you today. You look fab in your wedding pictures.

annie Hope you got all your work done last night and have the chance to get some rest today.

red We have our hob on our kitchen island too. We couldn't decide on backsplash for ages. Haven't had one for ages and it is absolutely fine. I do most food preparation stuff on the island anyway.

Have lovely Sundays everyone!

Slept much better last night, thank goodness. Thanks everyone, for your kind words of encouragement. I am looking forward to the summer very much, hopefully with DS happily playing in the garden while DD and I lie on a blanket (I can dream!). I like the advice about reassuring DS that he is still me precious baby too, thank you.

Have really enjoyed all the January lists, they're great! amber, yours is incredible! Very Envy of the j brand haul, well the whole lot in fact. You're doing extremely well with the wardrobe re-stock hopefully. I think your colours and style are quite different to mine but you sound so stylish and I'm loving the thought you put into all purchases, very inspiring. What spreadsheet system do you use by the way? Just excel? I would like some special wardrobe / purchases app for the iPad but haven't found quite the thing (and it would have to have a password on it to prevent DH from seeing it!)

I think I'm probably in the no biker jackets category too; I wish I was edgy but actually feel more comfortable in classic / feminine clothes (although do hate how that sounds!). My TS jacket has been largely unworn so far, although that might be down to bump. I think it might become one of those items I love to see hanging in my wardrobe and am loath to part with but actually wear very little (like all my sad unworn blouses).

Happy belated birthday reine and lovely pics of DD.

Annoying about the tutoring red, that is the real downside to the business. I really enjoy 1 to 1 tuition but am reluctant to do it in the evenings or weekends as that is our precious family time. I have got round it by hunting out students at schools who finish at 2.45 - 3ish and scheduling sessions as early as possible. But I'm guiltily aware of how easy things are for me with free child are on tap. Hope you can get something sorted that works for you.

Love that Balenciaga bag bloss and have wanted one for years. Have you seen one in the flesh? I don't think that they are as soft and luxurious feeling as mulberry bags, much stiffer and 'fashiony' feeling, somehow. But perhaps they soften up with use, they always look lovely when I see pics of people carrying them.

hopefully again, you are probably sick of thinking about boots but I don't suppose you have seen some grey suede low cut ankle boots on your adventures have you? That picture of Rosie thingy has got me wanting some (and I feel justified in buying another pair since the aggies were so cheap). I think you should hang on to the Brora cardi too, it's the sort of thing you'd always want to put on.

looby I like those two Hobbs things but they are not very me so not best placed to comment. I can see them looking very chic on one of my very good friends if that helps!

Verity have several online fabric shops that I love, will link later when not on phone. Lots of the VB dresses in gratis looked eminently copyable.

blue2711 · 01/02/2012 12:24

'my precious baby' obviously!

Hopefully · 01/02/2012 12:25

grazia

AmberNectarine · 01/02/2012 12:33

blue I have these which I like v much. Lots of ladies on the thread have them, though Hopefully didn't get on with them...

OllieinOrange · 01/02/2012 12:52

Back from another trip to the ice rink this time with DS2s class - an shattered from pulling bloody penguins round and round (kids hold onto them).

I too will miss the Great Boot Hunt of 2012 but just wanted to throw one more link into the mix: not leather but bargain ankle boots from M&S here

Icey bag has yet to be delivered, says a week to 10 days delivery time....
Red really sorry to hear about the job. Something better will turn up.
Verity I liked what I saw of VB's new collection in the Dm yesterday.
Looby glad scan was ok, did you find out the sex?

Waves to everyone else - back later when I feel more energised.

carciofi · 01/02/2012 12:58

Fritzi, if there is ever anything you want from London, I'd be happy to get it for you.

Verity, I am planning to get that dress too. It sounds like a miracle worker. I bought two dresses from Me and Em last summer and wore them a lot. I have a leather blazer which I do really like but it is 10 years old now. I feel like the Fonz in biker jackets. :o

Looby, glad your scan went well and I like the Oushka bag.

Blue, you've probably already thought of it but I bought a stack of new DVDs, colouring books and crayons for DD1 before DD2 arrived. DD1 told me she was still the baby too, I was making her be the big girl when she didn't always feel like it.

blue2711 · 01/02/2012 13:08

I have thought about buying some jalouse for ages amber, perhaps now is the time! It would be good if asos did a code I could use. I like the sandy colour for SS.

Thanks carciofi, I have new DVDs and sticker books ready, although sadly DS is not a child who likes to sit and watch / colour / do puzzles etc, he mostly likes to tear around causing havoc!

Two quick questions: when purchasing from shopbop which delivery method re. the import taxes works out cheapest?
And can anyone access the RUssell and Bromley site, it's just a plain brown page for me and hasn't worked for weeks! V annoying as I want to look for the leopard print flats that someone mentioned (red?). Thanks!

carciofi · 01/02/2012 13:13

Russell and Bromley still have their autumn/winter page up. Really odd that they don't have a proper website.

OllieinOrange · 01/02/2012 13:14

Blue you've probably thought of this already but having a present ready to give DD1 from DD2 seems to go down well. DS1 was only 19 months but still refers to to the purple Heffalump he got from DS2 in hospital. My sister brought one of those Vtech cameras for her son (aged 4.5) when his brother was born - he loved taking photos of the baby and spent ages playing the little games on there too giving everyone else some peace and quiet! Friends with DDs said getting a baby doll with things like nappies to change is also good?

blossoming · 01/02/2012 13:20

That's the thing blue, Mulberry are too soft for me! I need structure.
So I told DH that I've wanted the bag for 10 years. He knows this as I have a smaller R£B copy. I am going to save £100 a month and buy it on my birthday in 9 months time.
I also have to save for a bike £700, and for Spain trip £1000+.
DCs are in rags Wink

carciofi · 01/02/2012 13:28

Good plan, Bloss.

Do you reckon the sizing is American or UK on the DVF website? Is this top too boring?

OllieinOrange · 01/02/2012 13:33

NYE Great Plains has their new collection out and it contains a Breton dress here

blue2711 · 01/02/2012 13:34

I've got a little box of dinky cars and toy animals already wrapped in my hospital bag thanks ollie. Good to hear it works. DS does seem excited and often talks of his baby sister but not sure how he'll cope with the reality...

Ah, then the Balenciaga should suit you bloss. Well worth your children becoming ragamuffins! Although you know what else is very structured? The Chanel 2.55... in fact I think that's what stops me from loving mine quite as much as I should!

That's rubbish of R and B. I can't even get the AW page! And no branches near me at all, anyone would think they don't want my money!

OllieinOrange · 01/02/2012 13:36

Sorry Blue I meant DS1. Skate-related hysteria has set it!

MarshaBrady · 01/02/2012 13:39

I'm finding it hard to think of the bag that is me.

I thought it was Balenciaga, ore even Chanel, but not sure. Proenza Schouler also not sure. Bottega Veneta, hmmm. Then maybe something very plain like Marni. But might get bored with that.

Possibly could be Hermès (on a long term Bloss lay away scheme Grin.)

I haven't bought a bag I like enough since being on this thread. Got to get one soon.

carciofi · 01/02/2012 13:44

Blue, re import tax, not sure which works out cheapest but paying the tax in advance is quicker.

MrsCampbellBlack · 01/02/2012 14:24

With the exception of a Birkin - I'm not sure there is a forever bag - I get bored of them all in time [fickle]

Blue - have you seen Wendy in the CE leopards - is that why you're working out shopbop rates Wink

carciofi · 01/02/2012 14:47

I get bored of bags too. I should stick to Mulberry and AH in the sales.

Has anyone ordered from dvf.com? Is the sizing US or British? I tried calling customer service but got an answering machine.

AmberNectarine · 01/02/2012 14:53

I love those leopard print jeans, but the rise is just too low for me, have tried them and just know they would slip down all the time. Will have to stick my TS pair.

Not sure about the Birkin, think it has lost a bit of its cachet thanks to VB. I do really like the PS1, but I think it might be a Balenciaga Giant City or a YSL Muse for me. DH has promised me bag of my choice when he makes partner. Good man.

by the way blue you might just be surprised. We brought DD home, DS gave her a strawberry and a beautiful friendship was born. No jealousy, no trouble. Appreciate I was probably just very lucky, and it's own pitfalls i.e. When she used to cry, he would get upset that I wasn't fixing her - she had colic!

MarshaBrady · 01/02/2012 14:57

Yes we are very lucky here. Ds1 adores ds2 and vice versa. No jealousy, ds2 gets up and runs into ds1's room to wake him up. I think the biggish age gap helps. And ds1's personality. Very caring.

Sounds good Amber, (ponders the fact that dh is the midst of being made one. A bag you say? Grin).

I have just annoyed lots of people by um turning down the position.

But feels good. .

Freelance for me it is!

carciofi · 01/02/2012 15:10

You have to look after number one, Marsha, don't worry about it. Better than starting and resigning after one week like I did!

MarshaBrady · 01/02/2012 15:12

Thanks Carciofi one week is impressive btw Grin

And exactly the sort of thing I would do.

Get involved with a job because I feel bad saying no. Then getting all twisted up in resigning.

Dh said just say no now and walk away, much easier.

Probably shouldn't have gone for the interview but the winter holidays were annoying (so bad of me!).

notyummy · 01/02/2012 15:59

Hi all!

So sorry to hear about Annies and Loobys ill DSs. I know only too well the havoc it can cause.

Love the sound of the weekend Icey.

Great to read all the January lists. Don't know what mine is without being at home to check Microsoft Money (useful tool!)

I can report that it is absolutely chuffing freezing in Paris Grin. We are having an awesome time though. Window shopped all the way down Ave Montaigne. Champagne at the top of the Eiffel tower. About to go down to the spa. Might have to be 40 another few times Wink.

notyummy · 01/02/2012 16:00

That's ill DCs!
