The stock they have online looks like bad Per Una. Awful, hideously old-fashioned looking garments. Ugh. It was my go-to place, guaranteed to find something I'd love shop (much like Next until 5 years ago).

Where can I shop now?!

Agree that Monsoon has really gone down hill. I used to find so much I liked in there. This winter, I have had one cardigan from there and that's it. I got it with a 25 % discount and would have been disappointed if I had paid full price as it has bobbled badly.
I know lots of people slag Next off on the S&B threads but some of their petite stuff works well for me as I am only 5ft and a size 8. This winter, I got some nice high waisted skinny jeans, a lovely berry colour high wool content coat, a black and white stripe jumper dress and a black lace dress. All are wearing well.
Zara, Mango and Gap all do little for me at present.
I have ventured back to Warehouse recently and am liking some of their stuff. I've also had a few bits from M&S online - my local store is dire!! A decent cashmere jumper that is wearing well, a great barbour style jacket that cost me next to nothing and some bits and pieces from the Limited Collection that is quite funky.
The item I have worn most this winter is a bird print dress from Joules. I have dressed it down during the day with thick tights, flat boots and a long cardi and I have dressed it up to go out to dinner with opaques, heels and chunky jewellery.

I bought a top from Monsoon recently. My husband has never yet had an opinion on a single thing I have worn for the last decade and a half beyond a rather worried "you look lovely", declared it the most god awful thing he had ever seen and would I be getting a blue rinse to go with it? Apparently it is the sort of top worn by ladies with big bosoms who sell jam at fêtes.

Yikes. I've got two giftcards to use at M&S. I can never find anything Sad Might brave it today...

Btw if anyone wants a pair of these joules shoes in a size 8, I've had them a year and never worn them. £20 plus post if anyone's interested!

If I had M&S vouchers I would buy food or kids clothes. Then spend the money elsewhere. Though you can sometimes find some nice bits from there.

trixymalixy · 29/12/2011 18:23

We were given £40 m&s vouchers too and will be spending them on food!!

JenniferEight · 30/12/2011 12:56

Well I decided to put them towards a toaster Grin

I didn't know you could spend them online, though it's hit or miss whether it works or not as apparently the website is playing up. But I've bought a toaster. A posh one. At least it will be useful!

Have to disagree, i love monsoon, but like every shop some crap stuff and some really good stuff.Got 2jumper dresses and 2 jumpers, great mixed with other stuff.I think way forward is to mix and match from as many shops as you can.
