I don't want to wear running tights. I have a pair but they always feel like they will come down. What do sport MNers wear when they run? At the moment I always run in the dark as I look so bad.

I like a high waist - holds more in!

I swear by Nike tights or capris, a wicking top, fleece, and hilly socks and Im of chubby healthy build. I Sometimes wear shorts over tights if cant be bothered to think about underwear.

scarlet76 · 22/01/2012 10:53

Nike running capris - £30 from JL website - yes they stay up over my curvy bottom!

ILoveOnionRings · 22/01/2012 18:50

I have Nike Capris too - they also have a pull string at the front, for a little extra tightening on the waist and a handy zip pocket on the back where I put my keys. Love these have 2 pairs, also on Sports Direct they are about £18 or £20 (or they were in the summer)

meant to put this up yesterday,I got a pair of new running shoes for £29.99 in here (but I do know what type of shoe I need) saucony are my shoe of choice but I don't like the massive price tag.

Hope it helps someone :o

MummyPocPoc · 23/01/2012 00:00

Quiet thanks for that - bookmarked for after I give birth (have an insane urge to go running all the time oddly!) Grin

I wear the ones that 'wick' the moisture away from the skin. If you run in the rain wearing cotton leggings, they chafe and you get bright red, itchy thighs! Comfortable tee shirt (not high neck), vest top, thin fleece/thick fleece. Waterproof jacket for rain. Love it!

bumping this thread because I have won a set of running gear Grin had an email today! woohoo

cardoon · 03/02/2012 19:04

What kind did you win corny - and will you do a review?

BettyBathroom · 03/02/2012 19:33

I wear running tights with a slight flare - so are a bit more flattering.

cornsilk am so jealous, I have been looking at the skins for ages just trying to justify the cash. Please please leave a review on here about them. Wink

c0rnsilllkrunninglikealaydee · 03/02/2012 22:14

I know! I just need the figure to wear them now though...

missmiss · 03/02/2012 22:33

I have these, these, a couple of long-sleeved cotton scoop-neck tops (from Jack Wills, but they could be from anywhere) and a cheap black sports bra which I got from Sports Direct ages ago. I also have one of these, which I find really useful (can't run properly if I'm carrying anything).

I started with the running shoes and sports bra - trousers and tops are unimportant. I've got more interested in the accessories as I've become more enthusiastic about running! I wouldn't start without shoes and a bra, though, but don't worry about what other people are wearing - no one pays much attention to anyone else anyway, we're all too busy concentrating on running ourselves :)

c0rnsilllkrunninglikealaydee · 03/02/2012 22:47

I think I may have those trainers or some very like them missmiss!

ujjayi · 04/02/2012 01:07

TK Maxx is a great resource for running gear. I bought running shorts and lightweight zip-up jacket last year for less than £20. I layer them with either Adidas capris, cotton long or short sleeve tee (spring/summer); or Icebreaker merino leggings and long sleeve top (winter). I prefer the merino wicking garments as anything synthetic makes me itch like a bitch.

Just getting back into running myself. I find it's the only form of exercise (aside from yoga) which really slims and tones my legs and where I totally zone out.

missmiss · 04/02/2012 01:11

They're good, aren't they, c0rnsilllk? V comfy!

c0rnsilllkrunninglikealaydee · 04/02/2012 12:01

yes they're great - mine were bargainous as well so even better!

aquashiv · 07/02/2012 23:06

Initially I ran in my old gym gear so just a t shirt and leggings and my trainers which were about ten years old. I moved onto Karrimor tights when Sports Direct had a sale which really dont make much difference but make me look like I am taking it seriously. The best investment when you are serious are the trainers. I had a gait test and went for Asics gel trainers that cost a bloody fortune but stopped me getting injuries so really get the best trainers that you can afford.

QuietOhSoQuiet · 08/02/2012 11:44

update : I needed another pair of ankle length tights due to being all feeble and old now in this cold weather,so went to sports direct as am mean to buy another pair of karrimors as am so impressed with the others and they are cheap, there were no ladies ones left but there was a pair of small mens and they are fantastic fit, come up higher on the waist and stayed put.My only complaint about them is like the long ladies ones the rear pocket is so tiny and I have to fit in dog poop bags and door keys.

And I now own a new piece of kit that is bloody wonderful,I bought myself a new garmin and it's fab,I am in love with it

c0rnsilllkrunninglikealaydee · 08/02/2012 11:54

oooh sounds good
I feel very guilty as I haven't run for 2 weeks. I need new stuff to spur me on I think.

QuietOhSoQuiet · 08/02/2012 12:03

c0rn I have entered a 10k race in the beginning of may,a half marathon beginning of oct,I have no choice but to run and as I now have 2 serious goals ahead of me instead of just meandering round I am actually enjoying it

plus the lovely new piece of sports porn is too lovely to not go out, actually it is great it showed me pace, heart rate, distance, calories used, time and it pauses automatically when I have to stop for the dog to do it's business :o

my watch porn disclaimer: I am in no way responsible if you like techy gadgets that do stuff and looking at this makes you purchase one

c0rnsilllkrunninglikealaydee · 08/02/2012 12:04

I want one of those but it's £££££!
Yes I need some goals I think ...must sort it. Am also scared to run on frosty pavements though.

QuietOhSoQuiet · 08/02/2012 12:08

I only got it as I had left my job in january and was not expecting anymore pay from them but a payslip plopped through the letterbox last week and they had paid me a ton of holiday pay so I thought this was the perfect way to spend it,otherwise it would sadly not have been

I live very rural so I can run on grass and tracks though bought a pair of trail shoes on monday as road shoes are just too slippy
