Glitter nail polish

I want a good quality one that will last to use on my toes.

The type that look all glittery, but are smooth when you touch them. I had them done before at a salon, but I don't have time to go again before we go away and I can't remember the brand she used.

Any suggestions?

There is a lovely Revlon one,it is a glittery aubergine colour & it lasts for ages,

I've got the Revlon on that was linked to on Boots website. Its a lovely colour - need 2 coats and I'd advise a base coat. Its a bit of a bugger to get off though!

i have a few nails inc ones and they are rough, look nice though!

opi muppets look good

why are you bothered how they feel when on your toes?

I've currently got Winter Berries by Jessica on my toes, with a dark red (but translucent) glitter polish by Maybeline on top. No toughness and it also acts as a top coat.

south I am not sure why the roughness bothers me, it just sends a shudder right through me and puts my teeth on edge, some kinds of stone have the same effect on me
I was wondering about the Nails Inc as I have some of their creme polishes and they are excellent at not chipping, I will have to avoid their glitter ones.

I have seen the OPI muppets ones, they do look fab and like the Orly ones that sobenobu mentions I wondered if it was worth paying the extra for those brands? I also like the look of the Zoya and China Glaze ones.

Ifancy, is the Maybeline one smooth? Did you mean no roughness? I think I would prefer an opaque one to a translucent, I can never seem to stop the streaks on a translucent polish.

My Orly one was £4.

sobenobu where from? I have bought some today from Boots, but am not impressed with any of them.

I have the Revlon one mentioned, it is the nicest I think, but takes 3 coats to be opaque.
Two Barry M (buy one get one free)- red and silver, both are clear with glitter in so will be ok as a top coat, but are not smooth

Two cheapy ones (2 for £3!), a blue and a gold- they are fab, not sure if they will last though.
DD has all her toenails painted a different colour 'sweetie toes' she calls it!
Lots of make up offers in Boots, so none of it cost me much!

I have a red glitter one from virgin vie. It's ok but not glittery enough IMO. Smooth though.

Could you go to a Salam and get twinkle toes done? They look lovely.

Base coat. Unless you want to end up battling to get rid of the sparkles when you remove it.

Mildy, I have just done mine with the Revlon with a good base coat, it covers much better too- two coats and it looks fab. I want more colours now

I have a fab gold glitter varnish from Lancome, shade 003. It also comes in silver 004. It's a clear varnish with bits of glitter in it. I am using it as a topcoat over a pinky nude shade, so it looks like I sprinkled glitter on my nails, but you could use it alone, 2-3 layers for all over glitter. It feels a bit rough so I give it a clear topcoat. I love it so have stockpiled a few bottles in case it's discontinued!

My Fenwicks is not like the Bond Street one - it has weird and wonderful never heard of before ranges, a bit like a high st chemist.

Just got my Orly one in front of me and it has NO number/name/code on it :s
It is by no means opaque though, as I bought it for a sheer sparkle and nothing else.

Have you tried Angel nails by Max Factor -it's a silver/chrome colour here. it is not rough, looks great with a tan and is a bugger to remove!

Has anyone tried the magnetic stuff? Like this?

I really like the idea but does it give good results?

I have razzle dazzle by Deborah lippman on my fingers at the minute. It's a dark red but really sparkles and is smooth

MildlyNarkyPuffin yes you do get a good result with the nails inc magnetic ones (the gold wasn't that good though - a much more subtle result) .

As for glitter varnish the nails inc 'Chelsea Embankment ' is a fab gold glitter .
(but I've checked that nails inc link and its not there - it may have been just for the last QVC box )

My DSD had the OPI Muppets ones.
I had some fab sparkly toenails a while ago with an OPI varnish, applied at the salon and it was a complete bastard to get off. I couldn't shift any of it with remover and in the end my beautician had to file it off! On the plus side it wore fantastically well - no chips at all and looked amazing.

i use opi nailvarnish regularly - no problems getting it offf but it definately stays put - can get 2- 3 weeks out of a good home pedi with it and i swim lots so am in and out of pool etc.
DEfo recomend them - got the muppets one for a workmate for secret santa and she s been raving about it since ! Loves iT!

I googled and found a blog where she painted her nails a lovely nude shade and then put a sheer gold over, then a big silver glitter on top- looked fab.

The Barry M ones came off DDs nails in a neat nail shape last night, we didn't put a base on, but even so!

Deborah Lipmann ones do look good, very sparkly.

Just out of interest do any of you keep your varnish in the fridge?

The OPI Muppets set are bumpy as the glitter is large. Same as the standard OPI glitter polishes. Look great but do not last. The Muppet series I found very thin on colour density too.

OPI DS (Designer Series) has diamond dust in so sparkles like crazy but is smooth and glossy. Worth the extra £.

Have never ever found a glittery one from the High St that didn't look like a pole dancer would choose it.

I have a few of the glittery OPI ones (my fave is from the "nice stems" collection). The bumps can be annoying but with a layer or two of clear then you can't feel the bumps. Makes it even more of a pig to get off though.

Thanks Pinot, I will look for those. It's a shame the colours aren't strong. What do you think of the Orly/Deborah Lipmann ones?
